Rhea and Ivy had been best friends since ninth grade—Rhea with her loose shirts and easy swagger, Ivy with her pastel notebooks and soft smiles. They balanced each other without even trying.
Ivy had liked Rhea for years, quietly, carefully, hoping her heart wouldn’t show every time Asha slung an arm around her or leaned in to whisper a joke.
Rhea never noticed. To her, Ivy was simply her favorite person, the one she trusted without thinking. Whatever was shifting between them… she hadn’t caught on yet.
But everyone else could see the way their story was slowly, inevitably changing.
