On a sunny day, the birds chirping and the leaves falling to the ground.

"another normal day." i head to get breakfast. After some time, i went to my desk to write some novels. As I was writing on my desk in my room, I started to wonder where my father is. He had gone for work. Yet he hasn't come back since yesterday...

Worried, i went downstairs to ask my mother, Rakemi. A household wife. She was currently downstairs preparing lunch.

"Mom! Where is father?" I asked her as I was on the stairs holding the rails.

" I don't know, but I'm sure he will be back soon!" She told me. "You have been telling me this since yesterday! Yet he hasn't come back." I replied to her. "Maybe he just has a night shift." She replied.

"A night shift is where he comes back in midnight or morning! It's the afternoon!" I whined.

"Let's not worry. I am certain he is just late. Perhaps he had a drink at some sort of bar because of problems and slept in his friend's house." she turned around, preparing bacon for lunch. I answered,

"okay." I sat down on the chair waiting for her to finish preparing lunch. We chattered about random things as she was preparing lunch. Fast-forward after eating, My mother left to buy grocery for dinner. She stated to me that she will be back at 5pm. It was 2pm and i was washing the dishes. I heard knocking sounds come from the door. Curious, I cleansed my hands and head over to the door to answer. A police was standing before me.

"Hello.. How may i help you?" I asked… As i was asking, my mind thought of various things. 'Please don't tell me it's about father….', 'what if my mother got into an accident?' 'Why would the police be here?', 'did my dad get arrested for some reason?'.

"Are you Avery Herzi?" The police asked me. I answered yes. My eyes widened as i stood there, shocked. I immediately went running to the hospital, crying. I entered the hospital which... my father was in... Crying while i was sitting, a doctor approached me... He asked me the same thing.

"Are you Avery Herzi?"

I then again told them yes… only to be answered..

" we are very sorry for your loss… But, your father didn't make it. We tried everything We could." that…. my eyes turned dark.. It darkened and darkened. I went home… My mother was already there.. crying. It seems she had already found out..i hugged her to comfort her. It went on for days.. Depressed. Again fast-forward, we got over it. I heard a knocking coming from the door. I answered only to see the landlord. The landlord told us that our rent was due. My father was working and paying for the rent. However, since he was gone, we didn't have enough to pay the rent. My mother came downstairs to ask who is there. She talked with the landlord. Unfortunately, it was not possible to delay the pay. So we had to move to a new house.

"If only father was here..." i mumbled. The landlord told us that we needed to move the next day.

"Avery. Pack your stuff. We need to move tommorow in the afternoon." My mother told me.

"What!?? Have you even found a house we could live in-"

"I knew this would happen eventually so i already bought a cheaper house. It's old though. That's the problem. But we could still fix it! And clean."My mother interrupted me. advanced upstairs to pack my stuff. "i'll just throw the stuff i don't need away. Or donate, recycle, etch." I said as i was packing my stuff in my room. The next day, i woke up. I head downstairs and see that almost everything was already packed. "Woah! How did you pack all of that so fast!?" i asked her.

"I'm just faster than you. Because i'm cooler with the kids~~" She chuckled.

"oh come on!!" i sat on the chair, waiting for breakfast. My mother was cooking the chair. I decided to head upstairs to take my novel then go back downstairs to read it while waiting for breakfast. I chattered with my mother. Just a classis morning. Nothing else. Later, the afternoon had finally started. A van was there to pick me and my mother up.

We had finally arrived. The house was filthy. Lots of webs, bugs, and pests. It seems that this house is really old. it was rumored that there was an owner who d!ed in here. It could be haunted. This was the cheapest house for sale. Still wondering why it was still for sale though. Who in their right mind would want this house? Of course, my mother and I had no choice.

"Mom! I am going inside now." I tell her as i go inside. Not only that, but it is super dark even though it is daytime. I go to the switch. However, the switch doesn't seem to work. The house is full of webs, pests, dirty things, dirty corners, and more. walking around, it is really dark. It's hard to see a single thing which is why i got a flashlight. As i am walking, i notice that there is a second floor. It seems that this house has a second floor. Though scared, i go upstairs. With every step, i could hear creaks. As i am stepping on each stair step, i start to wonder what if this second floor doesn't exist?... It also seems that the stairs is long. I am counting each step i am taking. I finally reached the second floor. A total of...

 "50 STEPS!???" i say, shocked. It seems that this floor is where all the rooms are. I have reached. On my right side, it seems that there is a 3rd floor. However, ... I am not going there. I know i got guts going to the 2nd floor but i am not trying again.. On to the room section. there are three roomss to choose from. First, the pitch black room. This room is really pitch black and dark. It's terrifying... .......

 "Disapprove! On to the next one!" i state with a thumbs down. i head to the next room. The brown room. Lots of pests and webs. Seems quite nice looking if it were to be cleaned. However, i have a phobia of spiders so my choice will depend on whether the next aka the last room will be.

"disapprove!" another thumbs down. I head to the next room.. ...A.....

"pink room? Did a girl live here?" i start to wonder. This room also has webs.

 "Who am i kidding.. This is an old house.. Of course there will be webs and pests!" I sigh.

 "But.. What if the previous owner haunts me and my mother for living in their house? Scary.... However, i guess i'll approve.. This is a nice pink room after all! So.. Approve!!"

I put a thumbs up and head inside to explore the room. This room is wider and has more space than the others. I see a bed already. I head to the bed. A few seconds later, my flashlight goes out. I forgot i hadn't charged it to full battery.

 "No!!!" i shout in fear as everything becomes dark. I start trembling in fear. Regretting my decision to have went here. I run out of the room. Suddenly, i trip over something.

 "What is this…." i reach out to see what it is.

 "This feels like a flashlight…" i say. As i am touching it trying to find any buttons, i hear a noise. I hear a voice behind me. It sounds….

"Finally. You're here. I have been waiting for you." like a boy… The voice was calm and soft. "A button…" i mumble. I click the button and immediately turn behind. Nobody is there. My mind immediately wanders... "Nobody… i have read this in books before! The main character thinks it's just their thoughts… But… The house is actually haunted! Unfortunately, i will not fall for the tricks!" i run with the flashlight guiding me with light.

"Whew!" i have finally reached outside the house, crouching as i am catching my breath.

"Avery, what happened to you?" my mother asks me. i stand up and tell her everything that happened. She laughs, refusing to believe me.

"Just like in all of those horror shows." my mind thinks. My mother heads inside. She clicks on the switch and it works.

"Hah!? How come!? It didn't work for me! Maybe it Just worked now." i said.

"Right after you came in, i also came in. The switch always works." she replies.

"What!? But how come!? I was on the stairs and i never saw light! Only from my flashlight! The very minute?" i asked her.

"Yes. The very minute. and i didn't see you on the stairs." she replies.

"what!?" my mind thinks. Later, my mother heads to the stairs.

"wait.. Why do the stairs look shorter than usual?" i say. "what? No." she replies. i start counting every step she is taking.

"20 steps!?" i say. Again shocked.

"my dear honey, you must be hallucinating." My mother says. my mind thinks. "No!" the stairs that was on my right side is also gone.

"mom! Where is the 3rd floor!?" i ask pointing to the right side.

"Third floor? Honey, we don't have a 3rd floor." She replies to me.

"i knew it! This house is haunted!" i tell myself.

"honey,stop. It's just your imagination." my mother replied. Angry, also knowing that she wouldn't listen anyway, i agree with her. We start cleaning the house
