The dare
Crestwood High School had one rule that everyone knew: never open the basement door after dark.
Most students laughed it off,but deep down,they all avoided it. Stories of strange noises,flickering lights,and even disappearances had been whispered for years.
One Friday evening,four friends-Mark,Olivia,Jason and Emily were finishing a group project in the library. The school was nearly empty,the halls eerily quiet.
Jason leaned back in his chair.
Jason
you know what we should do?
Mark
let me guess something dumb
Jason
We should check out the basement.
Emily
No way. That place gives me the creeps.
Olivia
it's just an old storage room. The hole 'ghost in the basement' thing is ridiculous.
Jason
Then prove it. let's go see for ourselves.
Mark
Fine. But if we get caught, I'm blaming you.
Reluctantly, Emily sighed.
Emily
If we do this ,we're in and out. No messing around.
Jason stood up already heading for the door.
