[nudging Karen] Dude, you’ve barely taken your eyes off her since she started singing. What’s up with you?

[hesitating] Maybe. I don’t know if I should mix... business with something personal.

[laughing] Who said anything about business? Just talk to her, man. Worst case, she turns you down. Best case, you stop staring and actually do something about it.
[Backstage after the performance]
Devi Smith
[catching her breath] Hey Jazz, I think that went well. I felt... connected to the crowd for once.
Jasmine Carter
You were amazing! Everyone felt it. And, um, speaking of connections, there’s a guy outside who definitely felt something.
Devi Smith
[raising an eyebrow] What? Who?
Jasmine Carter
Some tall, ridiculously handsome CEO-looking guy. Kept his eyes on you the whole time. And he’s still here, waiting.
Devi Smith
[nervously] Oh god. I don’t know if I’m ready for some... suit to critique me.
Jasmine Carter
It didn’t look like he was critiquing anything. He looked mesmerized. You should go talk to him.
Devi Smith
[biting her lip] Fine... but if this is awkward, you owe me big time.
Karen Reynolds
[seeing Lena approach] Hi. I, uh... I just wanted to tell you, your performance was incredible. You have an amazing voice.
Devi Smith
[smiling slightly] Thanks. It means a lot to hear that, especially from someone I don’t know.
Karen Reynolds
[extending his hand] I’m Karen. Karen Reynolds. I... don’t usually do this, but I couldn’t leave without saying something.
Devi Smith
[shaking his hand] Devi. Smith. Nice to meet you, Karen. So... what’s a guy like you doing here, anyway?
Karen Reynolds
[laughing softly] Well, let’s just say my best friend convinced me to come out tonight. And I’m really glad he did.
Devi Smith
[smirking] So, this isn’t your usual scene?
Karen Reynolds
[shaking his head] No, not really. But I think I’ll be coming back more often... if you’re performing again.
Devi Smith
[teasingly] Is that so? Well, maybe I’ll have to stick around just to keep the audience interesting.
Karen Reynolds
Your voice is captivating enough to keep audience interesting.
Jasmine Carter
Sorry to interrupt guys, but, Devi we have to go.
Devi Smith
okay! Sure, bye Karen. Nice to meet you.
