Prologue
“What a Joke” Alpha Kyle said with his face twisted in disgust.
“P-please” Olive begged
“I, Alpha Kyle of dark shadow, reject you as my mate and future Luna of this pack” Alpha Kyle said.
“You are hereby banished from Dark shadow pack and if found near packlands, either you or your twin, you will be killed” The Alpha added making olive cry out in pain and agony
“I-I a-accept your r-rejection” Olive replied stuttering with tears as she felt her heart physically contract and the pack bond break.
She could hear her brother’s distant howl of pain. He felt it too.
“Throw her out of packlands” The Alpha said coldly.
“And her twin too”
How could he? How could they? Just because she was a weakly omega, they did this.
That was when she swore, she would make each and everyone pay.
Chapter one
Finally, Olive’s eighteenth birthday had arrived and all she could think of was finding her mate. There was no one that cared for her or her twin. She didn’t care who he was or where he was from, as long as she and her twin could escape their hell filled life as lowly omegas, she didn’t mind.
She came back from school all bubbly to go proceed with her duties at the pack house. Little did she know, that would change her life.
“Omega! Come clean this up!” A pack member ordered causing her to immediately bend to clean the stain off his shoe.
As she proceeded to clean the mess, the most beautiful scent wafted through her nostrils. Pine and peppermint. She looked up in excitement only to be met with the cold and indifferent eyes of her alpha. Their very ruthless alpha who had abused her physically countless times. Olive’s face fell immediately.
“A-alpha?” She stuttered in fear looking into his eyes.
“What a joke”
“P-please”
“I, Alpha Kyle of Dark Shadow reject you as my mate and future Luna of this pack.” The Alpha said
“You are hereby banished from dark shadow pack and if found near pack lands, either you or your twin, You will be killed.”
“I-I a-accept your r-rejection.”
“Throw her out of pack lands”
“And her twin too”
Before she had realised, guards had already taken her by her hands.
“I just want to get my things.” Olive cried, she sighted the guards bringing in a hurt Oliver. Her heart broke on sight.
“We can’t let you do that.” One of the guards replied as they dragged her to pack borders.
“Please let us go. I beg of you.” She pleaded
“Pathetic.” The other guard said as they threw her and her twin into the dark open forest.
How fast time flies when your life gets ruined. Olive had collapsed to the floor, crying profusely in her brother’s arms. She honestly didn’t want to live anymore. Maybe if her twin wasn’t here, she would have taken her life.
The twins had walked aimlessly for hours before finally stopping out of fatigue. She laid down on the cold forest floor with the only source of heat being each other keeping them from freezing. Under the full moonlight with no food, no shelter, no clothes and not a single dime to their name, she prayed that by morning she’d be in the afterlife.
Olive had opened her eyes to be met with a very beautiful woman with long ever flowing silver hair and crystal blue eyes adorned in a silk gown flowing down like a river covering her feet. Her skin so porcelain, it was ethereal.
“My children” The woman said. Finally it clicked, this was the moon goddess.
“Mother Selene” Oliver -who she now took notice of- said vowing his head. She on the other hand couldn’t speak. An ocean of tears as she stared at her lunar beauty.
“Cry no more my child, it’s okay” Selene said making her way towards them.
“Mother Selene, why is our fate so rotten?” Olive asked with an audible crack in her voice.
“It isn’t rotten child” Selene said cupping her tear stained cheeks.
“Then why do we suffer so?” Olive asked
“Because the both of you are special” Selene responded
“Oliver and I? Special?”
“The both of you have been reincarnated” Selene said
“As in, we had past lives?” Oliver asked
“Yes and not only that but you are immensely favoured as well. Zeus and Hades took a great liking to you.” Selene explained with a fond smile
“But we’re just omegas”
“You were created as omegas to protect you. You powers have been pushed deep inside you, if you train harder they’ll gradually surface”
“You said we were created not born, why?”
“Because that is how you were made. Gods are created not born my dear” Selene answered with a smile
“Gods?!” Olive exclaimed
“Demigods, you were created by the original gods”
“But…”
“If you wish to learn of your previous lives, search Dove falls and Damien black. That is.., if you’re curious”
“But who’s gonna help us?” Olive asked
“Don’t worry, that is already taken care of. I have to go now but we will meet again” Selene said as darkness crowded Olive’s eyes with a strong force pushing her back as the goddess’ voice growing more distant, where she was being pushed to, she has no idea, probably back to reality.
She faintly heard a voice calling her name, getting louder with each call.
“Olive. Olive wake up” A familiar voice said.
“Olive!” The voice yelled startling her awake
“Oliver?” She asked weakly
“You’re awake” Oliver said, relief clear in his tone
She looked around only to find out they weren’t in the forest anymore.
“How are we here?” Olive asked still hazy from sleep.
“Finally you’re awake.” A masculine voice said making them snap their heads in the direction it came from.
Near the fireplace, sat an old but well built man who looked to be in his early sixties, his hair full on white as well as his beard.
“Where are we?” I asked, wearily shifting closer to Oliver.
“You’re at my cabin.”
“Why?”
“It’s nice to have my kind around.”
“You’re a wolf?”
“Yes.”
“What about your pack?”
“Enough of the questions.”
“Why were you sleeping on the forest floor on your own?”
“Umm, we were banished from our pack.”
“Hmm. What pack?”
“Dark shadow.” She replied making a look of shock cross his features.
“If you’re from dark shadow, you must be the twins they brought in 18 years ago.” The man said, concern clear in his tone.
“H-how do you know that?”
“I used to be the head warrior.” The man said with gritted teeth.
“That would be before Alpha Kyle was instated then.”
“Kyle? Why is he the Alpha?”
“We’ll he became the Alpha at the age of seventeen which was when we were seven.” Oliver answered.
“Hmmm. This isn’t good at all. The both of you need to be looked after. Let’s go.” The man said
“What? We don’t even know who you are.”
“All you need to know is I’m going to change your lives, Vincent Kane.”
. . . AT 20 YEARS ...
Two years since Kane had taken the twins in, sheltered them, fed them, taught them, trained them. Turned out that Alpha Kyle wasn't meant to be the Alpha for very complicated reasons but Olive couldn't care less.
They had just had their graduation, scoring first class in their respective courses. They were no longer who they used to be having unlocked their powers. Occasionally, they speak with the goddess being demigods and all.
"Congratulations" Kane said with a smile.
"Thank you" She and Oliver answered in unison. Kane hadn't been able to make it to the ceremony, so of course he congratulated them on their immediate arrival home.
She and Oliver had been toying with an idea they weren't sure Kane would approve of, but it was silently at the back of their minds.
"Kane, we've been thinking..." Olive said over dinner.
"of?" Kane questioned.
"We want to start an agency..., an assassination agency." Olive answered, the last part a bit quieter.
"Hmm, really?" Kane questioned still focused on his food causing the twins to shift uncomfortably in their seats due to his lack of responses.
"Yes."
"What will use as its cover?" Kane asked.
"We were thinking the company, since I majored in business management and Oliver in international relations." Olive said.
"Seems like the both of you have it carefully planned then?"
"Yes."
"Very well then.".
. . . AT 21 YEARS ...
A year since the twins successfully established 'The Rose', its agents earning the name 'collectors'. The twins had exceptionally made a name for themselves as 'The Reckoning' and increasing the population of the agency to twenty.
Inside a well-furnished office, -two desks facing each other with a floor to ceiling window overlooking the city- situated at the top floor of the three story building, there sat Olive looking through documents when Oliver walked in.
"Liv, new target. Anonymous tip." Oliver announced with a file in hand.
"What do we have?"
"Hector, 62 years old, crimes of rape, child abuse and child captivity. Lives two cities away from Eden city which is a thirty minute run in our wolves, Human."
"Human?" Olive asked with a small upturn of her lips, her gaze still focused on the documents before her.
"Do you need me to repeat myself?" Oliver asked, his tone laced with sarcasm.
"Whatever. I'm down for a little hunt anyway." Olive replied.
"Good. We better leave now if we're gonna finish up early. Its already dinner time." Oliver said taking the lead to the elevator heading to the last floor.
They quickly changed to their work uniforms which consist of a black bodysuit and a black weapon strap for their guns and knives. Tonight, they didn't need much, three knives would do.
They left the building, stripping and neatly folding their clothes before shifting. With their clothes in their jaws, they took off for their destination.
'Finally, I'm loose.' Iris, Olive's wolf said.
'So? You're giving me a headache.' Olive replied.
'Dickhead. Humph!' Iris said with a scoff before shutting her out.
'I think Iris won't be talking for a while.' Olive said to her twin through their mind link.
'What did you do this time?' Oliver and his wolf Isaac asked simultaneously.
'Nothing too serious though.'
'You were being a dick again, weren't you?' Oliver asked.
'Yes she was.' Iris said through their link before shutting her out once more.
Soon they arrived at their location. In sight was the oblivious target. He had a blunt in his hand and was staggering towards a rundown apartment building. In silence, they followed, using the darkness as a perfect cover of what their presence entailed.
Up the stairs, the man staggered with his killers not too far.
"Shit." The drunk man mumbled as he couldn't seem to get the door open.
"Can't you make it a bit faster?" Olive said causing the man to freeze up immediately.
"W-who are you?" The man stuttered as his eyes frantically searched for whom the voice belonged to.
"Just get the door will ya?" Oliver said, annoyance clear in his tone.
The man jumbled with the keys some more before he finally got the door open.
He walked into the apartment with shaky legs as she followed, slowly emerging from the darkness that hid her.
As she approached him, the man had lost the look of fear and had replaced it with a proud smirk. With the thought of it being a woman that to him was as weak as they come, his smirk only grew. His confidence only grew with each slow stride Olive took towards him forgetting the other voice he had heard earlier on.
The apartment looked fairly decent but there was something that caught Olive's eye. A trail of dried blood. Straining her ears in the direction it led, she could hear faint breathing.
'There's someone inside.' Olive linked her brother who was still patiently watching from outside the door.
'On it.' He linked back. He quickly rushed for the inside, too fast for the man's human eye to see and the man too high to notice the breeze that had blown past him.
"Now princess..." The man drawled as Olive had finally stopped few feet before him. Olive inwardly shuddered at the comment.
"What brings you here?" The man asked, ravaging her body with his eyes.
"You'd be surprised." Olive replied making the man laugh.
'There are two malnourished wolves tied up in the basement.' Oliver mind linked Olive
'Are they conscious?'
'Yes. They said their names are Evelyn and Ellis, 19 years old, Twins.' Oliver replied.
'Good. I'll round up here.'
"Well, looks like your time's up weirdo." Olive said, her knife coming to view.
"What do you..."
"Bye." Olive said tossing the knife at the vein on his neck, effectively killing him.
