It all started when I was young... when I was 8, my family was robbed by a group of strangers and took my parents life. I luckily survived, but I wish I didn’t. I thought I was lucky, but I never knew that something that lies ahead of me was worse. After that incident, the Lien family broke down, nothing was left behind. They wanted me to be the next Young Master but I refused. This one person was trying to steal my family’s throne. With him there, I couldn’t join the family again.

Slowly, I became a orphanage and was sent for adoption. One of the Families from the 4 lords decided to keep me in. The 4 lords were the most powerful people alive, they had control over most things, and each had a lord to guide. Each 4 Lords were split into 4 families, each one had its own lord. People started gossiping of how they envy me. They were jealous, but they never knew what it was really like. I met a young boy from the family, about the same age as me. I’ve never really intended to talk to anyone after what had happened to my parents, so I stayed silent.

“ This is Ray, he’s our son, just a few months older than you.” I remember his mother said to me. She was the only person that treated me right. When I first took a look at Ray, his eyes were red, and cold. He looked at me as if he pretended I wasn’t there. His hair was a navy black color, split to the side, and he was proper. At least I thought he was. “Hi...” and there was no answer from him. Back then, I wondered what upsetted him so much that he wouldn’t talk to me. Was it because I joined their family? But things got worse from there.

I wasn’t treated right at all. Ray’s mother was the only person who cared for me, other than that, no one else did. Whenever Ray saw me, He would trip he purposely or push me away. He would yell at me harsh words. He never cared for he,neither did his father and I wanted to get out, I wanted to run away from him.

People would say we were brothers, but we would never call each other that. We were step brothers. I never want him as one. EVER.

He’s like a demon, no, he is a demon.

When I first found out, I was shocked. I was living in a house full of demons. And I didn’t know what to do. But I still kept it a secret, even now. But by the time me and Ray turned 9, His family died. I didn’t know exactly why but I remembered Ray weeping non-stop. If the family wanted to continue, they would need a new lord.... and yes, it’s Ray.

After he had become the next Lord of the 3rd lord family, he started treating me like trash, or, even worse. I couldn’t stand it anymore, so I ran away, further and further. I never want to see that mansion again, and... his face.

10 years later

It’s been 10 years since I’ve ran away, I’m 19 now. Though life was still a bit normal for me then, I’ve met someone who’s been a friend of mine for 8 years.

“Heyyyy, Hey! Sleepy head, get up right now! As a class president you shouldn’t be late!!” Daniel’s voice echoed in my head as I slowly got up to see his face look quite irritated. “Hm? Sorry.” I replied backing up to get out of bed. “Jeez you’re quite a heavy sleeper. Do you have any clue of how long I tried waking you up?!” He exclaimed. Daniel can be rough sometimes but childish sometimes too. But he’s my most trusted friend I have.

“Aaron! I’m surprised you’re even late!” Ms.Cheryal said as I walked in the classroom. “Sorry ma’am, it won’t happen again.” I apologized and took a seat next to the window where I usually sit. “Anyhow, we have a transfer student today...” she started. I couldn’t care less. A new transfer student, so what? It’s not like I’ve never had one before.

“Everyone please welcome Ray.” A wave of shock flooded through me with those words. Ray. And I thought I would never hear them again. The sound of gasps filled the room. People were murmuring things like “Could it be the 3rd lord of the 4 Lords?!” “What if it is!” Sweat trickled down my forehead, I was nervous. No please don’t let me see him again, please I beg of you god.

And boom what do I see? The same old red-cold stare looking at me. My eyes expanded wide. It’s him, it really is him. I tried covering my face as swiftly as I could, but he already noticed me. I immediately stood up out of my seat. “Er, ma’am may I please be excused?” I asked already sweating ten times harder. “Alright then, by the look of your face do you need to go to the doc-.” “No I’m fine, I just need....need to go to the washroom.” I cut her halfway and dashed out of the classroom. I swear I could feel his cold gaze tracking me as I went out.

I heard footsteps behind me and quickly turned around. “Oh, Daniel what are you doing here?” I asked. “ I knew you weren’t feeling right so I came.” He look concerned. “I’m alright. You can go” I wouldn’t changed to another class if I had the chance but no, I had to be stuck with this, this...idiot.

“I’m sorry for causing any trouble, I’m back.” I came back after calming down. I scanned quickly to see where Ray’s sitting hopefully not beside me, but just my luck. He was seated right beside my desk next to the window. I clenched my fist and ignored him, sitting as far as him as possible,
