🧩 Part 1: The Map in the Wall

The storm had been raging for hours.

Thunder cracked through the night like a whip, and rain lashed the windows of the old countryside mansion where Ethan Cross stood, watching shadows dance across the walls. The house had once belonged to his grandfather, a man Ethan barely remembered—but now, after his parents' mysterious disappearance, it was his.

The will had arrived on his 17th birthday. No explanation. Just a rusty old key and a note:

"When the storm comes, the house will wake."

He didn’t believe in omens. Not really. But the way the lightning seemed to strike just above the roof tonight made him wonder if this house was waiting for something… or someone.

He paced the hallway, the floorboards creaking like whispers in the dark.

That’s when he heard it.

Click…

A sound behind the wall. Not a normal creak. This was deliberate. Like a lock opening.

He turned toward the noise, heart thudding. One of the wooden panels on the hallway wall was shifting—slowly pushing itself open from the inside.

"What the hell..." he muttered, stepping closer.

Inside the hollow wall, hidden by generations of dust and spiderwebs, was a compartment. And in that compartment lay a rolled-up parchment, tied with what looked like a piece of braided silver hair.

Ethan didn’t know why, but his hands trembled when he reached for it. He untied the strange cord and unrolled the paper.

It was a map.

But not of anywhere he recognized.

There were swirling lines, symbols that didn’t look like any language he’d seen, and a dark X marked “The Gate.” At the bottom, in faded ink, were the words:

> “Only the descendant may open what was sealed in blood.”

---

🗺️ THE NEXT DAY

Ethan brought the map to school, unsure if it was some elaborate prank left by his grandfather. That’s where Aria Vale spotted him in the library, huddled in a corner with his usual scowl.

“Why are you looking like you found Atlantis?” she said, dropping her bag beside him.

Ethan hesitated, then slid the map over.

Aria’s eyes lit up.

“Whoa. This isn’t a regular map. These are occult markings. Old. Like ancient-old.”

He raised an eyebrow. “You can read that?”

She shrugged. “Not all of it. But I’ve seen this symbol before…” She pointed to the crescent shape carved over a mountain line. “It’s the mark of the Aether Gate. My mom used to tell me stories about it—how a portal was sealed shut by a family of guardians after a great war.”

Ethan blinked.

Guardians? Portals? War?

“Sounds like a bedtime story.”

“Maybe. Or maybe your grandfather was one of them.”

⚡ THAT NIGHT

Drawn by something unspoken, Ethan returned to the panel in the wall. This time, he pressed deeper into the space, finding a small metal switch behind the hollow. When he flicked it—

The floor beneath him rumbled.

A section of the library shelf twisted and slid open like gears in a clock, revealing a hidden staircase leading down into darkness.

He grabbed a flashlight and slowly descended.

At the bottom was a room lined with books—scrolls, relics, and dusty artifacts. And in the center: a pedestal with a small circular device.

It looked like a compass, but its needle spun wildly in circles.

Beside it, a notebook.

He flipped it open. It was written by Professor Linwood, a name he vaguely recognized from some old articles his dad used to read.

> "The Gate is real. It lies beneath the sands, beneath the forgotten city. The heir holds the compass. The compass only points when it feels the blood."

"Ethan, if you're reading this, the world is in danger again."

---

🧳 THE JOURNEY BEGINS

The next morning, Ethan and Aria stood in front of an abandoned underground rail system in the edge of the forest.

Following clues from the professor’s notes, the compass had started spinning wildly as they neared this place. But when Ethan cut his hand by accident on a metal spike, the compass froze—and pointed forward.

Blood.

It really worked.

They stepped onto the rusted tracks and followed the compass’s direction until they found it: a rusted elevator shaft that went deep underground. Deeper than any subway should.

The inside was dark, the smell of earth and something ancient pressing against their lungs.

As the doors closed behind them and the elevator began to descend, Aria whispered:

“Ethan… what exactly are we about to find?”

He didn’t answer.

Because far below them, something stirred.

Something that hadn’t moved in centuries.

Something that had just awakened.
