Moonlit Serenade
Dream come true
Sophia stood on the moonlit stage, her fingers poised over the piano keys. She took a deep breath letting the night magic wash over her as She begun to play, the music flowed from her like a river, Filing the empty spaces with melody
The notes seemed to dance in the air mingling with the scent of blooming flowers and the soft breeze. Sophia felt alive, her music a part of the night itself
As she played on lost in the rhythm, she wondered if anyone would ever hear her music again
sophia
(to herself) I've always loved playing at night. It's so peaceful. Her fingers danced across the piano keys filling the air with beautiful music
sophia
(sigh) this is my happy place
As she finished her piece,she noticed a figure standing in the shadows
Derrick
(softly, emerging from the shadows) you have a gift... Your music is beautiful
sophia
(startled) ohhh i..... I didn't notice you there
Derrick
(smiling) I apologize... Didn't mean to intrude your music was just to captivating to absurdly ignore
sophia
(curios) Thank you..... I've just always loved playing... It's my way of expressing myself
Derrick
(intrigued) Expression is powerful. Power your music says a lot about you
sophia
(smiling) what do you think it says
Derrick
(pausing) that you're passionate, creative... And perhaps hiding more than you're revealing
sophia
(laughs nervously) maybe
Derrick
(leaning forward) I'm Kael, by the way. And you are....
sophia
(smiling) Sophia.... Nice to meet you kael
Derrick
(smiling back) Nice to meet you too, Sophia Your music has a way of touching the soul
sophia
(curios) what do you mean by touching the soul
Derrick
(thoughtfully) music has a way of evoking emotions don't think? It's like your melody spoke directly to mine
sophia
(smiling) I never thought of it that way but yes, music is a powerful medium
Derrick
(nodding) indeed it is may last what's your inspiration behind this place
sophia
(hesitates) it's just something I've been working on life experiences, I suppose
Derrick
(intrigued) life experiences can be a great catalyst for creativity. Would you mind sharing more about it
sophia
(pauses, unsure how much to reveal) maybe another time, it's nice to have someone to talk about music
Derrick
(☺ ) I'd like that. Maybe we can discuss it further sometimes
Derrick
(smiling) I'd love to hear more of your music... Sophia would you be willing to play something else for me?
sophia
(blushing) oh, I don't know.... I'm not sure I'm ready for an audience
Derrick
(encouragingly) you're not playing for an audience, you're playing for someone who appreciates music. Please
Derrick
(smiling) OK, fine but just one more piece.
(Sophia begins to play another beautiful melody, her fingers dancing across the keys. Derrick listen intently, his eyes closed, letting the music wash over him
As Sophia finished the piece, Derrick opened his eyes, a look of genuine admiration on his face
"beautiful" he says, his voice filled with sincerity "you have a true talent, Sophia"
sophia
(smiling) Thank you, Derrick that means a lot coming from you
Derrick
(curios) so what do you do besides music?
sophia
(thoughtfully) I'm a student studying literature. I love getting lost in books
Derrick
(impressed) literature, huh? I'm more of a science person myself
sophia
(laughs) opposite attract, right
Derrick
(smiling) indeed they do. Maybe we can discuss books sometimes
sophia
(exited) I'd love that!
As they continue talking, Sophia felt a connection forming with Derrick. There was something about him that drew her in
