“Running your own company from home with a 3 year old toddler, is probably not as easy as it sounds. But i took on the challenge and for the past year ive been working 6 hours a day even the weekends to catch up with orders. Im a custom work designer. Whether its for a wedding or maybe a baby shower to a simple birthday. Any custom work you need and ill do my best to get it done.”, I read outloud to my friend Ellie as we sat across from each other on the sofa.

“That's really good.” she replied, taking a sip of her wine.

Ellie was over for our weekly get together that she made me promise we would have every wednesdays and Sundays. Her boyfriend, Jackson, would come along for a get together with the whole family on Sundays .Ellie also knew about how rocky my relationship was with my boyfriend, Elliott.

Elliott and I have been together for 4 almost 5 years. We met through friends at a restaurant since at the time I wasn't old enough to drink at a bar. I was 20 years old in the middle of my junior year at the local state university. I worked at a bookstore and on the weekends, I helped at the city library downtown. I spent most of my time reading and getting lost in a book if I wasn't busy working or studying. I was studying business management, since I wanted to one day start my own bakery, cafe mixed with a library.

But then I met Ellliott and he seemed to fit the typical love story main love interest in any book. He worked at his family's company, he had his own home already, a car, he was really sweet and wouldn't give up no matter how much I tried turning him down. I had told him countless times how I was trying to focus on schooling and getting my debt paid off as soon as I could. Eventually I gave in and we started dating. I had given up helping at the city library on the weekends since according to Elliott those were his days off so we should enjoy them together.And at the beginning it was great. He was the best all around.

Then a few months of dating i moved in with him and i know that it may seem like i jumped the gun on that one, but i was blindsided by my feelings for him. A few months after living together i found out i was pregnant and as much as i was happy about it, Elliott on the other hand was not. He complained and even threatened to leave since a baby this early wasn't part of the plan he had set up for us. Then after a few appointments and he got to see our baby on the screen and hear that little heartbeat he quickly changed his mind.

I finished my junior year and had started my senior year during my pregnancy. I had spoken with my professors and they offered to work with me as much as they could so long as it was a reasonable request. So 8 months pregnant and done with finals for my junior year, I switched to online classes for my Senior year.

Luna May was born on January 27th, just a few weeks into my senior year. While it was hard at first keeping up with classes and taking care of a newborn all while keeping myself sane, I did it and even finished early. I worked while Luna slept and and fed. I worked closely with the professors and gave them and myself enough time and realistic timelines for projects and assignments. So i end up graduating that summer with the help of everyone.

Elliott on the other hand, had become a bit of a workaholic. He had started to sleep in one of the guest bedrooms as I had turned our bedroom into a nursery slash office space to accommodate both Luna and myself. On one of the happiest days of my life,my graduation, feeling like if i could finish college while caring for a newborn then i could do anything, eliiott had a business trip that weekend so he was outta town. While it did sting that he wasn't there to enjoy and celebrate this moment with me, it was okay because everyone else was.

My parents did ask me a lot of questions on why Elliott wasn't around much and I usually covered for him without realizing it. I was so blind and in love, or so I thought, that I would make up excuses for him. Even after everything. In front of everyone, Elliott, Luna and I were the happy family. But behind closed doors, Elliott and I usually kept to ourselves. Only spending the night when Elliott was in the mood but it only lasted at most half an hour before he fell asleep and I would go check on Luna, only to fall asleep on the couch in her room.

“So tell me about this new job elliotts been thinking about taking?” Ellie asked.

“Oh yeah he just told me this morning before he left for work so i don't know all the details. But what I do know is that it's in Oregon. And that if he takes it we would have to in 2 weeks since it starts in May.” I replied by taking a sip of my wine glass while taking a look at the baby monitor to check on Luna.

“That soon?” She asked, “And How do you feel about it? I know that you've always wanted to live surrounded by the forest and rainy weather.” she smiled.

“I'm excited but nervous you know? Being so far away from all of you guys.” I said looking at her, “I'm also afraid that I won't have anyone there to vent to like I do with you.” I laughed

“Girl i'm only a phone call away and we can always facetime on our usual days that we get together so i can make sure you're staying healthy and there's no bruises on you or Luna.” She says jokingly while knowing deep down there's always a possibility.

“Stop you know i wouldn't let that happen.” I said seriously. Now while Elliotts never laid a hand on my or Luna, he does have quite a temper. One wrong thing and he can go off. Of course only behind closed doors where no one else can hear or see him lose his cool composure.

In the baby monitor i can see Luna getting out of bed, “Looks like thats my que.” I smile at her placing my glass down before getting up.

“What time did you say Elliot was getting home?” Ellie asked getting up and picking up glass before placing it along with her in the sink.

“In half an hour or so.” I replied looking at the time on the stovetop, 4:28PM it read. Taking note that I should start dinner in a few minutes.

“Okay then imma head out. Just gonna say bye to my favourite niece and ill see you in a few days. Text me the details of that job offer okay?” she asks as she heads to Luna's room to say goodbye.

I follow behind her, seeing her open Luna's door, only for Luna to jump into her arms.

“Elle” She screams excitedly. “I miss you” Luna pouts. Causing Ellie and I to laugh.

“Lulu you saw me a few days ago “Ellie replies hugging her closer, “but i know what you mean. I miss you too monkey”

I hear my phone ringing so I head back to the living room to answer it, seeing Elliots name on the screen.’

“Hello?” I answer.

“Hey rose, im on my way now is Luna asleep? I have a few more projects I need to finish so if you guys can keep it down?” Elliot replies. Never one to beat around the bush, hes always straight to the point.

“Yea sure we can manage.” I reply, “BUt you know she's a kid she's allowed to make noise.” I try and reason.

“Not right now Rose.”He cuts me off before i can say anything else, “I'm almost there. Instead of taking on the phone you should be cooking don't you think?” He says rudely.

Stopping the tears before they can fall. I smile and say. “Actually Luna And I are having dinner with my parents tonight. So you're on your own.” Then hang up knowing that I'll regret it later.

:Okay I'm off” Ellie says handing me Luna before grabbing her bag and walking towards the door, “I'll see you guys on Sunday right?”

“Yes of course, love you, drive safe.” I smile and wave as Luna yells out “BYE!” waving like crazy.

Closing the door behind her i turn to Luna and ask, “Wanna go see grandma and grandpa?” Putting her down so i can hurry and pack a bag for dinner knowing that ill have to call my mom on the way there.

“YES!” Luna yells as she starts jumping up and down.

‘Okay then Monkey. Imma need your help. Go get your shoes and pick out some toys to take with you okay baby?” I ask her while heading to the entryway grabbing my diaper bag making sure to carry extra diapers, a change of clothes and my wallet.

In Luna's backpack she has her toys and her juice cup along with some snacks for the road and her tablet that my parents gifted her for her birthday.

“Okay baby lets put your shoes on hurry come on.” I pat the couch for her to sit on while i put her shoes on.

Putting her shoes on and slipping my own on, I grab both of our bags in one hand while reaching for her hand with my other. I grab the keys on my way out stopping to close the front door before rushing to the car.

After making sure she's bucked in with her juice and snacks while watching videos on her tablet I hurry over to my side and climb in. Before driving off and heading over to my parents.

As I'm driving I can't help but be relieved. I somehow managed to escape an argument that i know will come later but for now I can think about the new opportunities that come with living in a new state. And before I forget I need to call my mom.

“Hey Siri, call my mom.” I call out to my phone as I lower the volume to the radio. I let my mom know I'm on my way if she can watch Luna for a few hours while I take care of some things. And she agrees letting me know she'll be outside waiting.

Pulling into my parents driveway i can see my parents standing outside on the porch, waiting for Luna to run up to them. I go into the backseat and unbuckle Luna, putting her down so she can run and say hi to my parents. I then quickly move her extra diapers and change of clothes to her backpack so i can leave.

“Thank you guys for watching her for a few. I was hoping to get some big orders done by tonight but with crazy butt over there its almost impossible. So thank you guys.” I said as i walked up the driveway and onto the porch. I hug both my parents before handing my mom Lunas backpack.

“Theres everything you should need. Ill be back in 2-3 hours. She just woke up from her nap so shes bound to be hyper and hungry. She ate a snack on the way here but you know how she is “ i laugh.

“Okay mi hija.” My mom says giving me another hug. “Drive safe okay” she tells me.

“Of course mom. See ya dad.” I said giving him another hug.

“Love you guys thanks again.” i said as i walked towards Luna.

“Baby girl ill be back in a few okay baby. You be good okay. I love you with all my heart okay.” I pull her in close and hug her tight.

“Love you too mommy”She said back.

“Okay bye guys.” I wave bye “Hurry mamas go play and i love you lots” I said, throwing her a kiss.

I head to my car and climb in waving one last time before reversing and driving back home. Time to face the music. Better to do this while Luna isn't there to see or hear him yelling or throwing things.

“I’m home” I called out seeing Elliot's shoes on the floor by the door.
