Ah... I love the breeze of a sunny morning inside of the campus.
She smells a familiar cologne off in the distance.

She turns around to see the college prince, Hayate Katsumi (AKA her crush).
Sumiko then spots an unknown woman, which kinda looks like her classmate so many people love.

Just then, Eunjoo feels a pain in her lungs.
She quickly runs to the girl's washroom in her dorm.

Ugh... what's happening?
Suddenly, flower petals and blood start coming out very slowly.

Huh?! What's this? I'll go to the hospital real quick, and I also have to tell my teachers I'm a bit sick.
Eunjoo has told the teachers that were going to teach her today that she feels a bit sick.
She drives to the nearest hospital.

Well Hanahaki is an illness where you have a unrequited loved for another person. This causes flowers and blood to come out of your lungs.

Well why do I only have flower petals?
Doctor
They will eventually grow into huge flowers to stuff your lungs which will result to death.

*Is this curable?*

Is there any way to cure this? I really don't want to die too soon...
Sumiko starts to hyperventilate a little.

*The thought of death due to unrequited love is terrifying.*

Take deep breaths, you have to control your breathing while you have hanahaki.
Doctor
And yes, there are 2 ways to cure it.

One way is the person you love returns your feelings sincerely, but if they confess their feelings which are not true, it will not work.

And the last way is through surgery...

*Since the easier one is surgery, I'll just do that. No way Hayate will like me back in any way possible.*

If you do take the surgery, you'll lose every single memory of that person.

And it's very expensive as well, it's a hard illness to get rid of.
