The bell rang, signaling lunch break, We both walked out of class, talking and laughing at the corridor.
Haru
"Hey, let's go take a walk?…"
He said, his voice rich, soothing and also captivating, barely above a whisper.
I smiled at him and nodded, taking a bite of the small bar of butterscotch he bought me.
As we walk, I looked down and noticed the bracelet with a heart pendant on his wrist, i thought of it looking familiar but i couldn't quite put a finger on it, It looked like a bracelet that pairs with another bracelet, kind of like what couples wear.
Rein
"So.. you have a girlfriend?.."
His smile turning faint as he corrected me.
I turned silent as I think of him being offended by my forwardness
I murmured as he gently patted my shoulder,
Haru
"it's fine, you're probably just curious, continue asking. "
He said as a small smile appeared on his lips
Rein
"Urm.. so you have an ex girlfriend?..",
Rein
"Well.. where is she now?..."
I asked as me and Haru sat down on a bench,
Haru
"Actually, we haven't broken up yet.."
Rein
"Then how is she your ex? "
He was silent for a bit, but then he replied.
Haru
"We were having a date at the rooftop of the dormitory, eating some homemade Butterscotch my mom made for her... It was a bad idea.. "
He chuckled, then stopped, his lips then turned into a frown as he continued
Haru
"While we were leaning on the railings, the rails suddenly broke down because it was rusting.. We were side by side that time.."
Some tears started forming in his eyes
Haru
"I tried grabbing her hand but we both fell, I tried to pull her close to my chest and flip myself over so i will take the painful fall instead of her... "
Haru
"But.. she was stubborn and kissed me at the last moment, pushing me away so i would land on the bushes while she fell on the hard concrete.."
He wiped the stray tears that came down rolling on his cheek and looked down at the ground
Haru
"She was lucky she survived, but.. She lost her memory from that.. It was two years ago when that happened.."
I turned silent for a bit, feeling guilty that i asked him about something traumatic.
There was a bit of an awkward silence between us and i decided to break it.
Rein
"Where is she now?.."
I asked, as he slowly lifted his head to look up at me, he suddenly smiled at me and hugged me
Haru
"She's right here in my arms.. "
