Today is my engagement ceremony with my boyfriend whom I’ve been dating since the age of 19 for 5 years. All relatives and friends will be coming over to congratulate us at our new villa.

As I’m preparing the dumplings, my fiancé Cheng Li whisper gently in my ears “ WenWen go get ready, my cousins and parents are going to arrive in 20 minutes ”. I feel so nervous and afraid because I’ve never meet his cousins before. After gathering myself together I quickly wash my hands and run upstair.

I pick the most elegant dress I have to wear and get my makeup ready. My overall look was simple but I feel confident and beautiful in it. After finishing getting ready I run downstairs and hug my fiancé and said I’m happy to have him by my side and that I feel safe with him around.

We both walk to the door and open it. As the door open it unravel 7 people. 2 of them are his parents I met before, 3 others are unrecognizable. The remaining 2 people who walk behind have a big wide smile but I feel empty seeing it.

When everyone has taken a seat on the sofa , I also take one next to Cheng Li. He happily introduce me to everyone and how we met at the lake. Everyone look congratulating but when I glance at the person across me , he asked “ is it the year I left and went to America”?

Cheng Li answer him with a yes and he told me this person is his cousin and the person next to his cousin is his girlfriend.

I awkwardly smile but that person smirked and said “no need with all that courtesy she already know me, am I right Wen Mei”? Cheng Li laugh and said “ oh really my bad my bad, but how do you know each other though”?

I follow up with a laugh and said “ ahahaha it’s nothing, we only met when we were childrens ”.

The reply next shocked everyone “ ohh really my dear, as children or as childhood sweetheart”?

I could tell Cheng Li was so angry when he held my hand so tightly that when I try to let go he turn around and whisper “ babe you never told me these, when we go back to the room later you should tell me exactly what’s going on or you’ll receive your punishment...”.

My fiancé is an abusive person but I appreciate him for saving me from the pain I went through 5 years ago. I couldn’t imagine what’ll happen if I told him what happen between me and Beichen ( my childhood sweetheart ).

The atmosphere was so tense and awkward when we finally sat at the table. I couldn’t swallow the food and just excused myself and went upstairs.

When I was finally upstairs alone i just look at the dark sky through the window. Couple moments later I saw the guests leaving and my ex holding his girlfriend’s hand, I can’t lie that I didn’t feel jealous after all there was so much misunderstandings between us.
