The hospital ward is full of buzz with people coming and going the baby is in the cradle beside valli who is still sleeping because of the medication and her mother is right beside her taking care of her granddaughter and her daughter. The happiness on her face is evident as she looks at her granddaughter lovingly. Just then satyanarayana entered the room and walked towards valli's bed.

The man was wearing a casual attire, anyone can tell that he just came back from his home after a good bath. He was holding a basket containing something making everyone wonder what he would have brought to a maternity ward. Satyanarayan was looking at the baby in the cradle from a far not daring to approach as he is seeing his baby just then after he saw her in the children's ward where he was not allowed to enter. Valli's mom looked at him standing a little far gazing at the child and hastily got up from her chair and asked him to sit.

Valli's Mom: When did you come son-in-law?

Satyanararyana: I just came from home after freshing up aunty. I brought food for you and valli.

Valli's Mom: Thank you son.

Satyanarayana: Its okay aunty. Is she awake? Asked satyanaryana looking at valli

Valli's Mom: No son…she has been sleeping like this ever since the surgery. The doctor says it is normal and that the stiches will heal better if she sleeps more and this is just due to the medication.

Satyanarayana: okay aunty… feed her after she wakes up she will be hungry.

Valli's Mom: Okay son… you can go and take care of any work you have I will stay with her.

Satyanarayana: Okay aunty…left after looking atwhat do you think that styanrayana has in kind that he seriously and urgently wants to meet his father in law his daughter one last time

But then again he remembered that he forgot to talk to his father-in-law being in the stress of the delivery and that his father-in-law was not present in the hospital during the surgery.He came out of the hospital and went towards his in- laws house.

*Valli's maternal house*

In the hall the old man is sitting in a sleeping chair and watching the old black and white tv. He was in cloud nin thinking that he saved a good amount of money by not admitting his daughter in a private hospital like his son-in-law asked. He thought his son-in-law will leave this matter as the delivery happened without any hitches and that his daughter is still in the hospital, he thought his son-in-law will be in the hospital takking care of his daughter and wife completely pre occupied forgetting about this thing completely. Little did he know that his beloved son-in-laaw is already on the way to his house to talk to himabout this thingwhat do you think that styanrayana has in kind that he seriously and urgently wants to meet his father in law

Chapter 4

On the way to valli's home

Satyanarayana's thoughts "Why is uncle doing this… I already asked uncle to make sure that valli is admitted in a private hospital to make sure that she has a safe delivery. Nine months during the pregnancy are a night mare for me and also her. She has been sick ever since my little one has been conceived. It has been a risky pregnancy ever since and I did not want to take any chances and make sure that she has a delivery without any complications because government hospital doesnot give special attention to every patient but look at what he did….he knows all the suffering she has been through all these months and he still only thought of his money and his wellbeing I really do not understand him…"

*Reached valli's maternal home*

Satyanarayan entered the house and was looking around the house valli's sister noticed his arrival and welcomed him. She came here to take care of her father and also send food to the people in the hospital as valli is need to be on strict diet to make sure that she recovers well from the delivery and pregnancy damage. She went on and called her father saying that satyanaryana is here and asked to him keep satyanarayana company. Valli's father upon hearing the news is shocked to the core as he thought his son-in-law might not have time to visit. He never expected him to pay him a visit . But given the current situation all he can do now is go and talk to his son-in-law that he deliberatly avoided until now.

Satyanarayna who heard his sister-in-law call his father-in-law to give him company was happy that he need not call him on his own and that his siter-in-law unknowingly helped him solve an issue.

He was waiting for his father-in-law and was ready to ask him all the questions that are running in his mind? While he was busy in his own thought his father-in-law came and sat beside and wished him. Satyanarayana came out of his thoughts upon hearing his father-in- law's voice and asked how his father in-law's health is as he was informed that his father-in-law was suffering from indigestion.

Valli's Father: How are you son?

Satyanarayana: I am fine uncle. How is your health?

Valli's Father: I am fine for now son nut my body is too weak to move around. Or else i would have been in the hospital along with my daughter and grandaughter.

Satyanaraya: I know uncle that you love your daughter so much and that you care for her but the only thing I don't understand is why is valli in a government hospital instead of a private one. I already mentioned it you that valli's health during this pregnancy is very fragile and that I don’t want to take any chances this time

Valli's father: I understand your pain son. But everything happened so fast that it did not strike to me that I promised to admit valli in a private hospital.

Satyanarayana: I understand uncle but how can you forget valli's condition during this pregnancy….

Valli's Father: I am sorry son…

Satynanaryana: it is not that I wanted your apology uncle . I just did not underatand how you were able to forget such an important matter. Whatever may have happened I hope that you take care of valli and my little one during the time they will be here.

Valli's Father: okay my son. I will make sure that she will be taken care of well

Satyanarayana: Thank you for understanding uncle..

Valli's maternal home

The days has been little un-eventful and quite without much of a hassle everything was so peaceful that it is very unsettling that things are going without any hinderance even after the arrival of the daughter-in- law of the house with her one year old boy. But things are going to change now, the uneventful quite days are going to turn into something that everyone in the house will not forget…

Valli's Mom:

Tommorow is the discharge of valli and we are not ready we have to welcome our youngest granddaughter. She will doted on by every one for sure but giuven our financial condition can he pay the hospital bills even if it is government hospital we have to buy medicines for valli right… I don’t know what this man might do given that daughter-in-law is alsi home it might look inapprpriate if a give a grand wlecome to my youngest granddaughter when I was not even at home when she came back fromher mother's house and also srinivas is also home woth hois nasty temper thingsd might turn bad if his wife felt bad. How should I over come this crisis….

When Valli's mom was completely engrossed in her thoughts suridu her sister-in-law(Wife of Valli's Father's Brother) called her bringing her out of her thoughts.

Suridu: What happened sister?

Valli's Mom: Nothing suridu, I was thinking about tommorow that's it.

Suridu: What's with tommorow to be so worried about valli is coming home safe and ound you shuld feel happy about it.

Valli's Mom: I am happy but now that devi is also here I don’t think we can welome the child with the love we want to give the baby

Suridu: don’t Worry sister…Devi is not the type to get jealous over something as trivial as this and also with the 0ne year old kid and srinu here I am sure she will not have suffieceint time to get jealous.

Valli's Mom: May be you are right about devi but it is not the same with srinu and you know that too. He will say that his wife is not given the value that should be given to her despite being the only daughter-in-law of the house.

Suridu: Don't worry sister noothing like that will happen. You know he was so happy when he heard that that he got another niece.

Valli's Mom: Whatever happens happens for a reason. Lets hope for the best and leave everything else for the god.

Suridu: right…That's the spirit. Now common wwe hae to take food far valli and sanjeev they might be hungry.

Valli's Mom: Right… I forgot…….

Both of them gets busy packing the lunch fot their daughter and son who are in the hospital and are hungry waitning for the food. But little did they know that the mood swings of valli are only worseing despite already giving birth.
