The Immortal Forest

"The Calling of Darkness"

It was a beautiful morning, and the sun bathed the world in its warm glow. The bell of Sullivan School rang sharply, signaling the end of the lesson. The teacher closed the book with a soft thud, turning to Eve with a thoughtful expression.

"Eve," she began, her voice calm yet inquisitive, "What have we learned from this chapter? And tell me, do you believe vampires truly exist?" Eve paused for a moment, her gaze drifting as if lost in thought. "I guess," she replied quietly, her voice tinged with uncertainty.

The teacher nodded, satisfied with the response, and left the room, the door clicking softly behind her.Eve remained seated, her fingers lightly tapping the desk. Beneath her calm exterior, she harbored a secret—Eve wasn't just an ordinary student. She possessed the rare and mystical ability to control ice. A frost fairy by nature, she had the power to summon snowflakes with a mere thought, to create icy wonders with a wave of her hand. But despite her extraordinary gift, Eve preferred a normal life, one filled with the simplicity of school and friends.

Her true passion, however, lay in vlogging—capturing the world through her lens, sharing snippets of her life, though her magical abilities remained hidden from her viewers. To them, she was just another teenager with a knack for storytelling, never suspecting the ice-bound secret that lay beneath the surface.

As the evening settled, Eve was recording a live vlog, her camera capturing the soft glow of twilight. The topic of discussion was vampires—a subject that had consumed her thoughts for days. She couldn't help but wonder: were they real? What would they look like if they truly existed? Known for her love of challenges, Eve eagerly delved into the mystery, recounting a peculiar story her friends had once shared. According to them, beyond the dense jungle, there was an elusive mansion, hidden away from the world, where vampires were said to reside. She couldn't help but chuckle at the thought, dismissing it as an outlandish fantasy—after all, how could such creatures ever truly exist?

As Eve finally began to drift off to sleep, her mind was still haunted by the image of the vampire mansion. It lingered in her thoughts, vivid and haunting, as though calling to her. The more she thought about it, the stronger the pull became—a strange, almost magnetic desire to visit the place. She glanced at the clock, surprised to see it was already 2 a.m. But the feeling in her chest was undeniable; something was urging her to go there.

Startled, she woke up at 2 p.m. the following day, her mind still fixated on the mansion. The image of it, along with the haunting thought of beings with fangs, was now all she could see. She couldn't shake the overwhelming curiosity. Eve knew then that she had to go. The next evening, she decided, would be the moment to uncover the truth behind the whispers. Was there really something lurking in the shadows of that mansion? Were there truly vampires waiting for her?

The next morning, Eve walked into school with a quiet intensity, her mind swirling with thoughts of the mysterious mansion deep in the jungle. As she approached her locker, she saw Aria standing by the door, her usual cheerful demeanor already in place.

Eve couldn’t wait any longer. With a spark of excitement, she asked, "Aria, would you want to come with me to find that mansion in the jungle?"

Aria’s eyes narrowed, her expression hardening in disbelief. She shook her head, stepping closer to Eve as if to make sure she was hearing her right. "Are you out of your mind, Eve?" she snapped, her voice thick with concern. "Do you want to die young or what? Nobody's ever come back from that place! Anyone who’s tried is either dead or vanished without a trace. It's not just a rumor—it’s a fact. You can’t be serious about this."

Eve stood there, the weight of Aria's words pressing against her chest, but she refused to let go of the thought that had been haunting her. Her face turned to an unreadable mask, a strange, almost wistful expression crossing her features. She hesitated for a moment, then said softly, "I… I don’t know, Aria. I just have to know what’s out there."

Aria stared at her in disbelief, shaking her head in frustration. "Please, Eve. Don't even think about it. It’s not worth your life."

Eve’s voice was barely a whisper as she responded, the resolve in her eyes stronger than ever. "Okay... but I have to go.Even if it’s dangerous, I need to see it for myself."

Aria sighed heavily, a mixture of concern and helplessness in her gaze. "I can’t stop you, but I’ll never understand why you’re risking everything for some stupid myth."

Eve’s lips curved into a quiet, almost imperceptible smile. "Sometimes, the myths are the only things that make sense."

This version enhances the emotional stakes, the tension between the characters, and Eve’s inner conflict, while giving Aria a more solid stance of concern and frustration.
