‘’Evan, have you ever wondered why life is harder for people like us?’’ Toka says as he throws the rock in the lake.

‘’No. Maybe it was fate that brought us to such a miserable state.’’

Toka says ‘’One if we could change the way we are. I don't believe we were put on this earth to be bullied  for the rest of our lives. Me and you together could be conquerors.’’ as he held  Evan’s hand in the air. 

‘’Stop kidding around. I don't want anything from the world or from the people I've always been happy with the life I have chosen to live, especially since I get to spend it with you. All i want is for you to stay by my side.’’ Evan grabs Toka's hand. “Please don't betray me. I don't want fame or fortune. I just want you by my side.”

Toka blushes ‘’I- I- promise that i will stay by your side Evan. Now would you please just tell me why we are here? We could have went to an arcade or something.”

‘’I just thought that we could spend some time with each other where we can be alone. I barely get to see you anymore. Come sit next to me we can watch the sunset together.’’ Evan reaches for Toka’s hand, Toka grabs his hand and sits next to him. Even lays his head on Toka’s shoulder.

‘’I never told Evan, but that was the best day in my life. It was also my last. He died in a car accident. I had so much to tell him, but i never got to.’’ Toka begins to cry. It feels like boiling water is pouring out my eyes.

‘’I never got to tell you I love you. WHY? Why did you leave me? We made a promise remember? I was going to stay by your side, how can i do that when you're no longer around. Do you know that when you died you took my heart along with you. Without you I have no one else in this world. Its as if the world i once knew, full of color has now lost its color.’’ Toka sets a bouquet of flowers next to Evan’s tombstone.

‘’I came to tell you that I no longer have to live with my dad. Are you happy? I no longer have to live in that hell hole. I don't have to worry about what to eat or where I should stay for the night. I'm moving with my grandma so i wont be able to visit anymore. This is my last goodbye. I'm sorry i couldn't stay by your side anymore.’’ Toka walks to his grandma's car and gets in.

Toka’s grandma drives off. Toka stares at Evan tombstone until he can no longer see it. Toka's grandma grabs his hand. ‘’Everythings gonna be alright. It's time for you to move on. Not everything lasts forever.”

Toka looks at his grandma and says “we may not live forever but the love and affection he gave me will.” 

“It's been two years, Evan. I hope you miss me as much as i miss you.”

“After I moved in with my grandma I started unpacking. I had left a lot of the things that reminded me of Evan at home. I wasn't trying to forget him, I was just trying to be relieved of the pain and guilt of Evan’s death. 

“Toka? You start school tomorrow. You should get some rest. I'll take you tomorrow.”

“It's fine grandma, I was planning on taking the bus anyways” Toka lays in bed and clothes his eyes.

“Thank you for walking me home Toka. You know you didn't have to. I can get home on my own.”

Toka looks at Evan “maybe this was an excuse for me to spend more time with you.”

Evan blushes. They stop in front of Evans house.

Toka grabs onto Evans face “Are you ok? Your burning hot”

“Ye- yes im ok im just feeling a little hot. Uh d do you want to come in. my mom isn't home? We could hangout...”

Toka smiles and pats Evan on the head. “Yea i guess i got an hour or two before i have to be home. 

Evan opens the door and allows Toka inside. Toka walks in and shuts the door. Evan points to the couch. “You could sit here if you like.i go get us something to drink.” shortly after he comes back with two sodas. “Um, would you like something to eat?”

Toka grabs the drink and looks at Evan, he smiles. Evan flinches.

“yea …”

“Oh well what would you like to eat, i'll get it for you.”

“I want to eat you.” Evan accidentally drops his soda. Evan goes to get napkins to clean up his mess. Toka follows Evan, Evan turns to see Toka behind him. “You could have stayed seated while I cleaned up my mess.” Toka slowly walks closer to evan. He grabs Evan by the waist and pulls him in closer. “I said I want to eat you.” Toka leans in closer, Evan can now feel Toka’s bare skin. Toka kisses Evan.

The front door opens and closes. “Evan? Im home! Are you here? Hmm he must still be at the arcades.” Evan pushes Toka aside. “She must have got off work early.”

Evan walked into the living room with the napkins. “Hey mom! How come you didn't call me and let me know that you were coming home early.” Evan hurries and goes to wipe up the soda on the floor. “Sorry about the mess I was going to clean it up, I had gone into the kitchen to get the napkins to clean up the mess.”

Toka Comes out of the kitchen and goes into the living room with Evan and his mother. Evans mother looks at Toka then looks at Evan for an explanation. “ And who might this be?”  Evan looks at Toka then looks at his mom. He walks towards Toka and grabs his hand. “ Mom this is Toka. He is a very important person to me. Toka this is my mother.”

Toka walked up to Evan's mom to greet her with a handshake. “ it's nice to meet you Ma'am.” Evans' mom smiles and goes for a hug instead of the handshake.  “Evan has told me so much about you I'm so happy to have finally met you. If Evan would have asked I would have just went to hang out with the friends while you guys enjoyed your night...`` Evan's mom gives him a sly look. Evan turned his head the other way in order to avoid His  mother's creepy stare. “So is he sleeping over it's pretty late we have an extra guest bedroom, or you could sleep in Evans room With him I'm sure he wouldn't mind.”

Evans' face immediately turns red. He looks at his mother and starts to pout. “Mom can you please stop!”  Toka laughs . “Thanks for the offer but I'm going to have to respectfully decline.”  I haven't texted my dad in a couple of hours. He's probably worried sick. My phone is dead so I have been unable to contact my dad. I need to hurry home so that he knows I'm okay.“Toka looks toward Evan i'll text you when i get home” Evan grabs tokas arm. “I'll walk you out.”

Evan, still holding onto Toka's arm, walks him to the door. “ Toka are you really leaving. If that's what you want to do it's fine, but promise me that you'll get home safely”

 Toka smiles. It felt good to be cared for every once in a while. The truth is Toka wasn't going home, he didn't want to be a burden to Evan and his mother so he told them he was going home. Toka Without notice gives Evan a hug. I promise I'll text you when I get home safely. okay?” 

Toka’s alarm goes off.  He hits the buzzer for the alarm. He gets up and gets ready for school. “Hopefully this  school won't make me as miserable as my last school did.”

Toka grabs a piece of bread and walks out the door. He starts walking to the bus stop. He  turns a corner and here's some people talking, when he passes by he sees a boy on the floor being bullied by two boys who appear to be older than the kid on the ground. He usually never gets involved in school fights or any fights at all, nut that hid reminded him of Evan. he felt like he had no choice.

 “Hey! Leave him alone, he's with me. I really don't want to cause any problems, but if I have toi won't hesitate. I don't mind beating the crap out of you too.

 The two bullies laugh. “Trying to be a superhero? why don't we show you where that gets you. Both the guys come at Toka at the same time. “Where i'm from we don't play fair.” the bully said. Toka laughs. “Well what a surprise neither do i. Toka used the rings on his finders to cause more pain to the bullies.

 After he's done beating the guys up he looks at the kid. “Hey stay away from these guys. there won't always be someone to help you next time.” Toca grabs his bag and continues walking to the bus stop. The boy follows him, or so he thought.

 “Hey kid? Why are you following me?” well you see my school is that way I ride the bus Toca rubs his head do you by any chance to go to North Hills High School

 The boy gets excited. “Yes I do. I'm a sophomore here I mean I'm a junior. My name isn't kid either,  it's Sunbai.”

Man you're already a pain in the neck. I gotta go, your on your own. Toka turns around and continues walking. “Wait sir please let me stay by your side. Without your help they would have beat me up, taken all I have and left me there. They do it all the time. I'll pay you if i have to just please don't leave me alone.”

“Look I'm going to be honest with you. I only helped you because you remind me of someone I used to know. He was a lot like you. I'm not going to pretend I'm a nice person because i aint. 

He wanted to stay away from Sunbai but something kept telling him to protect him.

“Alright I'll help you out just this once. Lets go”

Toka starts walking. Sunbai follows behind Toka like a baby chick following his mother. “ Since I'm protecting you ima need you to help me find my classes.” Toka hands him his schedule. “Oh you have first period with me. I can just take you straight there.” Toka leans in closer to Sunbai to see the first period. Sunbai’s heart skipped a beat. “English huh? It shouldn't be so hard right? Hey kid are you alright?”

“Huh oh um yea, but can you skoot back right now i'm lacking a bit of personal space…”

"I feel guilty. I didn't save Sunbai because of the kindness in my heart. I saved him because it reminds me of when I first met Evan. everything about Sunbai reminds me of Evan.”

*flash back*

Two years ago…  

“I'm sorry but I don't feel the same way. i'm already with Sammy.”

Evan gives him a bitter smile.

“But do you love her? I know that you felt what I felt, why else would you have kissed me. If you tell me you love her, and you really don't want to be with me I'll walk away, but I want you to know that I really do like you .

“You know why I can't be with you Evan. I- I can't take the pressure you or anybody else puts on me. I'm sorry but I have to go. I hope we don't meet again.” he walks inside the school he never turned back to, not even to take a second look at what he's lost. Evan went to a party with his friend Hugo. he went to distract himself from his unrequited love. “Stop thinking about him. Even if he had agreed to stay with you he would have kept you a secret it's better to end it now then later it would have hurt more.” Evan nods, “Your right. But it still hurts.

Toka was also attending the party. He attended every party not because he wanted to but because that was the only place he could go when his dad was home. Evan had got really drunk. He had one after another. 

“Hey Evan you see that guy over there?” Hugo points at Toka. “he's been checking you out this whole time, you should go talk to him.”

“I don't know Hugo, he looks light, he's glaring at me.” Hugo laughs “he's not glaring at you, it just looks that way because you don't have your glasses on.” Hugo pushes Evan towards Toka, “Don't come back over here until you get his number.”

Evan walks toward Toka. “I shouldn't be so hard he's by himself so he looks a bit easier to approach. Evan walks up to Toka. “excuse me but can i have your number?”
