The crackling sound of the fireplace fills the cozy living room as Aron sits comfortably on his leather armchair, his intense gaze fixed on the soccer match playing on the large flat-screen TV. He takes a sip from his steaming mug of black coffee, savoring the rich, bitter taste. The smell of freshly brewed coffee mingles with the faint scent of his favorite Cuban cigar, creating a calming ambiance.

As he raises the steaming mug to his lips, his phone vibrates. Frowning, Aron glances at the caller ID - it's Lillian. With a gruff sigh, he answers, "Hmm, what is it?"

Lillian's voice comes through, tinged with worry. "Honey, I need your help. Somi's stranded on Black Dahlia Road - car trouble. Since I'm out of town on business, I can't reach her and—"

"Let me guess," Aron interrupts, pinching the bridge of his nose. "you need me to play the hero."

A beat of silence, then, "Please, Aron. I'm worried sick."

"Goddammit," he mutters under his breath. "Fine, I'll handle it."

Draining his coffee in one gulp, Aron snags his Hummer keys. As he strides towards the garage, frustration bubbles within him. Of course, the kid would find herself in a situation like this. Somi, Lillian's daughter, has a knack for finding trouble – irresponsible and reckless, just like his troublemaker's sons.

After a half-hour drive, he spots Somi's car on the side of the road, the hazard lights blinking in the darkness. He pulls up behind it, the glare of his headlights illuminating the scene. Aron's boots crunch against the gravel as he approaches Somi.

"Kid," he calls out, closing the distance between them. He taps Somi's forehead with his knuckles, not unkindly. "When are you gonna start using this, huh? Life ain't always gonna send a rescue party."

Without waiting for a response, Aron goes to inspect the vehicle. He spots the problem immediately – a flat tire, probably from hitting one of the numerous potholes on this godforsaken old road.

He retrieves the jack and spare from his trunk. His large, calloused hands make quick work of the task. As he tightens the lug nut, heavy rain begins to splatter around them. "Dammit," Aron curses, feeling the cool kiss of rain on his neck.

"Truck. Now," he commands as he's gathering his tools swiftly.

Aron slides behind the wheel, taking a glance at the sky. "Storm's coming in fast," he says, more to himself than Somi. "You're bunking at my place tonight. No arguments. I'm not risking our asses in this storm."

Meet Somi soon to be Aron stepdaughter

Meet Lilian soon to be aron wife and his sons mother

Somi was feeling cold outside...*I'm freezing my butt off out here, shivering as the rain starts to pour. My teeth chatter uncontrollably while I hug myself tightly, trying to conserve what little warmth I have left. The flimsy jacket Lillian (mom) bought me last year is useless against this sudden downpour. I should've known better than to wear it tonight, but I was in too much of a hurry to leave the house.*

*As Aron approaches, I feel a flicker of relief mixed with trepidation. He's intimidating, always has been. But right now, his imposing presence is the only thing standing between me and the raging storm. I glance up at him, my brown eyes wide and pleading.*

"C-can we please get in the truck. *My voice wavers slightly, betraying the chill that's seeped into my bones.* *I rub my arms vigorously, desperately trying to generate some heat as I await his response.*

Aron glances over at Somi, noticing the shivers wracking her petite frame despite the truck's heater blasting at full tilt. Her teeth chatter softly as she nods, curling into herself for warmth. The sight ignites a flicker of concern within him, but he quickly tampers it down, attributing it to the cold and nothing more.

"Here," he grumbles, shrugging off his thick, lined denim jacket. He drapes it over Somi's slender shoulders, the garment swallowing her whole. It smells faintly of his cologne, a scent she's come to associate with her stepfather.

Aron keeps his eyes fixed on the rain-slicked road ahead, gripping the steering wheel with white knuckles. The wipers struggle to keep pace with the downpour, and the truck's engine roars as it plows through the deluge. Lightning flashes in the distance, briefly illuminating the interior before plunging them back into darkness.

As they pull up to the sprawling ranch house, Aron hits the remote garage door opener. The door creaks open slowly, revealing the spacious, well-equipped garage. He parks the truck beside his vintage Harley, the sleek machine glistening under the harsh fluorescent lights.

Turning to Somi, he barks, "Move your ass, kid. We're getting soaked."

Aron strides to the interior door, holding it open for her. He watches as Somi scrambles
