Love Mismatched

Encounter

Loud thud from the wall made the things on my wall cabinet fell down the floor. My favorite just random angel figurine got broken and its head rolled to meet my toes.

What the ****? Oh right. There's really an actual **** goin' on the other side of this poor thin wooden wall.

I picked up the beheaded angel figurine and its head and walked towards the wall to knock it, really hard. And shouted:

"Hey! Tristan, brother! Have you ever considered doing it slow and passionate and... and not on the wall? May I remind you that there's only one thin wooden wall that separates our room and it's not doing good! I can actually kick this and watch you live—which is I wouldn't, but... but what I am actually trying to say is please, just please don't bang on the poor wall! Do it properly! You have bed, don't you? Use it! A fucking pretty please?"

Silence answered me first. I almost thought someone just kicked him and he hit himself on the wall but that thought disappeared when I heard him answered. Thank, God. I thought I screamed for nothing.

"Sorry, Lari! Nadala lang!" he followed it with a laugh. "I would take your advice. Thank you very much!"

I shrugged and put the beheaded angel figurine and its head back to its place on the cabinet. Gonna glue the head back later. I'm running late to school.

"That's so sweet of you. You're very much welcome." I said and grabbed my bag to leave this house. A messed up— like a typhoon specially came here just to put everything out of its places and immediately left after completing the destruction—kind of place that I wholeheartedly call home.

Actually, we just moved here yesterday and the whole house already turned upside down because of my messed-house loving brothers. I can call this home already because like what the infamous saying that goes 'It's not the roof and walls that made it home, it is the people inside it', I have my brothers here, so therefore it is my home.

Enough of the heartfelt speech. I'm now in front of my new school. Not literally my school, this is the new hell, school rather, that I will attend. I'm so excited. Believe me. Gosh. Please. Who the hell wants to attend school? Are you? 'cause it's definitely not me.

I scanned the whole quadrangle and the school buildings not too far from where I am. Obviously, it is a school for rich kiddos. Not just because every corner of this school says they are made for kids born with golden spoon, but because the students scattered around are all carrying their golden spoons. Literally, no. It's just all their things look like it would cost me an arm and leg, or maybe my whole body plus my clean soul to buy.

The students here are shining with elegance. And there are four shining the brightest walking towards God-knows-where-but-I-don't.

I watched these girls drool over them. Wow. They're rich and classy and I'm glad I'm not one of them. Do rich girls normally drool for four shining with wealthiness male specimens? Gah. So... disappointing.

I continued looking for my classroom instead of wasting my time shaking my head in disappointment to these enthralled ladies.

"Room 102..." I whispered.

Because of my lack of awareness from my surroundings for I am too busy looking at the numbers written on the signboards above the doors of classrooms, I accidentally bumped into someone making all of that someone's things scatter on the floor. Better way of saying I'm stupid for not noticing.

"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry!" she apologized and quickly ducked to pick up her things.

Huh? Did she just apologized? So it was her fault. I can't believe I really thought it is me who is stupid, when in fact it is....

She raised her head up and we locked eyes.

... it is really me.

I quickly squat to help her pick her things up. A goddess needs my help. Really. Talk about a blessed Monday.

"Are you okay, Miss?" I asked. Which is totally unnecessary but I just want to talk to her.

She nods and showed me a heart-strucking smile. Wait. Is this what they call love at first sight? Not because she's beautiful, okay? I am not really the kind of into physical attractions. Okay. Fine, let's say her face plays a lot but it's not just that. God, just please, don't judge me!

"I'm fine. Are you? I'm sorry, I was just in a hurry because I will be late on my first day. I didn't saw you walking here." Her voice sounds very gentle. Her eyes are gentle. Her smile is gentle.

Holy moly... She's a Goddess of Gentleness.

I smiled. "I'm fine. Actually, I've never been this fine... You must've done something to me. I feel so... enchanted."

Did I just say that?

"What?" Jesus! Even her giggles sounds harmonic. "You're funny. But as much as I would love to talk to you more, I really am late. I gotta go."

I hesitated to let her go but I don't want to look like an idiotic love sick girl to a girl I've just met.

"S-sure. See you around."

"See you."

Sa totoo lang, hindi ako sigurado kung talagang magkikita pa kami. Sa lawak ng school na 'to? Nah-uh.

I found my classroom and because I am really late, I ran inside only to bump into someone again. What's with this 'bumping-into-someone' day? If it's the goddess earlier again, I wouldn't complain. But it's the entire opposite. It's not a goddess, it's a devil.

"Wow. Your tactic is really, really... old. I can't believe people still do that cliche until now." He said, smirking as he turn around to see me.

I looked at him in confusion. "Anong tactic?"

After scanning him from head to toe, I thought I've seen the goddess to him only that this guy is entirely different. No hint of gentleness. I'm not the judgmental type but his entire existence screams arrogance.

Oh, natatandaan ko na! He's one of those brightest stars I've seen walking earlier with all those girls drooling over them. That explains his cockiness. Thinking so high of himself, are we?

"You want me notice you, am I wrong?" he leaned forward, down to my level.

K, fine. Matangkad siya.

I am already taller than the average girl or , generally, person's height and yet this star is taller than me. Not that I'm complaining, it's just not too common to find someone with that height.

Ano nga ulit 'yung sinabi niya? Gusto kong... mapansin niya? I failed to contain my laughter with what he said. His forehead creases while I'm laughing my *** out.

"What's so funny?" He asked.

"Ikaw!" I pointed him, can't stop laughing. "You're asking if you're wrong? Well, Your Highness of the brightest stars among others, you are."

"Brightest... stars...? And why the hell are you laughing?" Now, he sounded annoyed and irritated.

Afraid that he might just punch me, I stopped laughing.

Okay. I cleared my throat and hide my laughter in a twitching smile. "Wala, wala."

I turned to look around the classroom I entered. Only to find out that it's not just one star who is here, the other three as well. And all of the students' eyes here are on me. I wonder why.

Am pretty sure that I entered a correct room. But the four shining stars are here too. Which only means one thing. They entered the wrong room. How I wish that's the case.

"Now, that is not old." One of the four stars stopped in front of me. "I'm Christian." He smiled, flirtatiously. Believe me, I know that smile. My five brothers smile like that whenever they want to flirt with a certain girl, and that's all the time because they were born to flirt.

I gave him an annoyingly sweet smile. "I didn't asked."

"Oof.." another one of stars funnily stopped his laugh. Among them, this one looks more decent. "May I ask what's your name?" He asked me when he noticed that I'm looking at him.

Tumango ako. "Yes, you may."

He chuckled. "Thank you for permitting me so. Then, what's your name?"

"Clarissa."

The guy named Christian appeared again resting his hand on the shoulder of the decent-looking man. "Clarissa. Very girly name for, uhm, feisty lady," he said, still not getting rid of his flirtatious smile. As if I'd fall for such.

I sighed. "Yep. I know. Very unfortunate of me. That's why I prefer being called Lari."

"So, Lari!"

I was surprised with the sudden appearance of the first star in front of me.

"You're aware that you just annoyed me, aren't you? A girl playing hard to get is not new to me, though. So you'll be granted of the attention that you wished for." He is smirking but his eyes tells me how much he is unpleased by my so-called-playing hard to get scheme, at least according to him.

One word to describe him now. Funny.

Honestly, he looks scary. But it'll only appear that way if he's facing to a more damsel like. Sadly, I am the horse of the Knight in shining armor so I find it funny.

"The only thing I wished is to be hella rich that I'll be able to buy a house with thick walls or much better the soundproof ones, because..." I stepped forward to whisper to him the last words. "...my brothers love banging their girls on walls. It's waking me up every time they do that at night. Plus their girls always scream at the top of their freakin' unhealthy lungs every climax. Disgusting and annoying, right? I know.." I shook my head, barely laughing.

He looked at me disbelief, lips slightly apart.

"Seriously..." he sounded so shocked.

I laughed and smacked his arm. "Seriously! See? Even you can't believe they can do that to me. Pero, sanay na ako. Alam mo naman, mga kapatid. Kasama ko sila habang buhay kaya nasanay na rin. Not that I have options to choose from. Whether or not, I gotta live with them and get used to their... dirty sides." I shrugged and fixed the sliding strap of my bag on my shoulder. "I'll take my seat now."

I'm very much aware of the eyes following my every steps but I have this talent of perfecting the art of ignoring something. At least I have a talent. But why the hell are they staring at me again?
