Keep it in mind that I do not own the characters in this story. Everything is based off of Haruichi Furudate manga series called Haikyu. I did create and write this fan fiction though.
Thank you.

The second semester of the school year had finally commenced.
Summer break was long and tiring. This went, especially, for one second year student. He had nothing to do. Which was nothing new to him. At least in school, he had something to do. Even though he did not like going. He thought it was a hassle.
Grasping his pen, Akaashi struggled to write. He never has had a problem with writing before but this was a different case, completely. Bearing the thought of failing this assignment, Akaashi wrote down everything but the truth.
The assignment was to write about a friend. That was all. Akaashi strived for a long time to find one of those; a friend. Never once succeeding, he eventually abandoned the impossible task at hand.
He grew weary as time went on. That is nothing new though. He does not get much rest when he is supposed to, affecting him in his school life.
Sometimes he would take naps in between classes.
His hand stood still as he had finished his last sentence in his writing. Not bothered to look over it, he handed it in as is, and left the classroom.
He walked down the overly familiar hallway, the pace was steady, no rush. He turned a corner before he made his way down another one. He knew the place he needed to go to was near.
The exit.
Akaashi leaned against the door that was directly under the illuminating white and red sign. A blaring beep escaped when it released from the hatch. Only half opened, cold, outside air hit Akaashi in his face, instantaneously. He shook it off and opened the door the rest of the way.
A voice echoed down the hall, "excuse me?" Akaashi's movements died as he gripped the crash bar. He knew he could make a run for it but it was almost like he was frozen solid. Footsteps started to become louder by each second. "Cutting class isn't really cool." The voice sounded as if it was right behind him.
He swallowed his own saliva, stepping outside of the building. His step turned into a dead sprint. The school became smaller and smaller as he fared from it.
Normal people would question who the voice belonged to. Akaashi, on the other hand, was not 'normal people.' He would like to think he was normal but he knew that was not true and that was alright with him.
Once the school was no longer in his view of sight, his sprint died down to a walk. He arrived at his house, momentarily later.
Akaashi sighed when he closed the door behind himself. He took off his shoes and proceeded to his room without a word to his parents.
The Akaashi Home

The endless battle of school work never seemed to end. Akaashi was used to that. Although, he could not help but to wonder how it was even possible that he always got his work done and turned in on time.
Then he remembered why that was.
He had no one to make him do something besides his school work, so he just did it.
Not exactly the nicest thing to remember but it did not bother Akaashi one bit. Instead, it made him happy. Happy to know that he would not have a nuisance bother him.
Once he finished the last assignment, his mind started wondering around. He thought about what he should do once he graduated. A part of him wanted to drop out before college but the other part of him wanted to go to college, and become an editor.
Akaashi had a good eye for picking out errors. Sometimes, his teachers would make him proofread peoples’ work. To him it was quick and easy extra credit. Per contra, others judged Akaashi. They said he was just a silent show off, who thinks no one is good enough to be his friend.
This, however, had zero effect on him because since he was a child he had blocked out people who he did not need to listen to. Anything people had said were silent sound waves to him.

Fukurōdani Academy
Thursday, 13th of September
When he arrived at school the following day after his little “runaway” act, he could not help to notice that the halls were devoid of people.
Even though it did not phase him that no one was there, he decided to look for everyone. He found them all in the gymnasium, sitting down in rows.
He listened to whomever was speaking. He did not care at all but was too bored not to. He heard something about the school wanting people to join more clubs.
To Akaashi, clubs were not his forte. Although, one night he dreamt of joining the Volleyball Club as a setter. Since he had zero setter or volleyball skills, that dream was, in the end, just a dream.
Dreams were something that never meant to Akaashi. He thought they were absurd in many ways. The terms “chase your dreams” and “make your dreams come true” always bothered him. They are dreams for a reason. If they come true then what comes next? Will you dream about what you do after that point in your life?
He started to walk around the school. His thoughts started to drown him. Unnecessary things would pop into his head. For example, if he turned off his night light before leaving for school.
Akaashi liked being lost in his thoughts. His thoughts were the only thing that he could withstand. He was good when it came to quick thinking. He could play out multiple scenes in his head and pick the one with the best outcome for the situation.
“Hey, you!” Akaashi broke his thought when he heard someone shout at him down across the hall. The voice sounded familiar. He, then, realized something. That voice was the very same voice he heard yesterday in the hallway. Why was it back? What could it possibly need from him?
He stopped, abruptly, in his tracks. He did not turn back to see who the voice belonged to. Yet, he was interested. Only a little bit, though.
“Finally,” the voice spoke as it sighed in relief. Akaashi stood still, not making a sound, trying to find a way to escape. “You’re really hard to talk to. I’ve been trying to speak to you all week.” It laughed a tender laugh. A laugh that could get anyone’s attention.
But, why did it laugh*?*
Akaashi was mute. Talking will only lead to conversation he thought to himself. He did not care if he ignored someone but something in his mind was telling him to say something. One thing. That was all.
He swallowed as he closed his eyes. He reopened them, shifting his head up to the ceiling, and sighed. He did not know what to say exactly. “No,” was what he said in the end.
There was no response. Finally relaxed, thinking the person left, Akaashi turned around. Only to meet the possessor of the voice.
Yellow eyes was the first thing Akaashi noticed. He was a big stickler for noticing things like that.
“Why did you say ‘no’? Do you hate me? Please don’t hate me! I’m a really nice person!” Yellow-eyes said in a dramatic tone. Something about his attitude was odd. It was very childlike. Strange yet intriguing.
Akaashi held back the urge to roll his eyes. “You’re annoying,” he told him what came to his mind first. This caused Mr. Yellow-Eyes to gasp loudly. “Stop that. That sound is obnoxious.” All he got back was a laugh and a smile in response to his questions
“Do you want to hang out?” Akaashi read out loud in a whisper. There was a piece of paper that was attached to his book.
Pathetic
He crumpled the note and tossed it into the nearest trash can.
The note did not have a name so it was meaningless. Though, if it had a name, it would still be meaningless to Akaashi. People have done that to Akaashi for years. Make notes and then get him excited, thinking he had someone to hang out with. He was so used to it that he just threw away the notes.
The next day, there was another note. This time it read, “Why did you throw my note away?:((((. Please don't throw this one away. I really would like to be your friend! Love, B.K”
Akaashi let out a sigh and shoved the note into his pocket. He wondered how this B.K saw him throw the note away since he was alone.
The fact that there were initials gave Akaashi a sense of curiosity. B.K could be multiple people so how would Akaashi know who it was. He did not know anyone’s name for that matter. It was frankly impossible to figure out who the mystery person was.
Like the other note, it was typed out in overly large letters. Three pages. The note was three pages long. For no reason whatsoever.
Maybe it is that weird guy that looks like an owl. No. He’s probably too stupid to even know how to spell. Yet again, owls are deemed to be wise. Huh.
This was very complicated for Akaashi. He ended up not even caring enough to investigate and figure out who it was.
Akaashi closed his eyes as he pulled his satchel bag over his head. He was calm and quiet like usual but he did not feel like usual.
All day, he thought of that owl-looking-boy. He actually disliked him despite constantly thinking of him throughout the day.
He thought Yellow-Eyes was loud and annoying. Plus, his facial expression really bothered Akaashi. Everything was so over dramatic with him and that is the opposite for Akaashi.
Something about Yellow-Eyes made Akaashi interested. Even if Akashi did not enjoy his presence. He just seemed like a person that you think you know but he has hundreds of secrets kept from you. Which made Akaashi raise a brow because everyone he’d seen before was dull or an open book.
It was a lost cause in itself. He did not want friends or talk to anyone. The thought of even befriending that very strange guy, honestly scared Akaashi. He could barely handle “regular people”. How could Akaashi handle someone like Yellow-Eyes?
They were complete opposites. Nothing in common whatsoever.
Akaashi shut his locker and walked outside the building. It was almost late September and the autumn scent was slowly creeping up his nose.
He always cared for Autumn because it meant he could sit inside all day and watch Halloween movies. Normally, he would watch some classics then some that came out in the recent years.
Once he arrived home, he headed straight to his room like he did every day. He took off his uniform and put on a hoodie and sweatpants. He hated his school uniform. He always had to be cautious because it is expensive to replace or get cleaned.
Being a highschool student without a job, that was not something he could afford on his own.
