Defying the doom
Gun shots echoed throughout the street as the rain began
the gunshots could be heard clearly throughout the quiet street
the lightning had begun as the undead were slowly dwelling upon the survivors

We are about to be out of ammo!

There are too many of them!
the rain was now accompanied by high speed winds
As the survivors continuously shot the undead, they ran to find a shelter
one of the survivors pointed at a restaurant

We should take cover there!
After walking inside the quiet and dark restaurant, the survivors who were drenched in rain were trying to find the switch board
after several attempts to find the switch board they gave up

What should we do?

We will be just fine. After a few minutes our eyes will adjust automatically to the darkness
replied another survivor sitting on a chair
the lightning struck, helping them see the blood stains on the counter
all the survivors picked up their weapons immediately and began to search the restaurant
they quietly began the search hoping to not find any zombies
after a few minutes they heard the shriek of their friend

Aaaaaaa! help me!
everyone rushed to the place where they heard the shriek from
when they reached there the lightning struck again enabling them to see the horrifying sight
they saw their friend's body being eaten by the undead while he continuously said:

everyone turned to run when they saw other undead coming their way
the lightning struck again as they realised that they were now trapped.
the survivors started eliminating the undead hoping to defying their doom but only a few survivors can't fight all the undead.
Nightmare of regret

Aaaaaaa! *Huff* *Huff*
A young boy woke up with a jerk, panting.
He looked out of the window near his bed and saw that it was still raining
he turned to see the clock when a lightning struck and shivers crawled down his spine

It's 3 in the morning...why do I keep having that nightmare again and again...?
Ash
Do I need to go to a psychiatrist...?
The boy said aloud scratching his head
He climbed down the bed to drink water when suddenly he heard a window shatter
The lightning struck as he stumbled back a bit
Ash
D-did the window downstairs just shatter...? Didn't mom close it before going to bed?
He thought to himself while he heard another crash downstairs
He didn't wanted to check but then again he didn't wanted to wake his mother up

*sigh* guess I gotta check
He cautiously climbed down the stairs not trying to make noise
He saw the shattered window as he came down and almost fell down when he saw blood stains on the floor
He followed the stains to the kitchen only to see the kitchen utensils fallen on the floor
There was no trace of any human
He followed the stains from the cabinet to sink and at last under the dinner table
He heard a soft scream from under the table
He pulled up the table cloth and saw a wounded kitten sitting at a corner

Oh no! you are wounded little kitte-
Suddenly the door swung open
mother
I AM NOT SCARED OF YOU! COME AT ME
A women in her 40's came bursting in the kitchen

Calix? what are you doing here, honey...?
asked his mother looking around the kitchen
He explained the whole situation to her
nodding her head, she said
mother
Oh, well- that's sad she must have got hurt from breaking the glass
Calix asked as his mother bandaged the wounds on the kitten

....We are keeping the kitten, right?
mother
Hmm...for now, I will return her to a animal adoption centre tomorrow morning
She looked outside the window
mother
Oh! the rain has stopped
Calix replied looking out as well

...I had the nightmare again...

Oh calix, not again...
She embraced him in a hug

Calix slowly closed the door to his bedroom
He slowly climbed his bed

He tossed around then sat up

He said while falling flat on the bed while searching for a good song

His hands started shaking and his eyes saddened

He clicked on the song and closed his eyes while listening to it.
After a few minutes he fell asleep
calix woke up with a grunt at hearing his mom scream

I am coming down, mom!
calix said running downstairs
fear and dread filled his face as he saw two people eating his mom's hands and legs
She looked at him with a horrified look
Calix couldn't move a muscle
More zombies intruded the house and started devouring his mother

At hearing this his mother came running upstairs

Are you alright, honey?
She said looking concerned
calix said realising he had a nightmare
He looked around and saw it was already morning

honey...I hope you are ok

alright! breakfast is ready. come downstairs after you are ready
His mom began to leave when she turned around in panic as of remembering something important
mother
oh! ash said he will be waiting at the same time

His mother said teasingly, going downstairs

then turned around and started running
He stopped infront of a park where ash was waiting
Ash noticed calix's presence

Dude! you are late again
Ash said walking towards calix
