Levi’s POV

“Where’s Shara?” I asked when I entered the house.

Everyone shake their heads.

“Maybe she went somewhere else to play with anyone.” James’ boringly commented.

“Aissh! By the way what are you all doing?” I look around and they seemed to lax.

Again, no one answered me. These guys just shrugged.

“What’s the matter though?” Kil asked me.

Finally, there’s someone in this house who’s sensible enough to asked what’s going on.

“There has been a lot of victims these past few days. How many times I should tell you to avoid preying on humans?” I could not keep my calm. I know I should not be mad but its for our own safety.

“I have nothing to do about it,” said James. He turn his head back to the book he’s reading.

“Me either,” Cedric confirmed and even raise his both hands and shake them.

I look at Kil who’s now raising a brow.

“It must be your little sister. She knows nothing except causing such ruckus.” I look at James and thought he must be right.

But where I could find that brat?

“James--” I’m about to asked him somethings when he looked away.

“I told you, I don’t know anything. I just thought it must be her since she’s always playing around.” He coldly said.

James and Shara are on the same age. They used to be together most of the time but I’ve noticed that recently Shara is not home most of the time and James seemed irritated when talking about her.

As for Cedric, he’s younger than the rest of us or maybe not since we don’t know how old is Kil. Noone knows about Kil’s history. When we met, he’s already alone. Aside from the fact that he is also a vampire, we could not tell anything more about him.

We’re all born vampires. Our parents are vampires. They raised us to live just like ordinary humans. Though we’re used on feeding blood in a more decent way, sometimes we can’t deny the urges of sucking off blood from a living human.

Even as a vampires, there are still risks that we have to bear. Compared to other vampire races, we’re much weaker since we don’t fed on human blood. At least, not all the time.

Kil’s POV

Its been a few hours since Levi told us about the trouble caused by some stubborn vampires who can’t behave themselves and suck on human’s blood. He went oust to look for his sister, Shara.

Well I’m not the one to to tell though. I admit that I actually fed on human blood too but I don’t end up killing my victims.

I’m playing chess with Cedric when I felt a pang of pain in my ears. I could hear a very disgusting noise. Its so painful!

“Hey Kil! What’s wrong with you?” I tried to held my face up when Cedric asked me but I could not. I helplessly put my hands on my ears as the sound keeps on breaking my ear drums

“Ahhhhhhh!!!” I yelled in pain. Blood started to ooze out my ear and the noise is just getting louder.

“KIl? Kil!”

I could not hear anything they say. I could only see Cedric’s lips moving as if he’s telling me something.

I see James coming up as Cedric tried to pull me up.

A series of images shows up in my mind and it remind me of someone.

“S-save he-r.” I mumbled before I finally lose consciousness.

----few hours later

I woke up when I heard Cedric and Levi talking.

“We need to be certain first before doing anything else.” Cedric seriously said. They have not notice that I’m awake.

“You’re right. We should not be careless. I feel sorry about him.” Levi agreed. He realized I’m awake when he turn his head to my direction.

“I told you, you don’t have to feel sorry for me.” I feel annoyed by the idea that my friends think I’m pitiful because of my condition.

I’m an orphan with no family background. I hate thinking about it but that’s me. I’m no one.

I pursed my lips.

“I’m sorry, that’s not what I meant to say.” Levi tried to explain. I shake my head, there’s no sense talking about this now.

“It’s fine. Forget it.” I replied.

I lift my hand to touch my ear when Cedric speak.

“Kil, who is she?” I was confused for bit when I remember something important. I immediately pull myself up.

I need to check on her.

“Kil, wait! Where are you going?” I heard Levi asked but I don’t have much time to talk about it.

I didn’t waste my time.

Katherine’s POV

Ever since I woke up this morning, I could not move my body. I started to cry when I remembered what happened.

Did we do it? I move my head to my left side and my face turn pale on what I’m seeing. The used to be white sheets turned red.

I felt that there’s something missing but I could not point a finger on it. I waited for few more hours before I could finally move my whole body.

Though I’m still feeling weak, I tried to wash myself up and get changed. I’m not sure on how my clothes are still on me after what happened last night but I’m hoping that what happened were all just nightmare.

Fortunately, its Saturday and I don’t have to go to University. Besides, there’s no longer on going classes for graduating students. I’d have more time for myself after graduation.

I’m combing my hair when I felt a terrible pain drilling on my head. NO way! Will it be the same thing that happened to my nightmare I have last night?

I pursed my lips. This could not be real.

But as expected, everything went black.

- few hours later

I woke up for the second time today and I’m greeted by a familiar face. He smiled.

“How’s you sleep?” He asked.

Sleep? Tsk! How many times I fainted? I didn’t even sleep properly because of those nightmares.

“Did you have a sweet dream?” He added.

There’s something about this guy. Anyway why do guys keep on coming inside my room? I shake my head ‘no’. I have a hunch that these guys are not ordinary human.

I stare at the guy in front of me. He looked away after few seconds.

“Don’t look at me like that.” He said, coldly.

“I just wanted to check you.” He added and smiled again.

Check on me? I don’t even know him.

“W-what are you d-doing h-here?” I managed to asked. I can’t just stay silent forever. After what happened last night, I should be more careful.

“I’m checking on my property.” His voice became serious.

I was left dumbfounded.

He went closer and kiss me on my forehead.

“Be careful always, Katherine.” I heard him say before he vanish into thin air.

“I don’t know what’s going on now.”

Kil’s POV

She’s fine! I sigh in relief. I’m glad that she’s fine.

I didn’t go to her yet. I’ll take some time to look at her from afar, for now.

I need to go back and talk to Levi. I also have a lot of things to asked.

I’m about to leave when someone grabbed my arm.

“Was it you?” a guy with a tan skin asked. He’s obviously upset about something.

Is he a vampire too? I shake his hand off me.

I look at him blankly, trying to get into his mind.

“Leave her alone. She’smy property.” He sternly said.

“She?” I asked him. Is he referring to the same person? That woman?

“If you’re referring to her, then NO.FREAKING.WAY.”

He did not say anything. He glared at me and I glared back.

I saw him clenched his fist before his iris started to turn into a shade green.

A vampire with a pair of green eyes?

Since he’s about to pounce on me, I let my guard up as well. My eyes turn red as I gnash my fangs.

“This is not the right time. I’ll take her back when that time comes.” The guy said before disappearing in front of me.

“Teleportation?” I mumbled.

SHIT!

He pissed me good.

I need to go back now. I’ll go visit her again tonight. For now, I have to inquire about something to Levi and the others.

He should be home now after looking for Shara.

Levi’s POV

I went out to look for my sister but to no avail, I can’t find her. I’ve checked all the possible places where she could be at but she’s nowhere to find.

I went back to the house where we’re staying at and found a panicking Cedric and James.

“What’s the matter?” I asked as I walk towards them.

“Levi! Kil just fainted and his ear are bleeding!” He cried. Although he’s a vampire, he’s actually sensitive most of the time.

“Calm down Ced, where is he?” I asked as I pat his shoulder.

“He’s inside his room.” He answered and wipe off his tears.

He must be scared and thought that Kil might die.

I walk to Kil’s room and found him lying on his bed. His ears were bandage. It made me confused.

“How did he hurt his ears?” I asked again.

“He was playing Chess with Cedric when that happened.” James explained.

“I was in the kitchen, drinking wine,” he added.

I nod my head. If he’s playing Chess, there’s no way that he could hurt his ears.

“Well, if it helps you analyzed the situation, we wrap his ears since the bleeding won’t stop. It must be from the inside.” I look at Cedric who slumped himself on the couch.

“...and he said something before he got knocked out.” Cedric look at me seriously. I nod my head signaling him to continue.

“He said something like saving someone. A woman to be specific.”

I suddenly feel uneasy. Save someone? And its a woman? What exactly happened Kil?

As a vampire, we have different talents. The common fact about us is that we all need blood to live. As for talents and strength, it depends. Whether it was pass down from family generation aka genetically transmitted, it could also be acquired by one’s self.

“I’m going somewhere.” I went back to my senses when James spoke. He headed toward the door.

“Where are you going?” Cedric asked him.

He did not look back but answered, “I’ll look for Shara.”

I heave a sigh. He might be able to succeed on finding that bratty sister I got. He knows her well after all.

I look at Kil’s face. He looks bothered in his sleep. I took a seat on the other couch next to Cedric’s.

“I seriously don’t have any idea what happened either. When he mentioned about saving her, he did not say any names. Did he?” I started, trying to sort out the situation.

Cedric shake his head.

Would it be his memories? Kil do not remember much of his past. It must be someone related to him.

“It must be someone important to him. It will be a good thing if he recall his past.” I concluded. “We would be able to help him out if he remember something.”

“We need to be certain first before doing anything else.” Cedric suggested.

“You’re right. We should not be careless. I feel sorry about him.” I look back at Kil’s bed. He’s awake. Did he heard what we just talk about?

“I told you, you don’t have to feel sorry for me.” He said. Cedric look at me and then bowed his head.

“I’m sorry, that’s not what I meant to say.” I tried to explain but he shrug.

“It’s fine. Forget it,” he murmured

He touches his bandaged ears with a confuse look.

“Kil, who is she?” Cedric suddenly asked. He must be curious about it.

Kil’s facial expression changed from confused to worried. He immediately get up and run outside.

“Kil, wait! Where are you going?” I called him but he did not look back.

I look at Cedric who’s looking at me too.

“Maybe we should give him some time.” I said.

Katherine’s POV

I woke up when I felt something moving on my head. My brows furrowed when I saw this guy again.

Is he going to check on me again? I shake my thoughts. I noticed that whenever a guy at night came to me, this guy also show up the next day.

Are they the same person?

“Are you alright? He asked while still playing on my hair.

What am I supposed to respond? Should I say I’m fine? Fine after what happened last night? I’m to ashamed of what happened.

I could not help myself but cry. Yeah, am I supposed to cry every time? I could have done something! But I tried and still I was helpless. How am I supposed to face my future lover? I’m ruined! Wasted!

I glare at him. If he’s the same guy who did this to me last night, he should be responsible!

‘Seriously Katherine? You want to be with this unknown guy?’ My mind tells me.

I close my eyes and take a deep breath.

“What do you need?” I asked him.

disappeared into thin air the last time you came here? Answer me!”

He gently look at me. Hah! Just what the hell this guy want from me?

“You. I need you.” He answered and I didn’t expected that.

“I’m Shawn. I’ve been watching over you for a while. Why? Because I like you.” He added.

He likes me? Then why did he do that? If its not him then why he didn’t help me out?

Did he just watch while I’m being harassed? Or did he actually force his way on me?

“W-was it you?” I finally asked. “Last nigh, was it you?”

His expression changed. I could see anger on his eyes. What does it mean?

“I’m sorry, I was not able to protect you.” His voice trembled as his hold my hand.

“But I won’t let this happen again.” I could see determination on his face.

I bite my lips. I’m trying hard not to cry. I don’t want to! My life was just messed up.

“Shawn, what are you?”

This is the most stupid question I could asked but seeing him vanished in front of me that time, I knew he’s not human.

“I’m a vampire.”

Shawn’s POV

She looked surprised when I told her that I’m a vampire. I was indeed watching over her for long time. I was honest when I told her that I like her. I really like her. Not just because of her ability.

I need to taker her away from other vampires. And I’m willing to fight for her safety and for her love.

It was that Kil guy. He’s the first vampire who gets near her. If I was not too late!

I won’t let anyone know about her special ability. I won’t let Kil touch her again.

No one should know about her real identity.

I cupped her face and look at her with all the sincerity I have.

“Katherine, I know about your real identity. I’ll help you escape danger if you’re willing to come with me.”

It will be more easier to protect her is she’s beside me.

“W-what do you know about my identity?” She asked, her eyes filled with hope. She must have known that the parents she grew up with are her adoptive parents.

“How can I trust you?” I feel a pang of pain on my chest when she asked that.

I know its hard for her to trust anyone after what happened.

I look straight to her eyes, “ Trust me. I will protect you no matter what.”

I’m willing to sacrifice everything just to keep you safe, Katherine.

“Ill go with you, but you have to tell me everything you know about me.” I almost kiss her when I heard her decision. But I should not. I want her to trust me, and I need to earn her trust. I have to show my respect at the same time.

“I won’t disappoint you Katherine,” I swear.

Katherine’s POV

As what Shawn suggested, I went with him. Why? Because I want to trust him. I’m afraid to take a risk but I need to know who am I. Besides, I had a vision before. Whether I come along with him or not, he will still drag me with him. I won’t be a match to him. I should better go while he’s still nice. He also said he likes me. I usually don’t get these stuffs to my head but what can I do? There’s a guy visiting me at night, taking control over my body and forcing his self on me then another guy who said he’s a vampire and claims that he likes me and will protect me no matter what. I would definitely choose the later.

My visions aren’t detailed but they’re all connected to the events of my life.

He’s not the guy who came to my place that night. If its not him, then who is it?

I don’t have any friends. I didn’t grow up with my parents either. The house where I’m staying at is own by my adoptive parents. They’re going to and fro most of the time. I knew that they’re not my biological parents. They treat me as their own, gives me everything I need. I could not wish more, but at the back of my mind, I want to know why my parents leave me. I want to find out what happened.

I heave a sigh. Its been few days since I went with Shawn. He brought me to a small yet fancy house in the middle of a forest. He’s not living with me but he always check on me from time to time.

I don’t have those terrifying nightmares as well when i stayed on this house. He also told me about my real identity.

Kiera.

I’m daughter of a Kiera. A human-vampire hybrid. Kiera’s are the vampire hunters who were created to fight against the vampires. They’re all woman with beautiful faces and undeniable strength.

Although Kiera’s are hybrids and not pure vampires, it was said that they’re stronger than vampires. In exchange of this superhuman strength, Kiera are doom to be heartless. They’re not allowed to feel anything. They’re only fated to kill vampires and protect humans. At the end, if they overused their power, once they reached their limit, they’re going to end up as monsters. They’re neither human nor vampire.

Unfortunately, humans does not acknowledge the Kieras. After saving them from vampires, they even labeled them as Witches.

They’re not fated to fall in love. That’s the grave mistake of the woman who gave birth to me.

As for my father, he’s a pure vampire. It’s cliche that they’re supposed to to mortal enemies but they end up falling in love and having me. Or was it by accident? I could not help myself but think that maybe I was born by mistake.

So I’m not an ordinary human then. My mother is a warrior and my father is a vampire but I don’t have any of their ability.I also think its better than way. I want to live a normal life.

But its not that simple. Since I’m not just a human, not a vampire either nor a Kiera, my blood smells differently than the rest. Shawn said that as a vampire, the scent coming from my blood is very hard to resist. He said that it might taste differently as well. Attracting other vampires when it gets exposed.

Aside from the werewolves, Kiera’s are Vampires’ mortal enemy. In history of vampires and kiera’s war, when a vampire beats a kiera, they’ll suck their blood dry that not even a single drop is wasted. They don’t do it because of hatred but the bliss caused by the sweetest scent and flavor of kiera’s blood.

I open the window from my room to enjoy the fresh air. Its almost 1 pm in the afternoon but the sun is not clearly visible because of the large trees on this forest. I’m expecting Shawn to come back around this hour. I roam my eyes outside. I feel thrilled when I spotted a bush of wild roses. I should pick some and put them in a vase.

My thoughts were interrupted when a familiar feeling creeps inside me. I suddenly feel scared. I only feel like this whenever that person is around. I slowly close the window and went on my bed.

My heartbeat started to run wild again. I press my palm on my chest hoping that it will calm down.

I remember that the door might be unlocked. I hurriedly get off the bed to the door. My knees won’t stop shaking.

I’m so scared and I’m hoping that Shawn will arrive before anything else happen.

He should be here by now. What’s taking him so long?

Maybe it’s Shawn playing tricks on me but he won’t do that. I keep on fooling myself but I don’t want to think of the most accurate possibility.

It must be that guy!

“No, he should not be here.” I said, trembling.

I reached the door. It’s not lock! Gosh!, I’m glad I’ve checked it or else…

I was caught off guard when a pair of strong arms wrapped me from the back.

“Aaaah!” I yelled in surprised.

I feel a familiar sensation when he nibble on my ear.

His hands move to my chest and he pull me closer to his body.

He stop nibbling and leave small kisses on my earlobes. My body becomes hot and I know its this feeling again. When I felt his lips moving down to my neck, I had a guess of what he’s going to do next.

“S-stop!” I managed to say loudly.

“D-don’t p-please don’t. L-let me go,p-please.” I tried to be calm as possible but I can’t. My voice just keep on breaking whenever I utter a word.

I don’t know ho to escape. What should I do? He’s here again. He found me!

“I’ve been looking for you for along time.” I heard him say. It’s his voice. There’s no doubt. It’s him.

“Why did you leave me?” He sounded sad when he asked that. But that’s not important, I should get away from him. I should run if I could. I need to escape from his grasp!

“I--I don’t k-know -y-you bu-but we c-can t-talk a-about thi--this r-right? P-please let m-me go.” I begged.

I didn’t hear any response. I could only hear my own heartbeat, its beating so fast. I started to feel drowsy too. Was it his doing? If it is then.

I’m screwed.

Shawn’s POV

I clenched my fists when I saw the bloody scene in front of me. I’ve been feeling anxious since this morning so I hurriedly finished some tasks to check on Katherine.

But never in my life did I ever wished to see this kind of scene.

Her hands and feet were tied while she’s being pinned on the bed. I tried to avoid my eyes when I realized that she’s also *****. While the man on top of her seems to enjoy his time sucking her blood. He could kill her any minute if he won’t stop.

“STOP IT!” I yelled and charge on him.

I forcefully pull him up and give him a blow on his face. He did not anticipate it so he was not able to dodge my fist. I did waste no time, I kicked his leg. I’m still not satisfied, I pull him up again and choke him. My nails grew few inches and I used them to make him bleed.

I held him on the air before throwing him away. He may regenerate soon but I have to untie and dress this poor lady first.

“Shawn,’ she softly murmured.

I pursed my lips. I failed to protect her again.

Its making me furious. I tried to control myself while facing Katherine. Her body won’t stop trembling. I pick up the blanket that was thrown on the floor to cover her.

I wrap my arms around her while mumbling ‘ I’m sorry.’

She silently cry on my embrace.

On my peripheral view, I saw a figure standing behind. I immediately leap few meters away. I won’t let him touch Katherine again or I’ll despise my self.

He grits his teeth while glaring at me. I’m contemplating whether to run or to fight when he swiftly leaped towards us. I jumped over the window leading him outside to the wild forest.

I have to run for now considering Katherine’s condition. At least, I have to make sure that she’s safe before fighting him.

He keep on charging like a wild boar and I have to keep up with his speed to dodge. He honestly have a greater speed ability than me. If he caught us by chance, I doubt if I would be able to fight on par with him.

“Don’t bother her anymore. She’s not someone you should mess with!” I shouted as I keep on dodging his attack.

Katherine is holding on my shirt tightly while closing her eyes.

“Who are you to tell me what to do? I get what I want and I want her!” He shouted back and increases his speed.

“Shit!” I cursed under my breath when he made it ahead of us. Aside from his speed, his agility is not bad.

Its true that his abilities are far better than the rest. But who would have thought that this guy is alive? I wave my thoughts away and turn around to an opposite direction.

He might be faster and stronger but I knew him since he was born. I know how he handle things following his instincts. After all, he’s my little brother.

Flashback

-several decades ago-

Its the night when the strongest vampire killer, Kiera Natasha- which is also known as the golden witch and the the vampire prince, Seth turn the world upside down. Those two are the strongest in the history of vampires and kiera. Nobody knows the reason of their burning hatred to each other. It is given that vampires and kiera are mortal enemy but other than that, they seemed to fight over something else.

It was a remarkable night when the vampire royals and the high ranking kiera even tried to stop the two from fighting. Unfortunately, no one can even lay a finger on these two, causing a huge numbers of casualties in both vampires and kiera.

They fought for several days nonstop, wrecking the vampire castle, turning everything into chaos.

I was told by my father to ran away that night. Father was part of the vampire royal and had to fight.

I ran to the south with my little brother. With my injuries, I had to carry his unconscious body. He was sick for months and no one can help him recover but we were told that he’s still alive.

It was few days later while we were camping in the midst of the forest when a man in a cloak took him away. I was useless then since he effortlessly took my brother in front of me.

Instead of pursuing the southern part, I went back to the castle and found out that the war was over. Everything was destroyed. Witness’ claims that it was a victory for the vampires since most of the kiera were killed. But no one knows where the vampire prince and the golden witch had gone to. The battle ended with a blast and a blinding light. It was few days later when the survivors woke up and found that the fight between the two races ended. Nobody could exactly tell what happened as the two who caused the war were nowhere to be found.

My father survived and the other vampire royal family as well. They rebuild the castle and send orders for the other vampires to follow the sacred vows. Since the vampire prince was gone, not everyone took the order seriously. Some clan rebelled against the vampire royal. This cause havoc within the vampire races, until the new prince is found, this mess won’t be resolved.

Kil was never found since then. Until recently, when father found some clues about the remnant of the vampire prince- having a daughter with the golden witch, I was assigned to take care of that said daughter, Katherine. Then I found my brother preying on her. As to what happened after he was abducted, I have no idea yet. I was ordered not to tell him the truth about his identity until we find out who’s behind his abduction.

 End of flashback

I’m older than him so it will hurt my pride being defeated. I increased my speed and keep on making turns to avoid his sight. Its a also a good thing that the trees are huge in this forest.

Its just a matter of time until I lost him.

He’s stubborn and he won’t easily give up but I can’t let him have the ace. Katherine might be the key to eliminate the threat so I must protect her. Of course, I have my personal reasons too.

I heave a sigh when I reached the open. I’m not surprised to be back at the house where we just came from. I wanted to blame my poor sense of direction but I rather stay cool than admitting that I’m stupid.

“Shawn? Why are we back?” Katherine asked when she noticed that we’re back to the house.

“It’s okay. You have to get dress properly for now.” I told her and smile gently. I want her to feel safe with me.

“Don’t worry. I won’t let him hurt you again.” I added.

I walk inside the house and put her down the coach.

“Stay here, I’ll prepare your bath,” she nodded.

Since Kil is indeed my brother I think I know to control him. I should give it a shot.

After preparing a warm bath for Katherine, I look for her change of clothes.

“Maybe its better if she could choose what she wanted to wear.” I said to myself, not knowing what exactly type of clothes she needs.

“AAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!”

I hurriedly went back to living room when I heard a loud scream.

“Katherine!” I called her. It was Kil again. He followed us back here.

He’s just standing at the door and glaring at her. She must be traumatized.

“Calm down!” He yelled, raising his both hands.

I walk closer to Katherine, not taking my eyes off him in case he try to do something.

“If you try to do something again, I won’t spare you,”I warned him.

“I won’t. Just let me stay with her,” he said calmly.

What does this brat wants now?

I shake my head and walk towards him. I grin before reaching out for his neck to bite him.

He was so shocked that he was not able to move.

I just planted some poison on his body. Its possible since I have that ability. I can transmit poison through biting the target, it comes with a restriction. Anyone who does not follow the restriction will suffer such terrible pain. This restriction will only break once the transmitter permits it or if the target has the same ability and if its in greater level.

This is not an ability that any vampire could get. It has something to do with the secrets of the vampire royal.

“W-what did you do?” Katherine asked, confused.

“Hmm, don’t worry. He won’t be able to hurt you again,” I smiled and she just look at me.

I let go of Kil and pat her head. She did not say anything. I sigh, I need her to trust me so I should tell her.

After a brief explanation, Katherine went to bath herself.

I remember that I have to do something important so I have to leave.

I waited until she’s done to bid good bye.

“Shawn,” I raise my head. She’s done with her bath, she also changed her clothes.

“Do you need anything?” I asked, gesturing her to have a seat.

“Uh, I need to stay away from him.” She said looking at the unconscious man on the floor.

Sigh.

“He won’t hurt you nor force you to do anything again. In fact, if I’m not here he could protect you.” I know that its too much for her to stay with this man but I rather have him on our side than being his enemy.

“He won’t force me?” She whispered.

I get up from my seat and kneel in front of her. I cupped her face and look ta her in the eyes. Her eyes are enchanting and I almost forgot, I look away.

“I understand what you feel. But if we can get him in our side, it will be better than fighting him. the poison should work by now. Once he’s awake, he won’t dare to hurt you.” She smiled hearing what I said.

“Hmm.”

I was caught off guard for a bit. It must be just my imagination. I’m thinking too much.

Well, Kil is still unconscious. I’m quite confident with my ability so he could be her guardian for now.

I’ll leave after he’s up. After all, I need to make sure that the restriction works on him before leaving Katherine.

Someone’s POV

“Sir, we found the whereabouts of the woman you’re looking for.” I turn my head to face my assistant. If what he is is true then its a good news.
