Footsteps sounded behind her, followed by her mother's gentle voice. "The envoy from Valance, the neighbouring kingdom has arrived, my dear. It is time."

And as for Julie, though she was Taliya's friend, she too yet bore the consequence of participating in the plotting of the shedding of innocent blood, and would be sent into exile by morn.

The next morning, with his, and Taliyah's family looking on, Colton carried out the sentence himself. His sword sliced the air, severing the head of Casey in one clean stroke, and sentencing Julie to permanent exile from the kingdom. Justice was served. But it did not ease the ache in Colton's heart.
