It was around 8pm when I arrived at the mini-pub. Emily is my best friend and I would do anything for her, which means spend my day off with her. Today is her first time playing her guitar in public, so I am here to support her.

I was a bit late so I couldn't find a nice spot, but somewhere at the corner I saw an empty seat. Just in time, she started. She's a talented girl and I love that in her. I was giving that you-can-do-it-stares at her as she performed. When she was about to end someone just poked my shoulder. I turned to see a mesmerizing blue eyes.

"Are you in love with her or something?" this unknown man said staring intensely at me.

I'm feeling uncomfortable with his intense gaze at me but I can't let him know that.

"Why do say that?" I tried to sound casual.

"It's just the way you're looking at her."

"What? Can't a woman do whatever she wants to?"

"Of course" he smirked. "Do you know her?" he asked looking at Emily.

"She's my bestie. She's doing great up there, right?" I said trying to sound calm and relaxed.

"She's talented and she's lucky to have you as a friend. You're beautiful" it took me a while to realise what he just said.

How can someone change the subject so randomly?? Does he realise the effects of his words?

"Thanks" I said turning away because his eyes were burning my skin.

I'm not used to this kind of attention. I'm the kind of girl who doesn't catch the attention at first sight. When you spend your entire life focused on books, no one pays attention to you.

I didn't notice Emily's performance was over until some claps echoed from the mini-pub. I stood up joining the crowd. Emily made eye-contact with, so I have to go to her. I was about to say goodbye to that man but he wasn't there anymore. That's weird but I just let it go.

"Congrats Emy!! I knew you would do it, you're amazing!" I said hugging her tight.

"I would believe if you weren't flirting with the first guy you met during my performance" and there she goes with her sarcasm.

"Wait, what? You saw that?!"

"Duh, of course! He's hot, do you have his phone number??"

"Erm... No?" She litterally face palmed herself with my answer.

"Miah, you know I love you but sometimes I want to beat your face so hard!"

"It's not my fault!" I defended myself. "He litterally disappeared in the crowd."

"You can't lie to me, so I believe in you" she smiled.

"You know me so well" I said smiling while grabbing my bag, ready to go home.

The lights were off when I arrived home, which means my mom is sleeping. I walked in on tiptoes just to make sure I won't wake her up. She needs to rest well and I don't want to disturb her. I took a shower as soon as I reached upstairs and was ready to have a good sleep. At least that's what I thought because as soon as I closed my eyes, a pair of blue lagoons filled the darkness of my sleep.

Today was just one normal day in my normal life. I think I forgot to introduce myself on the previous chapter. My name is Miah Lorenzo and I'm 21 years old. I live with my mom, she's my only family and I love her so much. By the way, she's sick now. She has a very rare heart disease and everything I can do is keep her calm, avoid strong emotions and make a living for both of us. Don't ask me about my father because I know nothing about him and honestly I don't wanna know (even my mom doesn't talk about him).

I already made the breakfast and luch for my mom and now I have to rush to college. She was sitting on the sofa reading her book when she noticed me.

"Take care sweetie, have a nice day" she said with her warm smile I couldn't help but smile too.

"Thank you mom! Rest well and anything you want to eat is in the kitchen. Call me whenever you need me." she nodded and I walked out.

I can't help but feel worried everytime I leave my mom alone at home. Luckily our neighbor Mrs. Hastings helps me taking care of her while I'm on my part-time job during the nights. She volunteers at the nursing home and only after that she goes to my house.

Once I'm at college I rush to my class, otherwise I would get late. Being in last year of college is frustrating and I have to deal with it and my part-time job and my mom's condition. No time at all for lovey-dovey stuff!

Talking about this, I can't forget that man. It's been two weeks since that night and still I can't help but think about him. Fortunately, my thoughts were interrupted by the teacher, reminding me what really matters now.

When class was over, I met Emily at the college cafeteria.

"Urgh, today was a stressing day!" she let out a frustrated moan while we were sitting.

"Same here" I sighed rolling my eyes. "You know what? Let me order our food right now!" I said standing up and she threw me a confused look.

"With this attitude of yours I can tell you're still thinking about your mysterious man"

"You're wrong Emy!" I almost shouted but ignored her and turned to leave the table.

Emy was even more excited than I was about this matter. I really don't care that much because this is not what I want right now. I have no time to think about love. First my mom and my graduation, maybe later I can think of it. Right now, no time for lov—

"Excuse me" someone poked my shoulder and I turned to see who it was.

I was about to scream to the person who interrupted my thoughts, but my body didn't respond to my brain's orders as soon as I saw a mesmerizing pair of blue lagoons.

Could it get worse? That was my first thought.

I couldn't believe in my eyes. He was right here in front of me. I stood there just blinking, but then he smirked.

"Hey, it's just me, wake up" He said wiggling his hand in front of my face as if he realised I was in a trance.

"Of course it's just you" I pretended like nothing happened.

"So you remember me, huh?" he said steping close to me.

"I can say the same for you" I stated the obvious.

"I'm Josh, and you little girl?" I almost failed at hiding my blushing face.

"I'm Miah, and not a little girl for you" Josh laughed at my not-so angry face.

"Okay, Miah... It is pleasure to talk to you right now, but I really have to go" why I'm a sad with his words?. "See you around!"

Just when I was about to say goodbye, he disappeared. Again. Seriously, what's wrong with him? At least he said something before he disappear, an inner thought reminded me. I ordered our food and brought to Emily.

"What's up with your face?" She asked as soon as I sitted.

"Remember that guy of the mini-pub? Yeah, he was here" I said casually.

"HE WHAT?" I glared at her embarrassed and she realised she screamed. "Sorry, he what?" Now she's whispering.

"He was here, we talked and we know each other's name" She was listening carefully while eating her sandwich.

"That's all? What about his phone number? You have it, right?"

She rolled her eyes when she understood my silence.

"Next time I will be there to make sure you have his number! He is a good match for you. Stop wasting your chances!"

"It's not like I'm looking for men" I rolled my eyes either.

"Aff... Don't cry at me when you're old with your seventeen cats around you"

"You wish" I said playfully eating my food.

When we finished, she had to go back to her classes and I was heading to the library. This is the only time I have in day to review all the learned contents and do my assigned works. I looked for an isolated spot and when I found it I rushed to sit. I was already concentrated on my studies when someone well known entered the library. It was like our eyes were linked, because as soon as we were on the same space, our eyes met as if they know what they were looking for.

Josh walked towards me and sitted by my side.

"Hey Miah" I nodded pretending to be concentrated on my books. "Can I have your phone number?" He said while taking out his cellphone.

Okay, stop it! This man should stop bringing this random subjects.

"Huh, yeah of course" I said quickly while typing my number on his phone.

"I'll text you later" he said looking at his cellphone. "And you should be more concentrated on your studies, don't get easily distracted by me" He advised me while smiling and then left the table and the library.

I was there, numb, dazzled and not giving a damn attention to my books. My skin was burning with his simple words and I'm thankful that he's not here anymore.

"Crap! I won't study like this!" And just when I said that, my cellphone alerted me a new incoming message.

*Text me when you're done studying*

Stop acting like a teenager, you're a young woman now, said a little voice inside me. I took a deep breath, then answered him.

*I'm sorry, after that I'll be busy... I have a part-time job*

*It's okay, I'll wait for you outside your job*

My eyes almost fell from my face.

*Then I'll send you the adress*

I attached the address and sent to him.

I put the cellphone aside and tried to focus back on my studies.
