About 650 years ago monstrous beasts appeared throughout the land, a consecutive disasters occurred that changed the geography of the land. A group of people that called themselves “Deity” gather all humans within their reach. They created a barrier throughout a big mass of land that created their last stand. Monsters that trapped inside the barrier was cleared by the Deities. Monsters from outside cannot fly over the barrier, people cultivated lands and collected rain waters for their survival. To manage the big landmass the Deities given to them, they scatter throughout the land and created towns. Since there are 8 Deities, there are 8 towns named: Apilos, Arin, Eisodos, Ergon, Irelia, Olin, Oseras, Uteria, each of the town was govern by a single Deity.

This Deities aren’t really immortals they just age at a extremely slow rate. Since time is inevitable Deities grows old and an opening appeared from each sides of the barrier. With these monsters from outside coming inside and ferociously attack humans on sight. Since Deities are too old to fight the monsters themselves, each of them created an orb at the centre of their town that will give anyone an ability that surpasses human capabilities. The Deities are also too old to manage the town, each of them choose a trustworthy individual that will lead the town. The Deities give them power personally that exceeds those who get their power from the orb. This power can be passed down to a chosen successor. With these desperate preparation, each town somehow able to hold off monsters from outside.

Those who get their power from the orb will be called mercenaries, they will be paid to fight off monsters coming to the town. Furthermore years research from outside the barrier, they found out that monsters created nests to grow their forces. They found out that there are two kinds of monsters, first those nests monsters that work mutually with other same kinds, the other ones are wandering monsters simply called “Wanderers” they don’t usually work in group and they have no exact habitat, they just wander around mindlessly and attack everyone in sight even other monsters except for other wanderers. The nests monsters seems imitate the way of living of ants, they have queen which produces underling that will serve with it’s life for the queen. As for the mercenaries they have a classification, Damage Dealers(Some use magic), Supports, Tanks, Scouts(They are almost the same as Damage Dealers but their main purpose is to scout nests from inside and outside the barrier, they are adept in stealth and speed that makes them excellent for scouting). Each nests has a level to identify its threat: Low rank nest, Intermediate Nest, Advance Nest, and High Grade Nest. Nests from the same levels aren’t really the same difficulty, the ranking system aren’t highly accurate they are just estimation. If the scout give nests a false rank it will be punished by taking it’s power. If a mercenary's power is taken, it will be disabled( Blind, Deaf, Immobile, etc)

Eisodos is located at the southeast part of the barrier. It is also the closest town to one of each entrance which means they get attacked more frequently than other towns, that caused their few numbers of population.

Eleu Triya comes from a village near the town of Eisodos, since childhood Eleu wants to work as a mercenary. Her father works as a blacksmith, her mother is a housewife. Her mother is always against Eleu's idea to become a mercenary because of it’s high risk, but her father is supporting her.

After 11 years, Eleu have complety grown to a fine woman, she has a black hair that reaches her waist, her height reaches 162 centimeters tall, she has a pair of black eyes. And finally she has already become a mercenary.

CHAPTER 1 – The new queen

I’m Eleu Triya a support type mercenary.I live at a village near the town of Eisodos the closest town to an entrance of the barrier, it is located at the southeast part of the barrier. From the village I’m currently at the town of Eisodos. This will be my first time clearing a nest, though I still haven’t tried my skills to others, I’m perfectly prepared.

Eleu is having a talk with a guy wearing breastplate armor and 2 daggers.

“Ah, so this is your first time clearing a nest?”

“Yes, thank you for accepting me even though it’s my first time”

- Eleu

“Hah, I’m also impressed of your ability. I’ve never heard of a support that can heal itself, I’m expecting more of your ability”

“Oh before I forgot I am Graze Denzo a damage dealer, I will be the leader of this party, so don’t worry Eleu we will make sure you will learn a lot on your first time”

- Graze

Eleu is worried about the level of the nest because it is just her first time.

“But sir will it be okay?, it is a Intermediate-Level Nest. Even though this nest is the weakest in intermediate level it’s still more dangerous than Low rank Nest.”

- Eleu

“Do you know what makes it intermediate level?, it is because it’s already been 5 days since it is discovered, no mercenaries are taking it because of the low rewards and the loots from monsters are common materials. If a nest is been left within a week it will grow stronger and the probability of it attacking the town will be higher." - Graze

Eleu is a little bit disappointed because she never thought mercenaries are refusing a nest because of this kind of reason.

Graze called over the entire party to start a meeting

“Okay everyone, we will be clearing a Low rank Intermediate Nest it shouldn’t be too hard for us since everyone have a experience except this new mercenary here. She is a support type mercenary her name is Eleu Triya. A newbie support isn’t really matter but let’s take a good care for her.” - Graze

A tank class mercenary come towards Eleu.

“Hey young girl make sure you showered me with your healing buffs because I’ll be taking all the damage."

“Sure sir, count on me!”

Graze continue talking.

“So in this party we have 2 support of course for Eleu to learn more she will need a superior Mori Seftra, and we have 4 Damage Dealers 2 will be placed in front that will be me and Dresden Seil and 2 at the back to protect the rear Arvin Gilliard and Eril Hammus, and lastly we have 2 tanks one in front Heril Treinor and on the back Grazil Frill. Is everything clear?”

Everyone in the party nodded. Arvin Gilliard a damage dealer responded.

“It will be easy we may not even need a support” - Gilliard

Graze responded.

“Hah don’t say that we don’t know what could happen in a nest." - Graze

After this little meeting they headed to the nest using a caravan being pulled by 2 horses. It will took them 4 hours to get to the nest it is pretty close to the town.

On their way to the nest is a plain barrens, Eleu spotted a single monster with a black body and sharp claws that moves at a slow pace.

“Sir Denzo! that thing, is that a wanderer?" - Eleu

“Ah yes that’s a wandering monster it moves slowly and they don’t move in groups so they will not get in our way.”

- Graze

“That looks pretty cool, I’ve already saw a wanderer when I was a child though I can't remember it looks clearly, my father is strong but it took him a hard time bringing down one.” - Eleu

“Yeah it’s hard to defeat because no matter how you attack it, it will only regenerate unless you destroy it’s core. What makes it really hard to kill is it’s core is not an easy target, it is hard to spot because it’s core is the darkest spot of a wanderers body, it is also moving so you need to improve your aim but it’s actually a good thing you can’t spot it’s core easily unless you see it moves through it’s body. What makes it more dangerous is it’s hard to notice it’s footsteps, that's why most mercenaries aren’t camping too much at night when travelling.” - Graze

“Ahh so that’s why my father can’t kill it easily. How about you sir have you actually fought a wanderer before?” - Eleu

“Ahm yes one time I defended our town I fought a wanderer that time, I think it somehow followed the Nest Monsters on their way to the town. The core is moving so fast so I can’t destroy it properly, I needed a help from another damage dealer to take it down." - Graze

“Where do their cores usually located?” - Eleu

“Uhm researchers says it is somewhere in their waist and it can move throughout it’s whole body” - Graze

“Ah then what will happen if the core is in it’s hand and you somehow cut off its hand?”

- Eleu

“Ah if that’s the case the limbs will grow it’s own body and the other body will disintegrate, you are such a curious young girl, Hahaha." - Graze

“That sounds pretty cool, I wish I can become a wanderer” - Eleu

“Hahahaha, that would be great to have an immor-“ - Graze

Suddenly Eleu heard an unknown faint voice, she thought that it was Graze

“Huh? Sir Denzo what do you mean?”

- Eleu

“What did I say something wrong?”

- Graze

“Yes you did, you say something”

- Eleu

“What are you talking about? I’m only saying that it would be great to have an immortal ally.”

- Graze

'(That's strange I'm sure I heard something different, though I don't understand it clearly).' - Eleu

Eleu shift her gaze to the window and saw another Wanderer standing still and looking at them. The caravan suddenly filled with deafening silence due to the conversation of those two.

“Umm Sir Denzo aren’t that wanderer looking at us?”

- Eleu

“Hmm? I can’t even see it’s head clearly, you have some good eyes huh?”

- Graze

Graze quickly changed the topic before their conversation gets weird.

“Ah anyway, so your father is also a mercenary isn’t it?”

- Graze

“Huh, no my father isn’t a mercenary”

- Eleu

“But you said earlier he took down a wanderer on it’s own, he must be at least an Elite Damage Dealer.”

- Graze

“My father is a blacksmith.”

- Eleu

“A blacksmith defeating a wanderer on it’s own?, oh wait by any chance is your father is Hirachi?“

- Graze

“Yeah he Is Hirachi Triya”

- Eleu

“Oh when you think of it you are also Triya, that’s why your surname sounds familiar.”

- Graze

The caravaneer suddenly interrupts the conversation.

“Uhm sir we’re here.”

- Caravaneer

“Oh yeah thank you for the service.”

- Graze

Eleu is worried about the caravaneer

“Um sir what about you are you okay here by yourself?”

- Eleu

“Haha don’t worry about him Eleu, caravaneers can defend themselves from few wanderers." - Graze

“Ah, I never knew about that." - Eleu

Graze called out all of their party members.

“Okay everyone we’re here now don’t forget our formation, we will take any valuable materials from the corpse of the monsters after.”

- Graze

Chapter 2 – Vision

“Aside from the rewards, materials from monster’s body and equipment are also source of income by selling it to a merchant .” – Graze

“Hmm, Hmm” – Eleu

Eleu is listening carefully with a curious face.

“But even if this is a Intermediate-level Nest, the monsters are still from Low Rank Nest, we may not get some high quality materials.” – Graze

“(Yes, our main goal here is to clear some leftover nests that mercenaries are refusing, so attacks from nests monsters will be lessen).” – Eleu

“Damn I wished I didn’t come here, aside from getting low income I’ll tutoring a newbie, hey are you even at the right age to be a mercenary?”- Mori

“That sounds a little rude senpai, even though I’m lacking a few centimeters in height I’m already at the right age! I’m 18 years old already.” – Eleu

Eleu sounds irritated.

“Hmph, don’t expect me to believe you. If you get in my way I’ll seriously report to the management that a minor got a power illegally. “ – Mori

“Hey don’t be mean to her, you are literally like her when you first start being a mercenary.” – Graze

“Y-You don’t need to mention that!” – Mori

Mori tries to hide her embarrassment.

“Ehh? So you are also just like me senpai? How do you look like when you first become a mercenary? Do you also ask irritating things to your senpai? Or maybe you are concern about me entering an intermediate nest even though it’s my first time?” – Eleu

Eleu is mocking Mori about the reason of her rudeness.

“Shut up or I won’t heal you.” – Mori

“Fufufufu unlike other supports I can heal myself you know, basically you are the one who will need my help senpai.” – Eleu

Eleu is talking with a mocking voice.

“Tch, ignorant brat if my class isn’t support I’m gonna teach you a lesson right now.” – Mori

“Okay okay, looks like you two are getting along- “ - Graze

“We aren’t!” – Mori

Graze and others went inside the nest, the nest is inside an average size cave. Mori uses light magic to light up the darkness inside the nest.

“Wow Senpai, how are you doing that?”

Eleu is amazed.

“Heh, if you want to learn this technique kneel down in front of me.” – Mori

“But we’re walking senpai.” – Eleu

Graze hit Mori softly on the head. Mori flinched a little bit.

“Hey teach her already we will need more light as we go deeper to the nest.” – Graze

“Aak, you don’t have to do that, you’re a strength type damage dealer a normal hit from you hurts so much.” – Mori

“Well you deserve it.” – Graze

They talked while walking through the cave.

“Teach her already it’s getting darker.” – Graze

“I know I know, now listen here you spoiled brat. Open your hand and picture a light in your mind.

Eleu do exactly what Mori told her. She open her hands and suddenly strong darkness came out of her hands. It illuminate all light around even the light magic Mori creates. The surroundings turn pitch black and everyone stops walking and confused about what happened.

“Hey what are you two doing, don’t play with your magic.” – Treinor

“What, what happen?, why it didn’t turn into light?” – Eleu

Eleu is so scared and confused. Mori use sensory magic to locate Eleu

“Calm down, calm down Eleu you’re making it stronger. Calm your mind and the darkness will disappear.” – Mori

Mori comforts Eleu by holding her hands, she can feel Eleu’s hand is trembling. Eleu takes a deep breath. The surroundings turn back and Mori's light magic lightened the area. The party stop walking for a moment. Eleu's sweating so much because of fear. Eleu stumble to the ground.

“What happen?” – Graze

“It looks like she have some kind of phobia in dark places.” – Mori

“Are you okay Eleu?, you can wait outside the cave if you want.” – Graze

“N-No I don’t know why I’m so scared about darkness. It feels like I’m remembering some kind of feelings.” – Eleu

“Hmm, it must be an event from your childhood that cause your trauma.” – Graze

“No that’s not it, I don’t remember any traumatic events from my childhood.” – Eleu

“But the more we get into the cave it’ll be darker and darker, without your assistance in light magic it’ll be dark. Are you sure you can manage?” – Graze

Eleu pause for a bit.

“Let's try it again senpai, I’ll try it again.” – Eleu

“But, if you failed” – Mori

“It’s okay I don’t know why I’m so scared but I need to overcome it to become a true mercenary.” – Eleu

“That's the spirit.” – Graze

Eleu open her hands, Mori put her hands below Eleu's. She tried doing it again but darkness comes pouring out of her hands again. It’s stronger than before. The caravaneer outside notice a faint darkness coming out of the entrance.Eleu take a few deep breath and the darkness fades away. She tries to do it again and the same thing happens.

Its already five minutes and Eleu is still doing the same. Tears are already pouring out of her eyes, and her hands are trembling even more.

“That’s enough Eleu, any more of these is dangerous. Your whole body is shaking.” – Mori

“Not yet, I need to learn it.” – Eleu

Eleu replies in a trembling voice. Mori uses a healing buff, this buff improves the vitality of a person. Eleu feels her body is so light, her breathes turns back to normal, Eleu calms down a little bit.

Eleu tried it again, she close her eyes and imagine a light coming out of her hand but suddenly a strange events flashes through her mind. This is not her memories, she is in a perspective of someone, a grown female that looks like a mercenary. Fires spreades around her, she is curling up in fear and trembling.

“(Wh-What is this)” – Eleu

Suddenly a faint shadow of someone comes toward her. She extends her arm to Eleu. She hear a faint voice of a female.

“It’s okay everything is alright, you do everything you could.”

Eleu suddenly stop trembling, she feels so calm and tears starts pouring out of her eyes.

“(What, who is this person, why I suddenly feel so comforting.)”

Eleu hears more faint voices but it’s not coming from the woman in front of her. Someone is calling her.

The sounds are becoming clearer.

“Eleu wake up!”

“Eleu!”

It is coming from her party members.

Eleu slowly opens her eyes, she is resting on a bed. Mori is resting beside her (Mori isn’t on bed). She pat Mori's head softly. Mori wakes up, she is blushing in embarrassment the moment she see’s Eleu.

“Wha- don’t get the wrong idea you little kid! It’s not what you’re thinking, I just don’t want to be blame when you won’t wake up!” – Mori

“How long did I slept?” – Eleu

“3 days” – Mori

“Looks like I overslept, hahaha my body feels a little bit numb.” – Eleu

“What about the nest? What happen?” – Eleu

“The moment you lose consciousness we retreat to the caravan they think that it’s an enemy attack, but Graze and I think it’s not. Some members claim that there are some strong magician monsters inside the nest but there isn’t they are just being cowards and decided not to continue the raid.” – Mori

“But what happen to you back there?” – Mori

“I saw a memory, no maybe a vision of someone” – Eleu

“Hmm is this someone you know?” – Mori

“No I’ve never her face I’m on her perspective so naturally I can’t look at my face.” – Eleu

“Hmm, just rest until you get better.” – Mori

“Yeah thank you for visiting me senpai.” – Eleu

Mori blushes again in embarrassment.

“Wha- I’m telling you it’s responsibility!” – Mori

“Haha you sure aren’t honest to yourself.” – Eleu
