I Believe in You

Episode 1

"Let me go, please;

I'm innocent, please,

I would never hurt anyone; let me go," I shout to the officers who are holding me by both arms, dragging me towards the exit of my house.

Once outside, I see him, the love of my life, the man who promised to always take care of me and protect me. I try to get closer to him, even with the officers dragging me, but I achieve nothing, only that they hold me tighter.

"Steven, my love, help me, I'm innocent, I didn't do what they accuse me of," I say, looking at him with love and the hope that he will help me, but I am surprised by his cold and terrifying look, when he looks directly into my eyes, and says, "You have to pay for what you have done." When he says that, a terrible pain settles in my chest and I feel the ground opening beneath my feet because of his indifference. Once again, I am left alone. There is not a trace of that love he promised me.

"Steven..." I say almost in a whisper, but he doesn't turn to look at me and finally my father comes out and says, "Officers, take her away at once..."

The officers, although somewhat rough, seem somewhat surprised, since they know that the man is my father and his indifference and treatment make it clear that I am not important to him.

Steven, for his part, doesn't even look at me, while he takes Lili by the arms and consoles her as she looks at me and denies, but once she turns her back to me, she gives me a small smile.

I don't have time to say anything, as they take me away immediately.

Already in the police car, I think about how I got to this point.

"The day before-"

Felipe Ferrer, my father, calls me anxiously. I was saying goodbye to my best friend, Declan, at the airport because he told me that he was leaving for business and would be gone for a while. I assumed that was the case, but I felt like he was hiding something from me. Still, I didn't want to make assumptions and just accompanied him until he boarded his plane. He gave me one last look so full of nostalgia that I wanted to ask him not to go, but I couldn't do anything. I knew that Steven was jealous of him, so I just stayed there for a moment longer until I couldn't see him anymore and it was at that moment that I received that call.

"Hello, Samanta, where are you?"

"Dad, I'm returning home," I reply. "Do you need something?"

"No, honey, I just want you to pick up Lili, she's near her friend Julia's house. Apparently, her car broke down, can you go get her?"

"Yes, Dad, I'm going now."

After saying that, my father hung up the phone. It was strange that he called me honey, it had been so long since he had done that, but still I had no choice but to go get Lili.

When I arrived where she was supposed to be, I couldn't find her anywhere, but further on I could see another car stopped. I didn't understand what was happening so I just approached, since quite a bit of smoke was coming from that car. It seemed that there had been an accident, so I approached to see if anyone needed help and I could see a young man covered in blood. I approached to take his pulse and he had no pulse. Apparently, he was dead, and they had left him in that place. Just as I was taking out my phone to call an ambulance and the authorities, I felt a blow behind my head and fell into a deep darkness.

I don't know how much time passed, when I hear a commotion outside of... my room..., did I dream that?, I ask myself, but everything remains in that single question, when I see how they knock down my door and two officers enter telling me that I had to go with them.

I didn't understand what was happening, I just nodded, while I felt a pain in my head, what was happening?, I didn't understand, so I looked at both men and asked,

"What's happening?"

One of them looked at me with indignation and the other remained serious and he was the one who spoke, "You are accused of homicide and flight," he told me;

And there I felt that something was wrong, I had not done anything, why were they accusing me of something like that, I wanted to keep asking, but that officer who looked at me indignantly just told me not to waste any more time.

So I stood up, big mistake; since when I got up I could notice that I was still wearing my clothes and there were traces of blood on them as well as on my hands; the officer immediately said, "Cuff her."

I was in shock, until I understood that it was not a dream, so I tried to explain myself but still they did not want to hear me and they dragged me out, outside my home seeing the face of the person I loved looking at me with so much disgust and hatred that I did not understand why from one moment to another my life became like this.

When I arrived at the police station, they took me to a place where they started interrogating me. I try to answer and tell how things were, since my father did not send any lawyer, they gave me a public defender. At least they did not deny me my rights, still the detective in charge only denied and told me if he believed me stupid, my fingerprints were on that car, I left my car abandoned and had fled the scene of the crime, he shouted at me who my accomplice was, but I didn't know anything, I just denied and could see how he got more angry, I was so desperate that they didn't understand me that I asked them to check the place, surely there would be cameras.

The detective raised an eyebrow while denying and said in a very cold way.

"Yes, there are and you are seen approaching your victim, but after that you are not seen anymore, what the hell are you trying to do, are you trying to make fun of the authorities?", I just denied how that was possible.

Meanwhile in the Ferrer's house;

"Dad, thank you for helping me, you don't know how scared I was," says Lili, looking afflicted.

"I imagine, princess, but don't worry, I would never let anything bad happen to you, you are my adoration," said the man while mother and daughter smiled evilly without being seen by that man.

Episode 2

By Steven:

I'm Steven Wilson, a top prosecutor in most courts. My father is a renowned judge, the best in that field.

When my mother died, we both swore that we would always take justice into our own hands and punish the guilty as they deserved.

Everything in my life was full of happiness, except for the loss of my mother.

Samantha was the cutest girl in college. She had entered her first year at the law school I was studying at.

That's how I met her, and I was struck by her beauty and charisma. She was beautiful in every way. It took me a while to get her to notice me, but I managed to get her to notice me, and little by little I made her fall in love with me. The only bad thing was her best friend: Declan Stone. We all knew him. He is a very outstanding businessman. He started building his empire at the age of 15, and he is the number one in the business world, but he is an antisocial person. He has never had friends, nor has he been seen surrounded by women like others. Still, he is always close to her, and it bothers me, even though Samantha says that he is just her best friend since she has known him since she was a baby. Still, I don't quite believe it because I can notice that devotion with which he observes her.

So I asked her to stay away from him. Although she was bothered by my request, she tried, not completely, but I was still happy to know that she loved me as much as I loved her.

Over the next two years, our relationship grew stronger, although I hadn't touched her intimately because I loved and respected her, and she was a lady from her house. I would still make her my wife, so without thinking about it any longer, I proposed to her in the middle of the university courtyard. I know she was only in her third year, and maybe that's why she would want to think about it before giving me an answer. Seeing the indecision in her, I told her that after our marriage she could continue studying. I would never make her leave her dreams halfway.

So she immediately accepted.

My beautiful Samantha would be my wife. She was so happy that she ran to tell Declan, her best friend. He took it quite well, to my surprise, so I thought I had been making too many assumptions. In that lapse of time, I got to know him a little better, and I could see that he was really happy about Samantha's happiness, so he just approached both of us and wished us the best.

When we told him that our wedding would be in three months and Samantha asked him to be the best man, he only apologized and told her that he would not be present since he had a very large business to close in another part of the country and would be absent for a while.

Samantha didn't take it very well, but she still agreed. She knows how important her friend is, so she just smiled for him. A month later he would leave, but that day not only would he leave, but he would also see the true face of the woman I love.

How could she do it? I wonder when I see the cameras of that incident. Once again, my blood boils. How could I be so blind and let myself be deceived only by her beauty? She was a wretch. She had abandoned a young man to his fate who could have survived if she hadn't left him there alone and escaped from her crime. I hated so much that being who abandoned my mother until her death that I didn't realize that now all my hatred and indignation was directed towards the woman who had promised to always love and protect me. Those last words were forgotten after seeing those images.

I couldn't do anything. The trial would take place in a week. The young man's family was crying bitterly, shouting for justice, and that's why I agreed to be the prosecutor in this case. At first, they wanted to refuse because many knew my relationship with Samantha, but my father intervened when he saw me so determined. He asked me if I was sure, and I told him yes, that I would make her pay for what she did. Hearing those words from me, he only accepted and told me that he only hoped that I would not regret it later. After all, she was the woman who was going to become my wife in a couple of months.

I just nodded. I knew my father appreciated her and that he was disappointed by what she had done, but I couldn't deny that even though it hurt me, I would never act against what I am and think, so I was sure to make her pay and throw her in jail for her crime.

By Gabriel Stone,

I am Gabriel Stone, I am 24 years old. I am not only Declan's assistant but also his friend, right-hand man and cousin. I have always known of my cousin's deep love for little Samantha. I call her that because she was always the smallest among us. I was sure that one day those two would end up together until I was surprised to find out that she had a boyfriend. I knew that my cousin was having a bad time, and even more so when I noticed the damn character he was carrying at the company. All the employees were terrified of him. Nobody wanted to cross him. Although many women describe him as an Adonis, the truth is that in order to have the position he has, he had to become someone cruel and ruthless. It is not easy to be someone important, and I know the burden he has carried, especially seeing that his father detests him since all the fortune of his wife went into the hands of his son.

Although Declan in front of Samantha always behaved like the best friend, I knew deep down how much it hurt him to see her with another man. It was worse when a couple of years passed and she told him that she was getting married. He only showed her that he was happy for her, but he arrived devastated.

After that event, he decided to travel the following month. He needed to try to keep his feelings hidden because he was about to go crazy, so he asked me to take care of everything in his absence since not even I would know where to find him, because that was what he had decided. Who was I to oppose him? I only asked him if he was sure about leaving her like that without fighting. He only smiled and told me that idiot loves her, so I leave peacefully. When I feel that I am ready, I will return. I need to disconnect from everything.

I just nodded at this. It was not the first time something like this had happened, since when my aunt died the same thing happened, only that for that time Samantha went for him, somehow she knew where to find him.

I didn't say anything, and like his faithful squire I agreed to help him, I more than anyone was loyal to him, since he had helped me in the most difficult moment of my life.

Episode 3

By Gabriel

The day after Declan's trip,

A news item circulated in the media, but only until noon, as someone deleted it. However, I managed to see that it was about Samantha. According to what I read, she had caused an accident and fled, after ending someone's life. Reading that, I was sure it wasn't the Samantha I knew, as she would never do something like that. Then I thought that news was false, given that the information no longer appeared and the press wasn't speculating anything. But I never imagined that it was her own father who deleted that news so that her acquaintances wouldn't know what was happening. But, to his misfortune, through a friend who was a prosecutor, I found out about the case, and the worst of all was what he told me.

"Steven will be the prosecutor in charge of the trial that will take place tomorrow. That poor girl is incommunicado. It's as if nobody cares about her. I wanted it to be someone who wasn't related to her, but knowing it was Steven, I thought it would be best for her. But from what I've heard, it seems that he doesn't want her to see the light of day again," he blurted out.

"Why do you say that?" I asked.

"Because of the public defender they gave her. That poor man does nothing to help her, he just wants her to plead guilty."

"Public defender?" I asked incredulously.

"Why wasn't her family helping her and paying for the best lawyer; they have a good position, after all." (I thought but didn't say it).

My friend only told me that, then said goodbye and went on his way. The worst of all was that I didn't know how to contact Declan, as he was incommunicado. So I immediately contacted the best law firm, just to find that man; "Maximo d'luca," this was the best lawyer in the country. He had gotten several alleged criminals out of jail. I knew he wasn't just any lawyer; he was a fair man and held Declan in high esteem, but even so, when he saw me, he just said he didn't have time. He practically wanted to kick me out of his office without even hearing me, only when I said; "Declan Stone;" he gave me a strange look and let me continue.

"Tell me; what does Declan need?" he said without so much beating around the bush.

I didn't know where to start. That man really scared me. I was used to the terror that my cousin instilled in others and even in me, but this man looked almost like him; the difference is that I didn't know this one at all.

So I just let out the air; which I seemed to be holding, and told him what I had heard. The moment I stopped, he looked at me strangely and said in the coldest voice I had ever heard, "You told me it was about Declan, but nowhere in your story do you mention him."

"I apologize, my mistake," I said, as I had forgotten to tell him the most important thing. "That young woman they are accusing is the only person Declan shows love for, so please, I ask you to help me, because if Declan comes back and finds out what's happening to her, I know he's capable of wiping out the entire city."

"Interesting!" he said and continued;

"Tell me how it is that you are the one asking me this and not Declan. If I understand correctly, he is not in the country, but he could also use this to communicate with me," the man says, showing his cell phone. So Gabriel has no choice but to tell him why Declan left and is not aware of anything.

When Maximo heard that the prosecutor was the young woman's fiance and that Declan had left, so as not to see her marrying another, he just nodded and understood why he had suddenly disappeared.

So he just said, "What time does the trial start?"

"According to my friend, it's at 10 in the morning."

I know he won't have much time to prepare, but at least he won't be waiting to just be judged like her current lawyer.

Maximo just nodded and told him that he would be there. Once Gabriel left, Maximo called his secretary and asked her to call several of his contacts, as well as call the place where the young woman was being held, asking for the images they had collected. After seeing all the information after two hours, he just denied it and smiled.

For some reason, the young man had a rather cold look, especially when he saw that no one was getting any information about it. It seemed they wanted to keep everything hidden, they wanted to judge her and leave her forgotten as if the young woman didn't exist, "pathetic;" he said between his teeth.

The morning of the trial had arrived;

In that week, Samantha realized that no one would help her. That lawyer didn't even ask her about what happened. It seemed that he was only there because he had no other choice. She couldn't defend herself either; she still had two years left and knew that they had alleged evidence against her, so what could she do? In those moments, she only thought of someone who might be the only person who would believe in her.

But he wasn't there and she imagined that it would be a while without even hearing from him. What she never imagined was that through him, a great wolf would be the one to defend her.

Maximo's nickname was; "the wolf d'lucca," because he tore apart those who opposed his clients, somehow he always got the truth.

So while she just waited for her cruel fate,

Maximo just walked through that court with his head held high. Once he entered, he saw the young woman with her head down in her hands and the prosecutor looking at her with disdain.

"Damn idiot," he said in his mind. The judge had just arrived and everyone immediately stood up.

"Okay, take a seat. Let's start the trial," said the man, somewhat annoyed. He knew those present, so he didn't understand what had happened;

So he would just hear what had happened from their mouths. He knows that reading a report doesn't always indicate that they are the real facts.
