Maya was at the door step of her fiancé's house, Rick. She froze, she had heard something that sent shivers down her spine.

"Maya is so stupid, she doesn't realize that I'm with her just for her money." Rick said while laughing so hard like he'd won the lottery.

“I'll wait for her to transfer the half of her assets she promised me then I'll kill her on the night of our wedding so, the remaining goods will be mine, then I'll be all yours babe." Rick said whilst in the apartment with his mistress.

The hair color of the other woman seemed familiar, like as if she has seen it multiple times before now, the colour of the hair was light brown with blonde and light purple highlights, but Maya couldn't figure out who the hair reminded her of.

Maya knew that Rick will start to suspect her if she called-off the wedding that was supposed to be in a month before, but she also couldn't get married to a man as cruel as him.

She planned to stall time with some sort of excuse but didn't have any excuses in mind yet. As Maya was about to leave the place, her phone rang, breaking the silence. Now, Rick knew someone had overheard their conversation.

Maya started running as quietly as she could so, she wouldn't get caught, at the same time Rick headed for the door and realized that it was slightly open. Now he was sure that his conversation was heard by someone.

Maya had already escaped by the time he opened the door and luckily for her, he didn't suspect her either.

"Listen, you need to leave now."

 Rick said firmly to the other woman in his house, Jen. Panic was clearly evident in his eyes. His two biggest fears now was,

'What if the person who overheard reports him to the police',

and

' What if this person told his fiancé somehow'.

"Bye babe."

Jen said, expecting him to reply with some cute couple stuff, like

'Bye sweetheart'

or

'bye honey',

 But instead he just shoved her out his door. She was upset but was very understanding of the situation own, and threat that lay ahead as of that time.

As Jen turned to leave, she saw a shadow walking towards her. She panicked and started looking down and pretending to look through her purse. The Shadow walked passed and she finally raised her head. She pulled out a face mask, she tried to put it on, but it was hard as she was panicking and her hands were clearly trembling with undescribable fear. She ran forwards, towards the elevator, where she stopped and finally put on her mask before entering. Inside there was another lady, it was Maya. She almost immediately recognised that it was the hair of the person in the room of her fiancé earlier. She hid her face, so that she wasn't recognised by the person, but she desperately tried to uncover the face of the person as she realised that the person was wearing a mask.

The elevator closed, and Maya was about to press the button to the first floor, and coincidentally, Jen also reached to press the button to the first floor. Their hands met, as the both turned the opposite direction to avoid being discovered. Maya and Jen, proceeded to take their hands off the elevator at the same time.

Jen reached for the button again, and they both stood at each corner of the elevator, not looking at each other.

The door to the elevator finally opened, where they were awkwardly met with about five people looking at them as they walked out the door, obviously waiting to also get in.

 Maya and Jen lunged forward to get out of the elevator, as they squeezed past each other to get a chance to go out, Jen's Face makes fell off. She grabbed it from the floor really fast as she ran off, covering her face. Maya, followed, not to stall her, but because that was the exit direction.

Jen looked back, to see Maya going the same direction, but Maya looked back as soon as she saw Jen looking back in order to avoid being seen by Jen.

Maya pretended to wave at someone, to not seem suspicious, as she kept walking whilst looking back, she didn't realize when she was about to bump into a man, with soup in his hands. The souped poured on the floor and on her clothes. Jen still didn't see the face of Maya, but she used the chance to slip away.

"I'm so, sorry, so so sorry."

The guy said as panic became more evident on his face.

" It alright sir."

An awkward smile flashed across her face.

" No, it's not okay, I don't mind paying you back for the damage."

"No, it's seriously fine, I promise."

She tried to brush it off.

She caught sight of a mask in his pocket, she thought she could really use them, so she asked,

" Can I have one of the mask please?"

" Sure, of course."

He gave it to her and they both got on their way. He turned back and said,

"I'm so sorry once again."

And he turned back almost immediately. Maya didn't turn back, but she smiled warmly then she put in the mask. Although she felt a little embarrassed about her clothes, she wasn't as much bothered by it.

As she made her way home, she realized that quite a few people were talking about her clothes, she was at first bothered, but the mocking stopped, and she soon forgot about it. She made her way home, but first she called her best friend Casey, that she was coming over.

Maya finally got home and changed into a pink dress, she locked the door behind her when she left as she headed for Casey's house. It was just a few blocks down and then to the right, into Raisen Lane. at last, she managed to get there after walking 20 minutes.

Maya proceeded to knock on the door but got interrupted by a call from her boss, where she worked as an assistant for him as the CEO of a well known listed company called, Flores. Responsible for clothing designs, Makeup and Hair. There is many categories, for example, A salon, A clothing branded, Makeupp, Brand deals, skincare etc.

She picked it up out of frustration, she had been made to work overtime for the past few weeks.

“ Maya, I am sorry but I willl need you to work overtime tonight again.” Her boss said.

“ We have landed a major deal with Louis Vuitton. I’m sorry but this is all for our benefits” He continued

“ Fine, I’ll do it, but the pay better be good.” She emphasised as they both laughed her it off.

He cut off the line, and Maya knocked on the gate. Casey opened the door with a warm radiant smile on her face. Maya went in for a hug as they both fell down. They got up and laughed it off but they but knew the fall hurt.

“Let’s go inside.”

Casey suggested.

“Yeah, we should.”

Maya replied, voice cracking due to the pain. As she tried to walk, she felt a sudden pain in her lower back.

“Ow, ouch “ She screamed in pain.

She got inside with the support of Casey, where they called one of their other friend, Rachel. She worked as a nurse in the hospital a few minutes away from where Maya lives. Casey explained what happened and Maya explained how the pain felt. Afterwards, Rachel explained what to do.

“Casey, would you mind giving Maya a massage, wherever she says it hurts, meanwhile I’ll come over with medication for her to use.” She instructed.

“Sure.” Casey replied.

“But aren’t you on duty right now?”

“No, I am not, no more questions, just do what I told you to do I’m on my way already.

“Right.” Casey replied with a mix of sarcasm and excitement.

15 minutes later, the door bell rang.

“Oh it must be Rachel.” Maya said as she groaned in pain.

Casey went over to open the door, but it wasn’t Rachel. It was the Amazon delivery guy. He came to deliver the package sent to Casey by her aunt. She took it and went back inside with a big, heavy box in her hands.

“Was it Rachel?” Maya asked excited.

“No, It was the delivery guy.”

“ What’s that,. Did aunt Miranda send you something again, its like the fifth time this month.”

“Tell me about it.” Casey said sarcastically.

“What do you think might be inside there, like I mean the box is really big. Isn’t it heavy for you.’

She tried to stand up from her seat.

“Ahhh!” She screamed.

“It hurts.”

“Why did you try to stand up?” Casey asked, a bit concerned.

The bell rang again.

“It’s probably Rachel.” Maya said, whilst in agony.

Casey went to the check who it was.

“Rachel. Thank god, you’re finally here.” Maya could hear all the way from the living room.
