Shinrai No Hikari” (The Light of Trust)

episode 1

Shinrai no Hikari

Chapter 1: The Seal of Empathy

Panel 1:

Aethra — a city suspended in the sky, shining with floating crystals and glowing rivers of magic. But in the lower tiers, where the light doesn’t reach, children huddle in broken houses, and the poor trade scraps for bread.

Narration:

“In a world where magic is sold to the highest bidder, kindness has become a forgotten spell.”

Panel 2:

Tannie walks through the crowded streets in a simple cloak. Her eyes are bright, but her expression is quiet. She pauses to give her bread to a child with torn clothes.

Child (softly):

“T-thank you...”

Narration:

“She was not born with strength or money. But she carried a heart powerful enough to shake the world.”

Panel 3:

That night, Tannie wakes up with a burning sensation on her palm. A glowing sigil appears — ancient runes forming a spiral.

Tannie (confused):

“What is this...?”

Panel 4:

Flash of vision — she sees memories not her own: a crying woman, a boy stealing food out of desperation, an old man shivering alone. She clutches her chest in pain.

Narration:

“She had awakened the Seal of Empathy — a legendary gift that lets its bearer feel the soul of others.”

Panel 5:

A black crow lands on her window. It speaks.

Crow:

“You are the chosen one. My name is Alex. The world needs you.”

Panel 6:

Alex explains the corruption of Aethra: The elite “Kuro Kane” exploit magic for power, while the poor suffer. He tells her that her empathy can change hearts — but every time she uses it, it drains her life force.

Tannie (firmly):

“Even if it hurts... if I can help even one person, I’ll do it.”

Final Panel of Chapter:

Tannie sets off toward the royal city, cloak blowing in the wind, the glowing mark on her palm shining like a tiny sun.

Narration:

“She does not carry a sword. She carries hope.”

Chapter 2: Frozen Flame

Panel 1:

Tannie walks through the snow-covered village of Ruketsu, a once-beautiful place now cursed with eternal winter. Children huddle in silence, the air filled with hopelessness.

Alex,(the crow):

“This village wasn't always like this. It was frozen... by him.”

Panel 2:

A tall figure appears on a cliff — Kaien, the Ice Mage of the North. His eyes are like glass — cold, distant, yet hiding deep sorrow. Ice flowers bloom where he walks.

Villager (whispers):

“Stay away... he doesn’t feel. He destroyed everything.”

Panel 3:

Tannie approaches Kaien calmly. He warns her to leave.

Kaien:

“I have no warmth left to give. Only frost. Turn back.”

Tannie:

“Then I’ll bring the warmth.”

Panel 4:

Kaien attacks. Ice shards fly, but Tannie doesn't run — she touches the ground, feeling a pulse of his pain through her seal.

Vision sequence:

Kaien as a child, watching his parents die in a fire caused by magic gone wrong. He froze the village accidentally trying to stop it.

Panel 5:

Tannie collapses from the pain she absorbs. Kaien hesitates.

Kaien (shaken):

“You... saw it? Why do you suffer for me?”

Tannie (weakly smiling):

“Because you couldn’t cry. So I cried for you.”

Panel 6:

The frost begins to melt. A single tear rolls down Kaien’s cheek — the first in years. His magic calms. The sun peeks through the clouds over Ruketsu.

Final Panel of Chapter:

Kaien kneels beside Tannie.

Kaien:

“I couldn’t be saved. But maybe... I can help save others with you.”

Narration:

“One heart at a time, her light spreads.”

episode 2

Chapter 3: The Whispering Forest

Tannie walked into the heart of the forest, the towering trees casting long shadows on the ground. The air was thick with an ethereal mist, a gentle glow emanating from the flora that surrounded her. The whispers had been with her ever since she arrived—soft, elusive voices calling her name, urging her deeper into the unknown. They were both distant and yet so close, as if they were coming from within the very trees themselves.

Tannie’s heart raced as she stepped forward, her powers of empathy pulsating within her. With each step, she felt an overwhelming sense of something pulling at her—something both ancient and powerful. She had to discover the source of the whispers, the reason behind her strange connection to this place.

"Shinrai..." The voice was clearer now, and Tannie instinctively looked up, though she couldn’t see anyone. It was Seira, the spirit who had been guiding her since she first awakened her powers. Her presence felt like a warm breeze, soothing but distant.

“You are close now, Tannie. Trust in your gift. Let it guide you,” Seira’s voice echoed in her mind, a gentle reminder of the power within her. “But be careful. The forest is full of spirits, both kind and cruel. It will test you.”

Tannie nodded, though the unease in her chest grew stronger. She could feel the weight of what she had to do. Every instinct told her this journey was more than just a test of power—it was a test of her very heart.

Suddenly, a rustling noise broke the silence, and Tannie stopped, her senses on high alert. From behind a thick cluster of trees emerged a figure—a creature with spindly limbs and glowing yellow eyes. It looked strange, almost distorted, as if it was made of shadows and mist. Its presence sent a chill down her spine, but as Tannie reached out with her empathy, she felt no malice. Instead, a deep sadness radiated from it, a loneliness that seemed to consume the very essence of the creature.

The creature did not speak at first, only staring at her with those glowing eyes, its form flickering like a fading flame. Tannie’s heart went out to it as she sensed its deep sorrow.

She slowly stepped forward, her hand reaching out in a gesture of comfort. “What’s wrong?” she asked, her voice soft and filled with empathy.

The creature blinked, its eyes shimmering with desperation. “I… I’ve lost something,” it croaked, its voice trembling. “I can’t remember… I can’t find my way back…”

Tannie felt a surge of compassion, her empathy instinctively reaching out to the creature. She could feel the pain it carried, the loss, the void that consumed it. “Where did you come from?” she asked gently.

“The Lightspire,” the creature whispered, its form flickering again. “The gatekeeper… they… they took my essence. Now… I am nothing…”

Tannie’s thoughts raced. The Lightspire. She had heard of it—a tower of immense power, a place that stood at the edge of the world. But the gatekeeper taking its essence? That didn’t make sense. She needed answers. “I’ll help you,” Tannie said, determination in her voice.

The creature’s eyes glowed faintly, as if filled with a fleeting hope. “Find the gatekeeper… They are the key…”

Before Tannie could respond, the creature began to dissipate, its form breaking apart like smoke in the wind. Its final words echoed in her mind, “Only the gatekeeper can restore me…”

Tannie stood in stunned silence as the creature vanished completely, leaving only the faintest shimmer in the air. She could feel its anguish lingering in the atmosphere. The Lightspire, the gatekeeper… There were so many questions left unanswered. But Tannie now had a purpose. She had to find the Lightspire and discover the truth.

She turned in the direction the creature had pointed, knowing that her journey was far from over. Her powers, and perhaps her very destiny, were tied to whatever secrets the Lightspire held.

Chapter 4: The Lightspire's Secrets

After days of traversing dense forests and climbing rugged cliffs, Tannie finally reached her destination—the Lightspire. It towered above the land, its crystalline surface shimmering like a beacon in the distance. The spire seemed to pulse with energy, the light reflecting off its smooth surface in a way that made it look almost alive. The air around it crackled with an ancient power, and Tannie could feel it even from where she stood.

At the base of the Lightspire stood a large, ornately carved door. Symbols she could not understand glowed faintly on its surface, casting an eerie golden light around the entrance. Tannie’s heart pounded in her chest, her nerves tingling with the weight of the moment. She had been guided here for a reason. The creature’s final words echoed in her mind—“Find the gatekeeper…”

Suddenly, a figure emerged from the shadows near the door. Dressed in robes of white and gold, their face obscured by a hood, the figure exuded an aura of power and authority. Tannie instinctively knew that this was the gatekeeper.

“You have come, Shinrai,” the gatekeeper said, their voice smooth and calm, yet filled with an undeniable power. “But the Lightspire is not a place for the faint-hearted. If you seek answers, you must first prove your strength.”

Tannie’s heart skipped a beat. “I need to help the creatures in the forest,” she said, her voice filled with determination. “They are suffering. I must understand what’s happening.”

The gatekeeper’s hooded gaze fixed on her. “The suffering you feel is not just from the creatures of the forest. It is a consequence of an ancient imbalance. To heal this world, you must first understand the source of this pain.”

With a slow, deliberate motion, the gatekeeper raised their hand, and the symbols on the door began to glow brighter. The door creaked open, revealing a vast chamber within the spire. The walls shimmered with light, and the air felt thick with energy.

“The trials of the Lightspire will test your heart, your spirit, and your power,” the gatekeeper warned. “Only those who are worthy can walk this path. Will you proceed?”

Tannie took a deep breath, her resolve strengthening. She had come this far, and there was no turning back now. “I’m ready,” she said, her voice steady.

As she stepped through the door, the world around her seemed to shift, and she knew that the trials of the Lightspire were about to begin.

episode 3

Chapter 3: Flicker of the Forgotten

The moment Tannie released her power to protect the village, a gentle but brilliant light exploded from her palms, forming a shimmering barrier around everyone. The villagers gasped in awe, but the effort drained her completely.

Her knees buckled.

“Tannie!” Kane rushed forward, catching her just before she hit the ground. Her breathing was shallow, her skin cold. Kane held her close, worry etched into his face.

The Protector—tall, mysterious, always watching—stepped forward. “You shouldn’t carry her,” he said sharply, his voice tight. “She needs rest, not coddling.”

Kane glared at him. “And you think letting her fall alone is better?”

Tannie’s head rested against Kane’s chest, her lips moving faintly. “Stop… fighting…”

As Kane carried her into the forest where it was safer, Tannie slipped in and out of consciousness. Memories surged—harsh voices, a dark room, tears… abandonment. She whimpered.

“No… don’t leave me…”

A tear rolled down her cheek.

Kane paused, stunned. He gently brushed the tear away, whispering, “You’re safe now, Tannie. I’m here…”

But behind them, the Protector’s fists clenched. His eyes were full of something Kane had never seen in him before—jealousy.

As Kane settled her near the riverbank, he sat beside her, his hand resting gently on hers. “Why do I care this much?” he murmured.

Suddenly, Tannie stirred. Her eyes fluttered open—and met Kane’s. For a moment, neither spoke. The tension between them was thick, almost electric.

But before either could speak, she remembered the past again. Her eyes filled with tears, and she whispered, “I’m… broken…”

Then everything went black again—she had fainted once more.

And from the shadows, the Protector watched with a storm in his gaze.

Shinrai no Hikari – Chapter 4: “The Protector’s Mask”

The soft glow of morning light slipped through the trees, casting dancing patterns on the ground. Tannie lay still, her chest rising and falling steadily as the warmth of the sun kissed her pale skin.

Kane sat beside her, eyes heavy from staying awake all night. He hadn’t moved—his fingers still loosely held hers.

“She hasn’t woken up,” he muttered.

A rustle in the leaves.

“You care too much,” the Protector said, stepping into view. His tone was even, but there was an edge to it. “She’s not yours to protect.”

Kane stood. “And she’s not yours to command. What is your problem with me?”

The Protector didn’t answer. Instead, he walked to Tannie’s side and knelt, gently placing a hand on her forehead. His touch was careful, almost reverent.

“She’s carrying a weight she doesn’t understand,” he whispered. “And she’s unlocking powers too fast. If she keeps going like this... she might shatter.”

Kane frowned. “Then tell her the truth. About the powers. About her past.”

The Protector’s jaw clenched. “It’s not time.”

Suddenly, Tannie stirred. A low sound escaped her lips—like a whimper. She was dreaming again.

---

In her mind...

She stood alone in a long hallway. Shadows whispered around her. The same cold voice echoed:

"You are not enough."

A door opened. Inside, a small girl curled up in the corner of a dark room—her younger self.

Tannie stepped forward. “You don’t have to be afraid anymore.”

The younger girl looked up with wide eyes. “But they left me… they all left…”

Tannie knelt and held her. “I won’t leave you.”

And for the first time, the hallway began to glow.

---

Back in the real world...

Her eyes snapped open, glowing faintly with light. Kane and the Protector froze.

Tannie sat up slowly, confused. “Where…?”

“You’re safe,” Kane said softly.

But she didn’t look at him. Her eyes locked with the Protector’s.

“I saw something. A memory. Of someone... leaving me.”

The Protector’s face changed. For a second, his cold mask cracked. “You remembered...?”

Tannie stood, shakily. “You knew, didn’t you? About what happened to me.”

He said nothing.

Kane stepped in, protective. “Say something!”

The Protector turned away. “It’s time to go. There are places that may have the answers.”

As he walked off, Tannie looked between the two boys—her heart pulling in two directions.

And so, the journey truly began.

Chapter 5: Echoes in the Wind

The trio walked in silence.

The woods thinned as they approached the edge of a valley. A cold wind danced through the trees, carrying with it the scent of rain and something else—nostalgia.

Tannie tightened her cloak around her. The Protector walked ahead, silent as ever, his posture tense. Kane stayed close to her, eyes scanning the path.

After what felt like hours, they reached a cliffside temple, half-ruined and covered in ivy. It pulsed faintly with magic.

“This is where it began,” the Protector said. “Where your power was first sealed.”

Tannie blinked. “I’ve… been here before.”

Her legs moved on their own, memories rising—laughter, and then screaming. A woman’s voice calling her name.

She stepped inside.

---

Inside the Temple

Ancient murals lined the walls. One showed a girl with glowing hands. Another—dark figures surrounding her, reaching.

Suddenly, a whisper filled the air. “Shinrai…”

Tannie turned. A ghostly figure emerged from the wall—a woman in flowing robes, her eyes full of sorrow.

“You’ve returned… Tannie.”

Kane stepped in front of her, protective. “Who are you?”

“I am Ayame… her guardian once. The one who sealed the darkness away.”

Tannie stepped forward, trembling. “You knew me?”

Ayame nodded. “You were just a child when the power awakened. Too strong. Too kind. Too dangerous. So, we sealed part of your soul… and wiped the pain.”

Tannie’s voice broke. “Why?”

“Because the ones you trusted most… betrayed you.”

The temple shuddered.

Kane grabbed her hand. “Let’s get out of here!”

But the Protector stepped between them. “No. She needs to remember. Only then will she control the Light.”

Ayame raised a hand. “Then let me show her.”

---

Vision Flash

Tannie saw herself as a small child—laughing in the garden of a noble house. A boy with black hair gave her a flower. But later… that same boy stood beside cloaked figures. Her screams echoed as they took her away.

When the vision ended, Tannie collapsed to her knees.

“That boy…” she whispered. “He betrayed me…”

Kane knelt beside her. “Tannie… who was he?”

She looked up, tears falling.

Her eyes met the Protector’s.

And in that moment—she knew.

“It was you.”
