As the evolution of the world collides gaining knowledge and development over the years. Myths and legends being constructed by those few who could write and read in the old days. Yet after all that the world has suffered from, let alone the choices by inventors who exclaim a new way for survival, would anyone in any lifetime be prepared for this…
The white blond hair, soft like pure fur, straight down to the hip. Gorgeous ocean blue eyes, with a pinch of green that shined brighter than the sun. White skin that resembled snow that fell down from the sky. “Did i die?!”
My name is Natalia Newton, I'm twenty seven. I'm not anyone special, but I spent my whole life studying wasteful boring things I didn't get to use in my upcoming years. like every blind lover girl on the planet I was chasing a man with no dignity or heart. I was smart, but not smart enough to see a two faced man in front of me. That was until I died from my shit fiancee who killed me out of boredom. Cries of the vivid black screen that only showed my face. Suddenly, blacking out through the various scenes my eyes opened again.
Strange air that was slightly hard to breathe in, voices that flashed my mind.
“Ughh…” I grunt.
My eyes were barely open, as I lifted myself up into a sitting position. I crept out of the bed, while my feet hit unfamiliar floorboards. The wind and air felt unfamiliar, the room was unfamiliar, I felt…. Lost…
“I thought I died? Is this heaven” while I blankly stared at the room from top to bottom, I noticed a bright light shining brightly past my eyes. It reflected off a mirror, as I walked in front of it to see myself. I felt rather small, and I understood why once I stepped into the light.
“Aaaaahh!” I screamed.
Loud footsteps came charging in, banging on the door a deep concerned voice yelled.
“Miss are you alright?!”
I grappled tightly onto my hair, almost pulling it out. Retracing my steps from when I first opened my eyes to when I last closed them. While I had my silent mental breakdown I took another look into the mirror.
“Who the hell is this?” I couldn't believe my eyes.
The young girl who stood in the mirror was like a beautiful fantasy protagonist I used to write about. To give an easy few word summary, I resembled an arctic fox with blue eyes. Yes, I, me.
“Nevada!” A lady yelled.
She sounded angry, but concerned. I heard the footsteps of the voice fade, when they became louder as if she was charging towards.
“What the hell?” I guessed the name of this young girl was Nevada, and the lady screaming is her mother? Well just in a matter of seconds the lady stormed through the door.
“Nevada my baby! Oh my dear gods if you were hurt again your mother would haunt me dead!” She chuckled concernedly.
“You are?” I asked.
“The doctors said you'd have some head issues and suffer some great memory lost. But i didn't think you’d forget your aunty” She placed her hand on my head side.
“My darling your classes are starting soon, I was told your issues of head anatomy wouldn't affect your class. They’ve been warned, but I've also heard you've been doing a horrible effort in educational learning.” She sighed, seemingly staring blankly at my confused expression.
“Me? Doing a horrible effort?” I chuckled thinking she was joking, unaware I wasn't a genius like in my old life.
“Yes you, who else? You've never put your mind to anything other than boys, you're so timid minded and a bloating idiot” She said, flicking my head.
“I'm lost” I say.
“Then let me explain, Nevada Rose Garstina. You suck at proper etiquettes, any etiquettes at all really. You can't dance, you don't know anything about history, psychology and the list goes on. The only thing you seem to be good at is ditching classes, and gossiping about wedded men and their wives to get rid of their future. You're an eleven year old evil brat, I call my niece. Who i obviously love and take care of, or your dead mother would kill me. Theoretically” She kisses my forehead, while she folds the dresses placed on the ground.
“A large summary, very… straightforward…” I didn't expect to be introduced to the newly found world of mine like that, very unexpected.
“And you?” I ask.
She turns, and smiles faintly. She snickers a bit while picking up the clothes off the floor.
“I'm your aunt Franca Rose Garstina. I'm a noble and a well respected lady. I'm married to the love of my life, James Loute Reyus. He's a noble who could have succeeded in his name as a high noble. But he did what he wanted and became a teacher against his family's consent , it just drew me in how, how do you say…”
“Ballsy he was?” i ask again.
“What?” she answers back.
“Ballsy, you know. A guy with big balls, and huge guts” She looked at me with a confused disgusted face, while I blandly acted like it was normal.
“Nevada! That's disgusting” she yells, sighing seconds later.
“Well you have your melodramatic love story i'm not interested in, and can you tell me where we are? Beside this- i mean me, being an idiot” looking around, dancing my eyes through the tall windows and walls.
“You know it honestly sounds like I'm talking to a stranger, you sound old yet never more immature” she laughs, as she sits me down on a sofa.
“Let's make this simple, your parents are both dead. We are currently living in the imperial capital, your eleven years old and have class sessions to arrive in approximately seven minutes. And if you dont attend them in five minutes, I'll have you clean this manshin top to bottom” she kisses my forehead again, and cuddles me goodbye.
“Wait manshin?!” Before I could comprehend what she just said, the doors opened.
“Miss you have five minutes to get ready” the maids were shivering, bruises all over them. What did this girl do to them?
“Alright…” I stared off into the unknown skys, my response shocked them.
“Well?” They quickly came over to me, charging me.
“Wait!! Get off me, what the hell are you doing?!” They stopped, stepping back.
“We’re simply getting you ready, I'm sorry Miss forgive us if we offended you.We beg of you to punish us after you're dressed” I was completely speechless, and quite traumatised.
“Are you serious, what timeline is this ancient age? Millions of years have passed, who needs maids anymore?” I jokingly laugh. The seriously confused look on their faces sends shivers through my spine.
“Miss, the ancient ages happened about fifty years ago. Since then, magic knowledge has evolved.” I pause, there it is… her answer wasn't pleasant, and it was certainly not what i was expecting to hear.
“Magic? Like swishy colorful things that come out of your hand and explode?” Not the best explanation, they were even more confused.
“How to explain...Magic, like spells. Grimoires, the books of magic? Like magic, magic? Like, ughh you get it.” Their faces made the expression of someone who doesn't get it.
“You get it right?” I ask again.
“Huh, oh yeah, yes, of course you miss your completely right” they immediately answer with agreement, but their faces are telling me they're talking to an idiot.
“Oh… alright… So how do I learn about this magic?” They look at eachother, and awkwardly smile.
“Hell no! No, no, no, no!” The maids led me to a dark staircase going down.
“Okay look, i get it. You want to kill me for the terrible things i did to you in the past, but this… do you know the sin to kill someone who's met death already huh!” I probably misunderstood, because the three girls looked at eachother with confusion in their eyes.
“Miss we wouldn’t dare-“ before they could speak another word, I placed my hand on her shoulder.
“It's alright, I get it, I really do. But if you think i'm going down there. You got something coming your way!” They all sighed.
“Miss please listen, the way down here is where Master Reyus stores his books of magic and sorcery. But we will only have a look, Sir Reyus says never to go through the door.”
“Oh…” I relieved myself for the seconds, and started snickering.
“Come on that's kind of funny” the maids had a fearful expression that turned into laughter.
“Alright miss, let us continue.” We were led down to a dark tomb, with tens of thousands of books.
“Now young miss, your class has started you-'' I stared at the bookshelves, and the amazing scenery I witnessed. Before they made their way up, they saw I was already through the door.
“Holy shit!” I yelled
“Language!” A man came from the shadows, or further more an animal of some sort.
“AHHH” I screamed.
A living, talking animal. a man with goat horns, and glasses with a mens suit, was he the devil?
“What the hell are you!” I yelled.
He blocked his ears and sighed, he made his way to the maids.
“Do you child have an explanation to why your personal maids have bruises all over them?” He gave me a mean look, as he flicked up his glasses.
“her memories have vanished. She even forgot who lady Garstina and Sir Reyus are. Please spare us, we hadn't known you were locked up down here!” She sounded so scared, they all had such fear in their eyes. Well why wouldn't they, his eyes were pitch black and his horns and tail were red. He was the devil, well the look alike apparently.
“I am not aware why the daughter of the man who desperately wants me dead is in here. This is my first time seeing her, it'd be a shame if she died” he made his way to me, a vicious look in his eye like a predator coming for his prey.
“Hey! No, no, no, no bad! Stop!” I put my hands in front of me, as if the word stop would make him stop.
“I'm not a dog!! Stop-“ he froze.
“That Symbol...” he said.
The maids rushed up, were they just gonna leave me?
“The gods up above are you seeing this right now!… what are you?!” He tripped back, crawling off the floor.
“I don't know what kind of mind trickery this is, but i should be asking you that!” We both crawled away from each other, til he both hit the end of the walls.
“This can't be, your existence is only left of the ancient ages after they were extinct unless…” he picked me off the ground, and opened a few books around the shelves.
“Okay time is up, it should be your bedtime!” He said, while pushing me out.
“Huh wait!” He Continued to push me till I reached the door.
“It's not even the afternoon!” I yell.
“I'll send you a fire message when you come back, you don't tell anyone you visited here unless you want everyone you care about to die” was he serious? I couldn't tell, he was more scared of me then I was to his threat.
“What symbol?!” I ask
“Right on your shoulder, i'll explain later. Go attend whatever you have, and when i call you come back immediately!” He shut the door behind me quickly, leaving me speechless…
“Nevada?!” A man not muscular but quite tall. He seemed concerned, as he looked at me and the door behind me.
“The maids told me that the beast got a hold of you, why would you interrupt an ancient being's sleep! You could have been killed, even worse it could have got out!” For some reason, he sounded more worried about escaping then my death.
“Your aunt is waiting for you, I thought you may have grown up from your selfish troublemaker behaviour” he stormed back up, grumpy and angered.
“I'm sorry miss! We had to inform Sir Reyus, we’re sorry we brought you down here!” They all fell to their knees, shivering to the spine down to the limb.
“get up, everyone in this place is so melodramatic” i rolled my eyes, making my way up the dark staircase.
“Hello miss, I am your psychology as well as your mathematics teacher. Please take a seat” I sat down on the chair, as she slid me a paper. I was speechless…
“Now let's start from the top, three plus four is-” before she could start, i laughed thinking she was joking.
“Miss, I don't appreciate your interruption. Please let us continue” I was bored, this was childs work and that devil was much more interesting than this.
“What do i need to do to get out of here?” I ask.
Boringly swinging my eyes out the window, as she sighs placing her hand on the sheet of paper.
“Not until you finish this miss, im very sorry but your behavior is mandatory to be exceptional. Especially during a lesson” So formal, I looked back at her with my bored expression and looked at the sheet.
“Alright let me help you with your first set of questions-” The moment she looked down i was done, all were answered.
“Okay now about magic…” she watched as I dazed out of the window.
“Miss but-” she stuttered as I rolled my eyes, she flinched. I was very smart in my past life, anything that i didn't know was my entertainment because id learn something new. That's why I considered it wasteful and boring, because everything I was given from sheets to quizzes I knew all about them…
“I'd like to learn about more, exciting things. What else can you teach me?” I ask.
To my surprise she smiled, gently pulling off her glasses as she pointed to bookshelves.
“There's not much I can teach you other than those two subjects, I wasn't aware of your advanced level of mathematics and psychology. Your aunt made you sound…” She paused, sweat dripping from her forehead.
“Dumb, yeah ive noticed” I laughed it off, reaching for the books she pointed out.
“You’ll have dance, proper etiquettes, and embrdinary, in half an hour. After history and literacy, you'll have a hunch break in between, so would you mind answering more of these psychological and mathematical questions.” I jumped when she mentioned history.
“History?! About the world and magic and beast and mystical creatures! A world of fantasy yet a world of reality?! Oh sure then i'll finish this!” I jumped and jumped till my legs were exhausted. I didn't learn anything, everything she gave me was way too easy. But the thought of learning of this magical world was jumping ahead of me, I wasn't so bored anymore…
Twenty five minutes past… and… well…
“So around the ages when the world was young, were you not terrorized during an epic war or something?!” I ask another question, after my nine hundred thousand questions before.
“Uh yes… something along the lines of that, anyways so-” she stopped, for the nine hundredth time again.
“So what did they have more advanced than you? Magic knowledge? Obtainable technology?! Reinforced weapons?!” I was so excited, my brain would soon pop out.
“I'm sorry miss, I'm not a history teacher. Please keep your unrelated questions til your history class…” It was then the bell for me to go to my next lesson rung.
“Time really flies huh Miss Trest!” she had no choice but to nod and smile.
“It worked… i annoyed her enough, she shouldn't come back… Hopefully…” I mumble, making my way to the next lesson.
