Vengeance Of The Fallen Hero

Chapter 1: The Day the Sky Forgot His Name

Wind scraped across the obsidian towers of Aegis Academy, howling through stone corridors like a forgotten scream. The banners fluttered, untouched by time. Beneath them, the world moved on.

But Kael Ardent awoke in silence.

His eyes opened to a ceiling he hadn’t seen in years—a dormitory ceiling. His dormitory. The stone was cold, the air sharp with the scent of dust, steel, and chalk. The creak of a wooden bed frame. A pillow too thin. Everything was wrong.

And yet, familiar.

He sat up, breath ragged, eyes scanning the room. His body felt leaner, lighter, younger.

No.

He stumbled to the mirror hanging beside the door.

The face that met him wasn’t the battle-hardened commander who’d led armies against gods. It was the boy he used to be—seventeen, unscarred, eyes too wide. The brand on his hand, the Mark of the Chained Sun, was faint. Not yet burned into full bloom.

Time hadn’t caught up yet.

Kael swallowed hard, heart hammering in his chest.

He’d been sent back.

Back to the beginning.

Back to Aegis Academy.

And this time, he remembered everything.

---

A Familiar Cage

Classes passed in a blur—runework, elemental alignment, sword drills, lectures on sacrifice disguised as duty. Kael moved among them like a ghost.

He wasn’t a student. Not anymore.

He was a soldier returned to enemy lines.

From the outer courtyard to the sacred lecture hall, he watched—every face, every ritual, every oath they swore with smiles and hidden shackles.

Then came the Grandmaster.

Veyliss.

Clad in ceremonial white, his silver hair gleamed in the morning sun as he spoke of destiny and discipline. He looked every bit the savior.

But Kael knew the truth.

This man would one day use Kael’s own body to open a gate between realms. He would awaken a god that fed on devotion, draining chosen students until nothing remained but husks and praise.

Kael’s fists clenched behind his back.

Not again.

---

The Spark Rekindled

That night, beneath the blood-orange moon, Kael trained alone in the old courtyard. The echo of blade against stone. Sparks of unstable power flickering in his palm—his aura still raw in this version of himself.

He closed his eyes and remembered the end. The voice of the Devourer whispering through his veins.

He remembered screaming.

And then—

Footsteps.

“You always train this late?” came a voice.

Kael turned. Lira.

Younger. Still unburned by betrayal. Her stance was cautious, but there was curiosity there—potential.

“Just thinking,” he said.

“Thinking can be dangerous around here.”

He offered a tight smile.

“If I’m lucky.”

---

A Map of Ashes

Later, by candlelight, Kael scribbled everything he remembered—names, locations, secrets buried beneath the school. The forbidden Rite. The Vessel. The throne hidden in the bones of the Academy.

He hadn’t come back to learn.

He’d come back to burn it all down.

This time, when they turned on him—

He’d be ready.
