Traits To Change
The beginning of the end
Narrator
In the small town of Hamelton Valley, a cult brewed. Praying on the innocent that was far too vulnerable, the old that was far too weak, the rich whom craved the power and the innocent.
Narrator
Daily, the cult sent subjects to retrieve followers under the disguise of religion and the belief that maybe there was something more than the afterlife.
Narrator
The cults leader, by the name of Father often made the rules and set the goals for the cult, and whilst the cult achieved such greatness under the disguise of a church. The day of awakening, Father called it was coming soon. It was said that when the youngest child was of a certain age, they meet their fulfillment on earth and is to strip their skin and awaken.
Narrator
Angels were no more than humans whom have shed their skin and ascended, gods no more than angels evolving, and Unity was no more than a god who served to watch over the world and the awakenings. Anyone could ascend to their final form but first, they must shed the skin that held them back to begin with. This was the cult's goal, and it was more than compelling to anyone vulnerable enough to join it.
Narrator
For those that couldn't understand the cults “good deeds” were forced. Like this unfortunate soul. She tried to escape the church.
Panicked women
“Please! Someone help me! Please”
Narrator
She was beaten so badly, blood oozed from her black and blue bruises. She looked as though she was clinging onto life. Her screams fell to deaf ears, she was being dragged by her legs to a cabin in the woods. For any tree, she desperately clung too, her body was jerked forward by a masked man with a bloody horizontal cross drawn against his bare chest.
Narrator
Struggling for this woman was inevitable, but she knew if she entered that cabin she wouldn't be seen alive again. She kicked at the larger male, and screamed but her body was dragged into the cabin with ease. The door slamming shut behind the blood trail she left behind.
Narrator
The larger male silently passed by a dinning room table with a small child sitting on a chair coloring away.
Panicked women
“Please help me, please ill save us both!”
Narrator
She screamed, yet the child didn't flinch, he didn't look up from his coloring book, not even an expression change. Then womens head was slammed against the wall and her sharp screams were cut short as her limp body was dragged down to the basement.
Director Rick
“So, Anna Regin went missing about a month ago and there's been no signs of her?”
Victor K.
“Theres a cult at play, it's not just Anna. How many missing persons should we write off as runaways before we acknowledge the fact there is a cult involved”
Director Rick
“Detective, it's bold of you to throw out something as crazy as a cult. A cult here in Hamelton Valley? “
Victor K.
“As crazy as it sounds the signs are there. I've been watching the White church for a while now. Their followings are alarmingly high, and any of the members I've spoken to never go into detail about their beliefs or religion in that church”
Director Rick
“We need to ask more questions detective”
Victor K.
“Ive been asking the questions, just not getting the answers to it”
Director Rick
“Ill have the entire HVP (Hamelton Valley Police) focus on the white church. It's time we start putting closure to those families with missing loved ones.”
Narrator
After 3 months in of intense investigation, the HVP force surrounded the White church. The White church population was about 400 out of the 1,200 of Hamelton Valley. All dead by a lethal dose of Sulfite. By the time the force could get into the church all members except a small child no older than 10 sat struggling to open his bottle of sulfite.
Psychiatrist
“Whats your name, little boy? It's been about one month since that day”
Narrator
The day of the awakening, this little boy struggled to ascend as the others had, he was instead saved by police officers and brought to a foster home and monitored by a psychiatrist. He screamed heuristically and cried for a week straight, day and night before becoming mute.
Psychiatrist
“Your name is Robin Withers. Isn't it, I'm Sarah, a friend. You can open up and talk to me. I know you must be scared”
Narrator
It had been a full year since Robin went completely mute, like a small husk of flesh he hardly moved at all. The psychiatrists wondered if the boy could be saved at all. They began to test Robin, showing him pictures of his family members in family photos and friends he used to know. The boy continued to blankly stare.
Psychiatrist
“What if I told you, there was a reason you didn't ascend that day. And it was because you at the time you hadn't reached awakening.”
Robin W.
My eyes fluttered upwards to Sarah. What did she know about ascending? “….”
Psychiatrist
“Did that peak your interest? This is the first time you've ever looked at me” A smile spread across my face.
Psychiatrist
“your probably wondering how do I know about the ascending”
Psychiatrist
“The cross is a bridge to the world I cannot see for-”
Robin W.
“My eyes are blind and my mind naïve. I am shackled to the ground and bounded by flesh and meat. My bones will dry and decay with ease for once I ascend mortality will cease. I will live eternally amongst gods and unity.”
Psychiatrist
“And unity. I know this just like you do Robin, because I was also part of the white church. Here because we cannot ascend just yet. We still have work to do”
Narrator
One might say it was faith that these two met, others would say it was luck. But this is where the real story begins. Robin now age 21, stopped therapy years ago and is now working as a bartender at Hamelton Valley most popular bar. He was charming and friendly to everyone he met. He was the average good samaritan despite his ugly forgotten past.
