This story first starts at a time long before Samantha or Justin was born, a time where tyrants were in rule. It just so happened that these story’s will line up soon enough, but as the story goes...
Long ago there was a boy, lined up to take the throne after his father. He goes by the name of Alek. Further down the kingdom there was a spirit, she went by the name of Gee. Now Gee wasn’t a normal spirit, but a spirit that was connected to a cat. She could only be seen by a human if she turns into a cat.
Everyday she would make her way down to the castle and watch the boy as he grew into a man, but he would always see her as a cat. Days after days it was the same routine, go to the castle and spend the day with the prince.
Alek’s father passed away from the flu just as he turned 19, and once he was made into the new tyrant the elders told him he needed to find a princess to make his concubine. First Gee was happy for him to finally get the throne, but after it set in she realized that she had fell in love with him. Gee became depressed quickly not knowing what to do she stopped going down to the castle. Alek thought it was strange that the cat hasn’t returned after a couple days, but was to caught up in his work to do anything. Five days have gone by and Gee had a sudden thought, “maybe I can find a way to be with him.” Going around to every other spirit asking for as much help as they can give her she met a spirit by the name of James. He had told her, “ I can help you, but it will effect the future.” Not thinking about it she quickly accepted his offer. He went away to do his work, and after a day he told her “If you sign this scroll you will become human, you will never be able to turn back to a spirit. Know this though, once generations and generations pass of your family there will be a child who will possess the same power of you to turn into a cat. It will not be in their control what time they shift. It might be a huge burden...
I have spoken.”
Gee signs daydreaming about meeting the tyrant not listening to what the spirit had to say. Just as the spirit had said though once she signed she was a human. She shifted into a cat and ran towards the castle, toward the one she loved. Once she got to him she had realized she was to late...
He had already chosen someone. Amanda the princess of the neighboring kingdom.
In shock Gee ran away, but she didn’t know where she was going. On the edge of the kingdom that lead to the forest, she ran in. Shifting into a cat she ran deeper and deeper. For five days she lay. The sun was shining bright and the breeze was warm. Gee got up hungry, she went to a tree turned to a cat and climbed up to catch a bird. She was close to catching one til she felt a hot burning feeling in her back. In shock she turned her head to see an arrow right in her back. Gee didn’t have enough strength to hold on the the branch and fell.
She was in pain and life was flooding out of her. With the energy she had left she glanced up to see the tyrant with coming closer with the bow put back on his back. Alek had noticed what he had done, picking up Gee. She died right as he picked her up unshifting. In shock at the human that was once a cat he buried her right there.
The scroll she signed had been broken when she died, but because the tyrant had killed her it has been passed off onto him.
Since the tyrant, the curse has been passed down from generation to generation til the year 2000. That’s when Justin was born, a beautiful baby with brown eyes like milk chocolate and hair a dark brown with highlights of red.
Growing up Justin lived a good life, his dad being a CEO of a software company and his mom is a teacher at a local school. It was 2016 when everything changed for him.
Justin was in the middle of practicing viola for his end of the year 9th grade concert, when his mom came into the room. “Justin I have big news for you!”, her face lit up as she was announcing the big news. “We’re movings!”, Justin perked up when he herd it and was flooded with emotions. Anger, sadness, and confusion. He turned to his mother and looked her in the eyes, “are we really?” Justin’s mother was so happy she couldn’t hear the despair in his voice. “We sure are, say your goodbyes and pack up. We need to be out in two weeks.” Justin’s mother left the room to go and pack up things around the house. Justin’s head was spinning, why does he have to move now out of any other time. Angry, he started to look around for stuff to pack up.
*knock knock*
“Justin wake up, don’t want to be late do you? This is going to be your last day of school.” Justin’s dad told him as he woke him up. The smell of pancakes was strong, and made Justin hungry, he looks out the window to his backyard taking it in. Walking down stairs the smell of pancakes became stronger, heading to the kitchen to some his dad passes by him to go off to work. “I saved two pancakes just for you!” Justin’s mom tells him as she puts them on a plate. The smell of a warm pancake makes Justin forget for a bit that they are moving. He takes a bite of the warm and sweet pancakes paired with a golden brown syrup. With a sigh of contentment he gets up and heads for school.
Walking up towards the bus stop, Justin dreads the moment that he has to tell his friends. At that moment he decides to walk instead, it was that bad of a walk after all. It would be nice to deley the inevitable, halfway to the school he passes a homeless man that seems familiar. As he walks passed he pulls out a dollar and gives it to the man, he continues to take a couple steps but the man begins to talk. “Thank you young man, you are very kind. Very pure too, reminds me of a girl I knew.” Turning around Justin doesn’t see the man anymore. ‘Weird’ he thought looking around he sees nothing but a keychain with a cat on it. Hesitates but decides to pick it up. It was a nice keychain, hand carved and it seemed to have a symbol on its head. “Might as well keep it just in case I see him again.” Justin said to himself.
