Uncle Kim | Taekook
Who's coming?
Boy lay sound asleep in his room, oblivious to the bustling world outside. The alarm clock, now broken and discarded on the floor, bore witness to his morning rebellion - he had tossed it aside instead of silencing its persistent chime.
As the clock struck 11 am, the boy remained undisturbed; after all, it was Sunday, and the notion of rising early didn't even flicker in his mind. Downstairs, his mother's calls echoed through the house, yet he paid them no heed. His thoughts were consumed by dreams of his crush and the whims of love.
A sudden warmth enveloped him, signaling the cessation of the room's air conditioning and fan. With a disgruntled groan, he acknowledged the intrusion into his tranquil slumber.
He opened his eyes to find his mother standing beside the switchboard, a pink pan gripped firmly in her hand. His heart sank as he sensed her palpable anger.
Jungkookie
"What?" asked, his voice tinged with a pout.
Mrs Jeon
"Don't be a lazy ass, get up now. I've been calling you for the past 30 minutes, and you didn't even bother to wake up," his mother scolded him, her tone stern and unyielding.
Jungkookie
"But Eomma, today is Sunday, let me sleep," he protested, his eyelids heavy with the allure of slumber.
However, his attempt to retreat into sleep was swiftly thwarted by his mother's next words, which pierced through his drowsiness like a sudden jolt of electricity.
Mrs Jeon
"Jungkook, your Uncle is coming from London today," his mother announced, a mischievous smirk playing on her lips as she anticipated her son's reaction.
Jungkookie
"Unc... uncle??" Jungkook's eyes widened in disbelief, adrenaline coursing through his veins as excitement surged within him.
He sprang out of bed and rushed towards his mother, his heart racing with anticipation.
Jungkookie
"Uncle? Do you mean Uncle Kim?" he inquired eagerly, his eyes shining with hope as he awaited his mother's confirmation.
Mrs Jeon
"Yes, but why is my son so excited at the mention of his name?" she teased, a knowing twinkle in her eyes as she playfully feigned ignorance.
Jungkook, now resembling a ripe tomato, blushed furiously under his mother's teasing gaze, unable to contain his excitement at the prospect of seeing his beloved Uncle Kim once again.
Jungkookie
"I... it's because I'm gonna see him after 4 years," he confessed, his voice tinged with a hint of melancholy. His heart felt heavy, as if aching in every corner. He closed his eyes, feeling the sting of tears welling up.
Mrs Jeon
"Do you miss him that much?" Mrs. Jeon inquired, her voice gentle with understanding. Jungkook nodded slightly, his eyes moist with emotion.
Jungkookie
"So much, Eomma," he replied, his smile bittersweet with longing.
Jungkookie
"When is he coming and where is he going to stay? For how many days is he coming? Will he go back to London? Will he leave me again?" Jungkook bombarded his mother with questions, his eagerness palpable.
Mrs. Jeon chuckled softly at her son's barrage of inquiries, her affection for him evident in her warm gaze.
Mrs Jeon
"He's coming this evening, and he was planning to stay in a hotel. But your Appa didn't like the idea, so he invited him to stay with us until he left. As for the rest of your questions, you should ask your Uncle Kim yourself. You're 21 now, Jungkook. Be brave," she advised gently, patting Jungkook's head lovingly.
Jungkookie
"Yes, Eomma," Jungkook responded, determination flickering in his eyes as he absorbed his mother's words.
Mrs Jeon
"Come downstairs after getting ready, okay? And make sure to clean your room. You know how Uncle Kim doesn't like messy rooms," Mrs. Jeon reminded him with a knowing smile.
Jungkookie
"Sure, Eomma," Jungkook replied, his cheeks flushing with shyness.
Mrs. Jeon departed, offering her son a parting wish of 'All the best' as she left him to prepare for the long-awaited reunion.
Jungkookie
"Good morning, appa," Jungkook greeted as he planted a peck on his father's left cheek, finding Mr. Jeon is engrossed in the morning newspaper.
Mr Jeon
"It's afternoon, young boy," Mr. Jeon chuckled, amused by his son's tardiness. Jungkook pouted and settled down beside him.
Jungkookie
I'm not sorry, appa. I overslept because today is Sunday," Jungkook defended himself with a hint of defiance.
Mr Jeon
"Just tell me that you were busy dreaming of your crush," Mr. Jeon teased, a mischievous glint dancing in his eyes.
Jungkookie
"Aishh, appaaa... not you! Don't tease me," Jungkook protested, his cheeks flushing with embarrassment.
Mr Jeon
"Haha, not sorry. By the way, did you eat anything?" Mr. Jeon shifted the conversation, his tone light and casual.
Jungkookie
"Yup, I did. What about you?" Jungkook inquired, trying to steer the conversation away from his morning mishap.
Mr Jeon
"I had my breakfast too," Mr. Jeon replied, his attention momentarily diverted.
Jungkookie
"By the way... I heard from Eomma that Uncle Kim is coming from London," Jungkook mentioned, his fingers fidgeting nervously.
Mr Jeon
"Yes, he's coming. I'll go to pick him up from the airport in about an hour," Mr. Jeon confirmed, his expression thoughtful.
Jungkookie
"Can I come with you too? Please," Jungkook pleaded, unleashing his secret weapon: puppy eyes.
Mr. Jeon quickly averted his gaze, knowing all too well the power of Jungkook's puppy eyes. He could never resist them.
Mr Jeon
"No, you can't. You should do your homework, okay? You'll see him anyway since he's staying here," Mr. Jeon reasoned, trying to maintain authority despite his son's irresistible charm.
Jungkookie
"Thanks for convincing him," Jungkook remarked, a hint of gratitude lacing his words.
Mr Jeon
"He's so stubborn, haha. I know," Mr. Jeon chuckled, acknowledging his son's persistence with fondness.
Family dynamics intertwined with teasing banter filled the room, setting the stage for the anticipated reunion with Uncle Kim.
Jungkook sat on the edge of his bed, frustration evident on his face as he sifted through his wardrobe, searching for the perfect outfit to impress his crush.
Jungkookie
"I don't have anything to wear... why, God," he lamented, letting out a melodramatic sigh.
Mrs Jeon
"What's wrong, my dear?" A familiar voice sounded from behind him, and he turned to see his mother approaching.
Jungkookie
"I don't have anything to wear, Eomma," Jungkook complained, his exasperation palpable.
Mrs Jeon
"You literally have a whole shop, Jungkook. You own so many branded clothes," Mrs. Jeon retorted, her expression a mix of disbelief and amusement.
Jungkookie
"I know, Eomma. But I've already worn them once, and I don't have the clothes I want," Jungkook explained, his pout betraying his disappointment.
Mrs Jeon
"Oh, God! Your dad and Uncle will be here in a few minutes, and here you are still looking for a dress," Mrs. Jeon exclaimed with a hint of exasperation.
Jungkookie
"Then what should I do? I don't want to look ugly in front of my cru... Uncle Kim," Jungkook cursed inwardly, almost letting slip his true intentions in front of his mother, unaware that she was already in on the situation.
Mrs Jeon
I knew you would do this, so I bought a new pair of clothes for you," she revealed, retrieving a box from somewhere in the bedroom.
Jungkookie
"I never noticed this," Jungkook remarked, surprised.
Mrs Jeon
"Because I hid them from you," his mother confessed, passing him the box.
Mrs Jeon
"Now go and get ready. I'll go downstairs... come first and help me in the kitchen," she instructed before leaving the room, leaving Jungkook to prepare for the impending arrival of his father and Uncle Kim.
