The Prince And The Assassin

Chapter 1

I am a trained assassin that has been one of the best fighters in almost every class I have taken and I now know self defense and am skilled in using weapons. My best though is the dagger, it's lighter and is more reliable but I am only able to do jobs that don't require the use of a sniper or other things that need guns since I believe it's more eof a hassle to keep stealthy and clean.

Today at around 10 am I was called to the agency I work at that presented me with quite the difficult job. The client was sitting at the chair across my boss and was a silver haired male that had light, blue eyes but seemed almost as though he was the type of person that could knock someone out just because they said something he didn't like. The Aura around him made it feel like walking in a blizzard. I was confused why he needed someone since he clearly seemed able to do whatever job he needed to on his own, though maybe he isn't able to be quick and get it done without getting caught or he's just not the type who wants his hands dirty. I felt like I had seen him somewhere but couldn't place it.

I walk over a little but kept a bit of distance, something in me wanting to keep a bit of distance. After a moment I give up on staring at the man and focus on their conversation. "He is the best we have available at the moment so if you wish to continue with him, we will inform him of the details, and he should start today" my boss barely looked over at me the whole time I had entered the room and I assumed that she was probably not to happy of his request since she seemed so deep in business mode. I hadn't seen his face too clearly since he only looked over at me a moment, an only when I walked in so I was slightly cautious of why I had seen him before and where. Him not facing me made it harder too put a name and place on him.

I was close enough to them to hear their conversation, but I didn't actually care to listen what they were saying, though I should, but what I got out of it I had heard it was a high price, and he had agreed to let me but didn't think I would be enough. I eventually gave up on trying to figure it out after a few minutes, not having hot any closer to the answer. I began to listen again and hear, something that kinda sent slight chills down my neck. "....the prince is not as easy to kill as you think. He has had training made top-notch, fit for the future of the kingdom. Don't be fooled by his reputation." The man seemed to be almost lecturing my boss and she was clearly unhappy with it as her hazel eyes glared slightly at him trying to hold in her anger, and you could tell.

I finally figure out why she was so unhappy when he left after signing the papers nessasary just to ensure that the client understands that they can not back out of the agreement or certain precautions will be taken and is to say on paper that they have to pay no matter if the job is done. "the job was for you to assassinate the prince of our kingdom. I know, you probably aren't interested, but he is offering enough to finally get the amount for your sister's treatment." she finally spoke to me, her eyes focused on the papers but her anger cooled down.

Though she seemed in business mode, you could tell with her tone she was as reluctant as me but also we both knew that this job was important and shouldn't be denied. I think about it, my hesitation getting the better of me, knowing that the possibility of me being unsuccessful was higher then I would like considering someone that high would have a lot of security and if I got caught the money would be gone and this would have been a waste. I can't let this opportunity slide though. the last person I care about is on the brink of dying from her brain injury that was caused by our father's actions. It's getting worse and they said that her operation is vital to insure that she survives.

"You are to leave as soon as you can because the faster he is killed the higher the client said he'd pay." I hesitate before finally making up my mind and sitting in the seat on the other side of her desk. "ok. What information do we have on the prince?" she smiles slightly, and nods, as though saying I made the right decision before going back to business mode. She pushes a file to me and starts speaking as I look through his file. "since your target is The prince there isnt as much information as there normally would be but I believe there's enough to work with. The prince is known to go to this one bar on 23rd Street on the west of here, you should be able to find where that is, yes? how you get there is your deal. That is all we have. I'm assuming you know what he looks like? Ok good. Off you go." She was clearly done with the conversation and I knew better then to push further so I left without saying anything even though I barely remember anything except that he had black hair but I don't quite remember his eye color but I felt like I should. Like my brain knew it but couldn't say.

After a few minutes I had already gotten back to my small place and began packing quickly only what was needed. I brought some daggers, along with a gun and bullets just in case though I never plan on using it unless absolutely needed. It was messy, loud, and far more noticable and easier to slip up with. I packed some clothes in case it took longer and a bit of rashes like crackers and bread and some water. I didn't have any money to spare for transportation so I set out on my journey through half the kingdom....on foot.... alone...with barley anything..... This is gonna be a long mission. After what felt like 10 hours (was actually 4) of walking and only taking a few breaks, I made it a decently far amount but noticed the sky was growing dark and decided to find a place to rest. I look and wander around a bit as less and less people were around and it grew later. That is when I heard people fighting coming from the alley way that I had passed a few seconds ago. I assume I could possibly gain something from it if I'm lucky and since I was done walking anyway it couldn't hurt to check it out.

When I snuck through it cautious, I found an opening to a large space in between other buildings. There were three men on one side and one on the other. The three seemed to be trying to rob the one since they were wearing pretty dirty clothes and were holding weapons like a pipe, a small knife, and one was holding a bottle. the other guy was wearing a hood and didn't seem much better off though he had been wearing a lot nicer clothes despite the color of brown you could faintly tell he was clearly clean. The three men began to approach him more advancing on him but he just stood there looking completely calm. After they were almost close enough to attack I decided to intervene and took out my dagger and went after what seemed to be the leader and ran over to him managing to kick him from the side Right after he spotted me but it was to late and he hit the ground hard. I leaned over him and grabbed his collar while I put the dagger against his neck. when he hit the ground his knife had slid away but my main problem was wether to just kill him now or to just immobilized him.

The others try to attack me so I quickly just slit his throat and I turned around as the one with a bottle tried to stab me after breaking it but I dodged and kicked him in the gut witch made him fall to the ground in pain. The next guy came at me with his pipe prepared to swing at my head but I ducked and punched him upwards in the gut and as he dropped the pipe and held his stomach I tripped him with my foot swiftly and when his head hit the ground it began to bleed. He went limp immediately. The one who had the broken glass Bottle got up quickly and fled. After I saw them escape I look back at the boy since he was quite this whole time just watching, seemingly unfazed. I expected him to be afraid or surprised but he only looked slightly annoyed. The nerve of this dude. After I had saved him he didn't even seem to care.

Chapter 2

I stand up straight and look him in the eyes only to see light blue eyes stare back at me and let me tell yah- he wasn't bad on the eyes if you know what I mean. Anyway, his unbothered expression annoyed me slightly so I walked over to him. "I feel like I should get a thanks for helping you there." He looked at me for a moment and seemed to not have heard me so I just walked back to the alley I came from. It was already getting dark and that bastard didn't even say thanks for helping him when I could have been finding a place to stay. after I left the alley and headed West again just to get a little farther before night fall, I heard footsteps and turned around, raising my dagger to the strangers neck only to see it had been the guy in the hood before with bright blue eyes. He had his hood off and his silky black hair looked pretty against his pale skin.

".....what do you want? Are you Ganna thank me now?" I was slightly frustrated he was taking more time from finding a place to stay but I knew I can't kill him or it would cause more trouble so I put my dagger in my jacket. I cross my arms and waited. "I want to join you" for a second my brain thought he knew but I quickly remembered he couldn't so I played it off. "What do you mean?" "I want to come with you with your travels. You are on a journey, aren't you?" I think for a moment because I don't think I should give out such information to a stranger. "....why would you wanna come? You don't even know we're im going. Plus didn't you see what I just did?" I turned around uninterested and started to regret even helping him. He continued to follow behind me. "I assume your going to the west? The palace is probably going to be your stop or at least near it, isn't it? I need to get there to. The people I traveled with...left me." his hesitation before saying they left him felt odd for some reason. "Sigh. Fine, you can follow me. But Whatever problems you cause though I won't be helping you this time. Got that?" I kept walking, not waiting for his reply. Great. now I'm stuck babysitting. This is why I never help people.

With how cold it is I assumed he would get bored and act all spoiled but when night came he didn't complain a single word. Even when we decided to sleep in an alley. "Alright then, we'll take rest here. You should head to sleep now because we will make our move as soon as there's light." I decided I wasn't going to sleep right away just in case. I didn't trust him to not be a threat considering how calm he was and the odd vibes I had from him. He just nodded with a blank expression and layed down in the decently sized alley. It was weird to be so close to someone I hadn't worked with since normally I don't interact with people long. "Night" he had his back to me so I assumed he was going to bed and I just sat a few feet from him.

After a while of deciding and calculating how long each day would be and how much time in all it should take to get there I concluded if I was fast, two days including stops and possible detours. I looked over at the guy and realized I didn't even have his name. "....you awake?" ".......Yah..." he seemed almost annoyed, but I guess I was waking him up,, so it makes sense. "What's your name? I can't just call you a stranger, can I" "Damian. You?" I thought for a quick second if I should give him my real name. "...you can call me xan." I can't take the risk of him telling anyone he worked with that a suspicious individual named Xander was heading towards the palace conveniently right before an assassination.

There was a moment of silence before he spoke again. "....if you don't mind telling me, why are you headed to the palace anyway?" He turned over and stared at me with his upsettingly hot face. I just stare at him for a few seconds not knowing what to say. ".....I'm currently on the move and would like to see the palace on the way." I couldn't tell if that convinced him. Should I just kill him now? He would probably be more of a liability. I slowly put my right hand under my shirt were the dagger is kept and placed my hand on it where he couldn't see. "Why are you?" I stare at him not knowing whether it's better to just get rid of him now or not. "...my father is making me take over his job soon." He didn't seem to be lying, but his answer was suspiciously vague. "Who's your father?" He seems to get slightly upset at my question, a frown forming as he looks at the sky. I can tell he's not to found of whoever his father is and give up on waiting. "Fine. Don't tell me. We should get some rest though. In the morning I'll just leave, if you aren't awake and ready in time I'll leave you behind."

I sigh before leaning against the wall. I was used to sleeping in such conditions but now I had to worry about the guy, which means I won't get much sleep tonight. I glance at him, his back turned away from me again. I could tell he was cold, his sweatshirt a lot thinner then mine. He looked to be about 17-19 years old. Still young compared to me, I was 26. I debate wether I'll get in trouble if I'm traveling with a minor. People are great at gossiping and spreading false lies. I shake my head, trying to banish my odd thoughts and stare at the guys back. His neck looked delicate but he also looked quite strong. He was clearly doing something often since I could see some of his hand had calluses.
