Another year of boring studying. Ahhh, first day for school. I just can’t wait to meet my best friend Anna. She is the only good thing about school. It’s not that I don’t like going to school. Its just I hate the dramas. Everyone dates everyone, the tipical teenage life.

Oh look at the time, I need to get ready.

Finally, I made it in time.

Hey, Jane (calling), I heard some body calling my name. I turned around to look for the voice and my eyes landed on my best friend Anna, who was calling out for me across the street with a huge smile on her face,

Jane: Anna,How are you?

I asked while giving her a big hug.

Anna: I am good, I can’t wait to see who are in our class. This year is going to be so much fun. Finally we will meet some hot guys and we can start dating, I am sure guys will be lining up for you.

Jane: haha, I missed your chatter box.

I know once she start talking, her stories will never ends. That something I amaze about her. On contrast to her I am not looking forward to meeting guys. Even though we are going to high school this year, we will not be meeting new people, as we live in a small city called Villi, and we only have one school. It an all in one school: preschool, primary and high school all in one place. So I am pretty sure we will not see any new faces.

Anna: hey Jane, our class is in the third floor at the left end. Let go before they rang the second bell.**

Both me and Anna run up the stairs to reach our class, we entered the class, I looked around the class to see who and who are in our class this year. Everyone looked familiar. But there was one strange face. Strangely beautiful blue eyes. So handsome. Face so elegant. Who is this person. I have never him in school.

Anna: Jane come on let’s go in. Where are you staring..... hey! Eric! Have started your flirting, as soon as you enter the class.

What’s happening?? Eric his name is Eric. Why why does Anna knows this person. What their relationship. Why is my heart beating so fast. Why am I so nervous. Don’t Panick Jane! Don’t panick. I tried to calm my self. First I need to know how Anna knows Eric. heh Eric! What a nice name to such a handsome person.

I slowly walked to toward Anna and Eric as they were having a smooth conversation.

Anna: Eric this is my bestie Jane. I told you about her last year remember.

What, last year. They know each other from last year. Where was I? How come I don’t know him. Why haven’t Anna ever told me about Eric. What is happening. I want to know more about him. What is this feeling. Why am I being like this.

***Everyone take your seats. Teacher shouted. I sat beside Anna.

Jane: Anna! Who is Eric. I have never seen him before.

Anna: what? He was in my class last year. He joined school at the beginning of last year. Have you never seen him.

Jane: no. I have never seen him

Anna: hahaha. Oh Jane. You are so funny.

Jane: how so? I am serious. I have never seen him in my life.

Anna: I know. I believe you. I know you were never interested in dating anyone from school to begin with. So I am sure you wouldn’t have notice him before.

Anna and I was in separate class last year. But that doesn’t mean we don’t see each other. We always go to basketball practice together. What surprising is Eric was in this school for one whole year and I have never seen him.

Anna: you know Eric is really popular with girls. Even Lisa has been eyeing on him for quiet a time.

Jane: what a about you?

I asked jokingly

Anna: hah! I am happy with my life. I don’t need some handsome guy.

Jane: you only need zack. Haha

Anna: obviously! He is my boyfriend.

****Sssh! Stop talking girls. I am your homeroom teacher Ms.Rose....”

Anna: first day and we are filled with homework. Seriously what am I going to do in knowing Algebra in the future. It’s not like I will become a mathematician. This is frustrating. I thought teacher will be start syllabus tomorrow. But no, they had to start today, on the first day. Who does that?

Jane: I know what will cheer you up. Coach said we will start practice from today onward as inter school cup will be held earlier than last year.

Anna: yay. Finally some happy news. You know this time boys team is also quiet strong. Most of the boys in our class will be in the team. Alex, beck, John and Eric too.

Jane: Eric plays too? Is he strong player?

Anna: yeah. He plays for ACE too. Just like you. He is really good at studying, sports and also good looking. Are you falling for Jane?

Jane: you know me, I am not interested in starting a relationship.

Anna: I know! Even if the sky fall down, you won’t think about guys. All things aside. You need to be a tougher this year. Jane you cannot let other bully ok. Being gental will not serve you this year. There is a high competition for your position. Remember this. Ok?

Jane: yes captain.

Anna: that’s my girl.

Wow he is basketball too. I can see him more often. I can see those beautiful eyes again in the evening. I just can’t wait to see him. I feel sorry that I lied to Anna. I just don’t know how I feel about Eric. Its different. I want to know him. I want be near him. Do I have a crush on him? Is this possible? I finally like someone?

Ooh what’s happing with me why cant I get rid of this feeling. I am so nervous. It’s almost time for my basketball practice. And I still can’t find my shoes.

Jane: mom wears my red shoes (anna shouted)

Mary: it’s in the shoe cabinet. Look carefully.

Jane: mom I can’t find, I going to be late.

Mary: you need to look through my eyes to find anything around here. here is your shoes. (Mary said in an annoyed toned)

Oh I don’t have time I will be late if I don’t run. Why is my house so far away from school. I don’t won’t to run extra laps today. At least not infront of Eric.

Anna: Jane finally you are here. Coach is about to take attendance. Thank god you aren’t late.

Jane: give me a second to breathe. I came running.

Practice continued for 1 hour.

***after practice***

Jane : hey didn’t you said boys will be coming to practice too.

Anna: yeah I thought we will have same timing for practice. But now boys are coming at night. I don’t school doesn’t want girls and boys get mixed up.

By the way why are you asking about boys.

Jane: no reasons. I thought it would be fun to hang out after practice.

Anna: no worries. Zack and others will come to pick me up to head to cafeteria.

Jane: oh ok.

Will Eric come. He would probably come come. I need to stop thinking about Eric.

Zack: Anna sweety let go.

Anna: one second… Jane let go.

Jane: Anna who’s coming along with us

Anna: just Zack and beck.

Jane: oh ok (said Anna in a low tone)

What was I thinking why would Eric come here.

*** at the cafeteria***

Zack come sit here.

A familiar voice called to zack. I turned around to look . It was Eric. He is here. How am I suppose to react to it. For some reason my heart is beating so fast.

Zack and Anna sat together while I had to sat next Eric.

Eric: hey.

Jane: hey.

Anna: Eric I will save you the trouble of flirting with my best friend. She is very shy and probably will not like you.

Eric: there is no reason to hold back on beautiful lady.

Oh my god. He said I am beautiful. What’s wrong with my best friend. Let him flirt with me. I know you Like to protect me. But man he said I am beautiful. I am blushing inside. I don’t know what to say or do.

Anna: Jane are you ok? You look a bit tired.

Jane: yeah. It’s because of the practice.

I feel bad I am hiding my feelings from my best friend.

**after few hours***

Anna: Eric darling can you drop Anna home. Me and Zack needs to go some place. And I don’t know where this Becky went.

Bye Jane.

Jane: Bye Anna.

Everyone left home except me and Eric.

Eric: Where is your house.

Anna: It’s near east beach.

Eric: let’s go.

We both walked to my house. Silently he didn’t say a word and I didn’t know what to say. I need to say something.

Jane: Hi

Eric: Hi (replied)

Why did I said Hi. So stupid. I have to say something else it so awkward.

Jane: do you like beach.

Eric: yeah

And my home is here. What I only said to words to him. This was my chance and it lost it. Why didn’t I said anything earlier.

Eric: Is this your house. It’s in a great location.

Jane: yeah. I know. Very comfortable right. Beach, the sunsets and the trees.

Eric: yeah see you tomorrow

Jane: bye see you.

Oh my god that was the most insane 30 minutes of my life
