High school, the time for love and friendships to truly blossom. At least that’s what I thought when I came to this school. Minato Suzuki, a quirky but shy kid who knows nothing of real life mannerisms. Is finally a freshman in high school. Many hopes were piled up in his expecting mind as he walked the halls of his new school. He looked down at his classroom sheet to find the room number for his first class; Room 401. As he sized up the students who walked past him and admired the artwork on the walls of the hallway he would occasionally glance up at the room numbers until he finally found his classroom and proceeded to walk in.
“Hey good morning Minato, so you finally made it. You know class starts in like two minutes right!” A small mousey looking boy who has dark hair, glasses and small Beady eyes spoke up as he walked into his first bell class. “Of course I know that, unlike some people who like to be early I like to be right on time.” Minato rolled his eyes and took his seat next to his friend who spoke up. “So you actually graduated middle school Haru! Your parents must be so proud and surprised.” Minato mockingly smiled at him. Haru ignored him like he was used to these types of comments.
“You know, laugh all you want. But at least I have a girlfriend.” Minato scornfully looked towards Haru. “How dare you go there, I’ll find one. We’re in high school now,how could I not find one! This is the time for parties, getting drunk and then waking up in a strangers house. And of course finding the perfect girl.” Haru sighed and looked away from Minato. “Your look on high school seems to be heavily inspired by movies... you poor thing.” A fake tear developed in Harus eye. “Shut up! A tied down man wouldant understand a bachelors life.”
As they argued back and forth the teacher walked in and shut the door behind her. As soon as it closed a knock came at the door. The teacher
Looked annoyed but walked back to open it anyway. As she did a hand with a note slid through the crack of the door. As the door opened fully a small girl with short black hair stood there holding a book. The teacher took the note from her hand and went back to her desk not even bothering to read it.
The girl creeped past the row of desk towards the back of the room and took her seat at the corner of the room. She immediately opened her book and sat down ignoring the stares from the people around her.
Haru leaned toward Minato and whispered, “she looks like an antisocial.” Minato ignored him and casually nodded as he stared at her. She had shiny black hair that curled at the ends and fell over her ears and a small delicate oval face. She had big green eyes that were practically glued to the pages of her book.
As he stared at her a whispering could be heard around the class, “Minato... Minato Watanabe, is Minato not here?” He recovered from his stupor and raised his hand, “Here, sorry!”
A few smirks could be heard around him but he ignored them and turned back to look at the girl at the back of the class.
“Mia.” The girl raised her hand without taking her eyes off her book and responded quietly; “here..” Minato smiled and inwardly sighed, “Mia..huh..”
For the rest of the class Minato half payed attention to the teachers lesson and the other half glancing at Mia reading her book.
Minato kept shaking his stupor away so he could focus on class, he was making a confused face. Why am I so interested in her, she’s not gorgeous, she’s not extravagant, nor is she fashionable. Haru quietly watched Minato and followed his gaze. “So you like her huh? You have wierd taste in women mister bachelor.”
Minato stared back at him and sneered. “Whatever, when did I say I liked her. She’s cute... but she’s not my type.” Minato looked back towards Mia who’s eyes weren’t on her book anymore she had glanced up to look around the class and made eye contact with Minato after hearing their whispering.
They both quickly looked away from each other, Minato was blushing and quickly acted natural like he was just looking around the room.
“So that about wraps up the class for today, as I explained this is your new home room for the next year. I’ll go ahead and reintroduce myself, my name is Ms. Himari. I hope we can all get along well.” As she finished talking the bell rung.
Mia grabbed her book in her hand and stood up and walked out of the classroom before anyone else. “So what’s your next class Minato?” Minato watched Mia leave and grabbed his things to follow her. He took his paper out and said aloud to Haru, “oh...looks like math with Mr.Zack. But I gotta go, he grabbed his things and ran out of the class room.
He looked down the hallway but couldn’t seem to find Mia. “Jeez she must of been in a hurry.” Minato looked back towards his classroom schedule and saw that his next class was in the next building over, Room 114.
Minato walked through the hallways to the door and out of the building to cross the school yard to get to his next class.
Minato found the next class without much trouble and walked in to find a seat. He took his seat at the fourth row closest to the wall in the third seat from the front of the class. He arrived a little earlier than most of the class and decided to take out his supplies and do some drawing.
The one thing I can actually enjoy doing, even if I’m not the best at it. Minato glanced up at times to see who came in the class and gauge who was who in the coming year. A pretty looking girl walked through the door with blonde hair tied up into pigtails and a dolled up face. She had two “lackeys” falling her. Both of them paled in comparison to the blonde leading them. She definitely gives off a “Mean Girl” vibe. She’s my type, but it’s best to leave those types alone.
The next person to walk through the door didn’t give off any special vibe other than their stupidly familiar face. “Ah, Minato!” A high pitched voice that Minato knew all too well came from his childhood friend and neighbor Hina. She had Brown hair that fell past her shoulders and she had a round face and rosy cheeks with a ditzy personality who’s only redeeming factor was her giant... chest.
She ran over to minato and tried to hug him, as she did minato held his hand out in a fast motion. “No not at school, we’re not kids anymore you can’t just hug me when you see me, People will get the wrong idea and then I can kiss my hopes of getting a girlfriend goodbye.”
“Buughh.” Hina made a bug pouting face and took her seat next to Minato the next row over.
“Your one to talk Minato! Who’s the one that hugged who?” Hina made a sarcastic glare at Minato as she looked at him. Minato wanted to say something back but couldn’t. Yeah well it’s your fault since your rack is so big; Minato thought to himself.
“Well whatever, I’m laying down the boundaries here and now so there isn’t anymore of that.” Hina looked annoyed but said no more about it. “So y’all are childhood friends well isn’t that cute.” A voice rang out from behind Hina. It was the blondie who walked in before Hina. Hina looked towards her and sneered, “Yeah so what, do you have a problem...eh what’s your name.” Blondie sneered and stared daggers at Hina. “Sara, and you’d do well to remember that you too heavy cow.” As she said it her lackies started laughing as if they were supporting her bullying words. Ahh now you’ve done it Hina. “Calm down you too. I don’t see why yall have beef on the first day of school.”
“She started it, I was just asking why my relationship was any of her business, Hmph!” Hina looked away from blondie but had a sad look on her face. Minato leaned towards her and whispered, “don’t listen to her, I think your chest is perfect.” Minato smilee and have a thumbs up. “Shut up!” Hina reached out and slapped Minato over the head. “Ow... what was that for!” Hina looked at Minato and smiled. “That’s not how you console girls, no wonder you don’t have a girlfriend.” She started laughing while Minato rubbed his head, Well at least I cheered her up.
As they talked, blondie tried to get a word in but the teacher had walked in at the ringing of the bell. “Good morning everyone my name is Mr.kenji, I hope we can get along this year.”
As Mr. kenjis class wrapped up the bell for lunch was about to ring. The only time of freedom for a high schooler during the day. Minato grabbed his things and began to walk out of the class with Hina followed by Sara and the rest of the students.
“So what’s your class after this one?” Minato pulled out his paper and took a quick glance. “Oh it’s P.E, my least favorite place to be.” Hina mockingly laughed and pulled her paper out. “I got P.E too but I’m pretty sure the girls and boys are separated.” “Yeah, thank god. One less class with you.” Hina made a putting face and playfully hit Minatos shoulder. “Your so mean!” Hina started walking faster to get away from Minato and to secure a place in the cafeteria which was only a 3 min walk away from the previous class.
Welp so far the day is going by smoothly. “Hey Childhood friend.” Minato turned around to see Sara standing behind him with her Lackies. Guess I spoke too soon. “Yes what can I do for you Sara.” “Hm! So you actually remember my name.” “Welp you just said it an hour ago. I’m not that short on memory.”
Sara sneered and laughed aloud, “Could of fooled me.” “Wow your so clever, how about you direct that creativity to tomorrows outfit and leave me alone.” Minato turned to leave Sara and her lackies behind. Sara who was now fuming watched as Minato walked away. “Ha... you just wait. I’ll make sure you have a great school life.”
Minato was already at the door to the cafeteria before Sara could say another word to him. He walked in and lined up to get his food. Voices from kids who got there early was filling the large room. It was a warehouse looking room with vaulted ceilings and pillars here and there. The floor was lined with circular tables that were spread out to make walking between the groups of people easier.
People in the line were all annoyed at the food choices of the day or worried about their next class or just not talking at all. The usual School atmosphere. Minato grabbed his tray and looked at the mystery meat pizzas that were being served and decided to just get a salad and some juice. He then turned toward the crowd of tables to look for Hina. She was at a table filled with boys and a few girls. Welp as annoying as Hina is she is very attractive and has an outgoing personality. So it’s no surprise she has people lining up to get to know her. I walked over and sat down in the last available seat next to her.
“Minato!” Hina excitedly said my name which put a sour face on all the guys faces. The girls hanging around the table weren’t really impressed and just ignored me. “So just a salad huh?” One of the girls sitting at the table said as they looked at my tray. “Well yeah I’m not eating a mystery pizza.” Everyone at the table chuckled and looked down at their trays. One of the guys took a bite of the pizza and talked with a mouthful, “it’s not that bad, it’s better than nothing.” “Yeah your right about that, but I guess since I have P.E next it’s better to eat somthing lighter.” “Oh you have P.E next, so do I.” I looked at the guy who said it. It was the same guy scarfing down the pizza. “Well lets get along,my names Minato.” The guy finished swallowing his pizza to talk, “For sure,Names Zack.”
I finished my meal talking mainly to Zack and Hina. I stood up to take my tray to the trash and grabbed Hinas for her as well. Most of the guys looked at me with disdain when I did. I ignored them and walked with Zack and Hina to the Auditorium where P.E is held. Welp lets hope the next hour goes by as quick as lunch did.
