"Wake up Emma! Wake up, it's 6 o'clock!" The sound off Emma's voice she recorded yesterday was set as an alarm so she won't be late for the first day of school. She couldn't believe it, it was freshman year for her. She made it this far, now there is no turning back. Still feeling blurry, she stepped out of bed and turned of the alarm. She found her voice funny. Since it was the first day, she wanted to look her best. She didn't had any makeup on because she hated them. Like the texture doesn't feel nice on the face. She got her bag and wore cute Mickey Mouse socks with Vans shoes. Wore a crop top with rip jeans and her wavy hair tied up. She clicked the pen and ticked the items off her To-Do-List Before School. The last thing on her list was "Return his hoodie □" We all know what that means. Instead of holding it in her hands, Emma wore it over her crop top. She ticked the last one off her list and head out the door.
Spotting her friends, she found Lizzie at the entrance of the school, seems like she was waiting for someone. As Emma approached her, Lizzie eyed her. "There you are! How do you feel about freshman year?" Lizzie looked excited. "Great!" Caroline exclaimed. Lizzie and Emma turned and found their other best friend, Caroline, jogging towards them. "Yeah, it's awesome." Emma said, looking at Lizzie, then Caroline. As they went inside, they looked at their schedule. "History." "History." "History." They read out the first period of school. "Great! We all have the same lessons." They walked to their lockers and unlocked it. Caroline, Lizzie and Emma's locker were all beside each other. That's probably how they became best friends. When Emma closed the locker door, she found Kevan standing beside her. It gave her a fright. "Hey." She chuckled. "Hey." Kevan chuckled back. He pointed at the hoodie Emma was wearing. "Right." She said, smiling. Kevan, known as the very hot and handsome guy every girl likes, has a girlfriend. And that is, Emma. Instead if the girls hating her because she was Kevan's girlfriend, they all liked her very much and all wanted to be her friend. But Lizzie and Caroline said that they just want to get closer to Kevan, more like just using Emma to get closer to Kevan. Emma was aware of it, soon after, she forgot. Caroline and Lizzie, too, they thought that Emma had everything under control.
Emma took off the hoodie and hand it to Kevan. He gave her a quick kiss on the forehead and smiled. The bell rang, signaling the students to go for their first class. Emma, Lizzie and Caroline went towards the right, while Kevan walked towards the left. They waved goodbye, though they know they'll see each other during lunch. The three of them head in to History Class.
After they settled down and when Professor Alaric was about to begin, the door opened slowly and a girl stepped into the classroom, she looked a bit disappointed. "Right," the professor said, " this is Clarice and she'll be joining us for today and for the rest of the year." She was wearing black and white and had black hair tied up. Black lipstick was applied on her thin lips, black eye shadow on her eye lids and eyeliner below and on top of her eyes. Her name didn't fit her appearance. "Clarice, you may sit behind Emma." Emma wasn't quite paying much attention, but when her name was called, she snapped out of her thoughts. Everybody had their eyes on Clarice, but she didn't make any eye contact with anybody, she just looked straight down on the floor. Soon, class began.
"RINGGGG!" The bell sounded. All the students got up and rushed out of the classroom except for Emma, Caroline and Lizzie. They were always the last ones to leave the classroom. When Professor Alaric left, they realised that Clarice was still sitted on her seat motionless. " Hey." Emma said, dragging her words. That's when Clarice raised her head to look at her. "Hi." Her voice was deep and weary. Emma looked at Lizzie and Caroline, they spoke in their own kind of language that only the three of them understand. Emma nodded and looked back at Clarice. " You look lonely, Clarice. Do you want to sit with us at lunch?" Clarice smiled and whispered, " Sure. Thank you. See you at lunch." After they finished packing their bags, they head out, waving goodbye to Clarice. Clarice waved back.
"She seems nice." Emma said, grinning. "Who knows? Maybe she has a secret she never told anyone." Caroline said. " What are you? A psychic or something?" Lizzie joked. "Lizzie, I'm being serious here." Caroline said in a higher tone. "Hey, relax guys, nothings going to happen." Caroline rolled her eyes. "If that's what you say." They walked down the hallway and went to their locker.
Kevan and Emma walked together to their Geography Class while Caroline and Lizzie walled the opposite direction to their next class. " There's a new girl in my class. Her name's Clarice. I invited her to sit with us during lunch." Emma said proudly. " Is she nice?" Kevan asked. "She didn't talk much, it seems like she's really shy. She didn't make any eye contact with anyone." The both of them entered the classroom and sat next to right next to each other. " She's a goth by the way." Emma pointed out. "A goth? Really? Why would you invite goths to our table? You know I like colours!" Kevan complained. "It's only one goth not goths. And you don't even know her, she could be a fun person." Emma assumed she was a fun person. " You too don't know her, so don't assume." Emma just rolled her eyes. "It already been done anyways. We'll see how it goes."
At lunch Emma was feeling excited about getting to know the new girl, though Kevan didn't sound so pleasant about Clarice. When Emma got to the cafeteria, her friends were already seated at their usual table. "She finally rolls in." Lizzie said. "And no, Clarice haven't been here yet." Emma looked at the table and looked up to her friends, looking surprised, realising that her food was on her table. "I got it for you." Caroline said, smiling. Emma sat down and ate her food.
Kevan scoffed. "What kind of friend ditches her friends to do something else?" Now it's confirmed that Kevan hates Clarice. He's been complaining about her. "You're cranky today, what happened?" Lizzie asked. Kevan just gave her a dirty look. "Wow. Okay. I'm out, I don't want to be involved afterwards." Lizzie just left, she probably went to the library because she loves the library and she's a genius. The books helped. " Maybe she's being held back." Caroline said. "There's no way a student will be held back that long." Kevan pointed out. "Makes sense."
Footsteps were heard behind Emma. When she turned around, she saw Clarice, walking towards Emma. "Sorry I'm late. I had something going on just now." Clarice apologised. "Oh it's ok-" Kevan cut Emma off. "Busy with what?" He said harshly. "Hey! Chill, Kevan. It's only her first day." Emma said quickly, then turned back to Clarice. "Here, sit down." Emma offered. She sat next to Emma. "So, what do you like to do? Or what's your favourite hobby?" Clarice replied Emma's question but without looking at her. Because Clarice was quite close to Emma, she smelled blood when she spoke. Emma was curious, and asked, " Hey, what did you eat just now?" "Nothing. I ate nothing." Clarice continued to speak. Emma started examining her. She looked at the black dress Clarice was wearing. She saw a reddish liquid on her lap. Is that blood? Emma's eyes widened. "Emma, Emma." Caroline called. "Y-yeah?" Emma snapped out of her thought. "What are you looking at?" Kevan asked curiously. "Oh it's nothing, really." Caroline, Kevan and Clarice continued chit-chatting. Emma couldn't stop worrying. She kept on breathing heavily, the blood still could be smelled, and her worrying thoughts hit her again and again. Is she a killer? She murdered somebody? Who's responsible for this? "RINGGGG!" Emma "woke up". When she left with Kevan and Caroline, Caroline asked, " You're acting weird. Is something wrong?" Even Kevan looked worried. "I don't know. Pinch me, I'm dreaming." Caroline pinched her, and it hurt. "Great! I'm not dreaming. wow!" Emma sounded more worried and serious. "Is it about Clarice?" Kevan guessed, and was sure to be right. " Her breath smelled like blood, and the thing I was staring at, was a drop of blood on her lap." Kevan's eyes widened, Caroline looked surprised. "So I am right." Emma and Kevan turned to Caroline. "Right about what?" Kevan was just confused. " I could sense something wrong ever since Clarice arrived in our class. Something's fishy about her." "You're a psychic. Lizzie's right about you? You didn't tell me?!" Emma sounded mad. "We're not too sure yet. My relatives are psychics. They're the Bennet Witches." Caroline was in deep in thought. "But if your family are psychics, doesn't that make you one too?" Kevan was more that confused than before.
"Caroline, the Bennet Witch. Known as the strongest
witch on the earth!" An echo was heard from behind them. The three of them turned around at the same time, all shocked. The face could not be seen as it was too dark. Blood was dripping from her hands made a puddle of it. She ran away faster than how they imagined her running. Caroline groaned and chased after her and managed to take her down. Emma and Kevan rushed to Caroline. The girl was struggling, trying to break free of Caroline's grip. Caroline shouted, " TAKE OFF HER MASK!" Emma did as what she was told to do so. When the mask was ripped out, a bloody smile was plastered on to the girl's face.
