The Devil's Kiss
Chapter 1 — Introduction
author sigma
This chat story is a Halloween edition, but it doesn't contain any spooky stuff😓 still I hope you all enjoy!
author sigma
Let's begin with introduction.
author sigma
Named Olivia Hudson, 28 years old and is one of the youngest senior lawyer ever. Why? Because she's too smart that she graduated early.
author sigma
Appearance: Dark brown hair, gray eyes, pale skin, 5’9”, always composed, and never flustered.
author sigma
Personality: Sharp, calm, and calculating. She doesn’t believe in right or wrong, only victory.
Power fascinates her and love bores her.
author sigma
She had won around 39 cases out of 42 within three years, which is very impressive. But unfortunately, she has made too much enemy.
author sigma
People think she wins because she’s smart (indeed she is). But insiders know the truth, she wins because she plays dirtier than anyone else.
author sigma
Other than that, she is called “The Lawyer of The Damned”
author sigma
Because she doesn't care who her clients are, she only cares about winning.
author sigma
She’s not literally defending demons, but the DAMNED represent the worst of humanity, people who’ve already sold their souls for power, greed, or pleasure.
author sigma
She built her reputation by taking on the kind of clients no one else dared to defend: murderers, crime lords, corrupt CEOs, politicians whose scandals could destroy entire parties etc.
author sigma
And she’s the one who stands beside them, helping them walk free again.
author sigma
Next our hero…
author sigma
Name given Jonathan Duncan, 34 years old, and is the CEO of Duncan Industries (multi-sector conglomerate)
author sigma
Personality: Dangerously charismatic, confident, calculating, manipulative and patiently cruel.
author sigma
Appearance: Tall, around 6’4”, broad-shouldered, muscular, dark blue-haired, with sharp black eyes that miss nothing.
author sigma
He never raises his voice, never loses control (rarely), and never shows his cards until he’s already won.
author sigma
His presence commands silence; people listen not out of respect, but out of fear of what he knows.
author sigma
He collects people the way others collect art: useful, beautiful, and disposable.
author sigma
His nickname is “The Devil”, because he doesn’t destroy people with violence(he actually did if he got times), he makes them destroy themselves.
author sigma
Jonathan doesn’t get his hands dirty, not directly. That’s what makes him so terrifying.
author sigma
Everything he does is perfectly legal on paper, but morally rotten underneath.
author sigma
Jonathan Duncan is one of the world’s youngest billionaires, worth an estimated $48.7 billion, though unofficially, it’s far more.
author sigma
Apart from that, he is dangerously magnetic.
author sigma
Women flirt with him constantly; journalists, socialites, lawyers, even married women from his own board of directors.
author sigma
He never encourages it outright, but he never rejects it either. He lets them hope.
Chapter 2
The courtroom was packed. Not a single seat empty.
Even the air felt tight, heavy with curiosity, fear, and fascination. Reporters filled the back rows, pens ready, cameras forbidden but hidden anyway.
At the center of it all, sitting at the defense table with her legs crossed and her eyes fixed forward, was Olivia Hudson.
The youngest defense lawyer in the city. The woman who never lost. The one they whispered about like she was a myth.
“That’s her,” someone murmured.
“The Lawyer of the Damned.”
Olivia pretended not to hear, though she always did.
She could feel their eyes crawling over her, curiosity, disgust, admiration, all tangled together.
She adjusted the sleeve of her black suit and glanced at her client; a man accused of corporate fraud and three counts of bribery. He looked nervous. She did not
The prosecutor was still talking, waving papers, voice shaking with emotion. Olivia didn’t even look at him. She just waited patiently.
When the judge finally turned to her and said, “Miss Hudson, your turn,” she rose.
The sound of her heels echoed through the silence, sharp and deliberate.
She didn’t raise her voice at all. She didn’t need to. Every word carried like a strike.
Olivia Hudson
The prosecution wants you to believe my client is a monster.
She began, walking toward the jury.
Olivia Hudson
But the only monster in this courtroom… is assumption.
A few jurors shifted uncomfortably. She smiled, a slow, controlled smile that never reached her eyes.
She spoke for twenty minutes. No notes. No hesitation. Every argument cut cleanly, every word wrapped in reason and quiet venom.
By the time she sat back down, the prosecutor’s confidence had already begun to crumble.
The trial continues until the judge decided the winner.
The judge dismissed the court for the day. Reporters rushed out first. Whispers followed her as she gathered her papers.
Olivia pushed open the heavy courtroom doors. Flashlights exploded instantly.
Reporters interview her all kind of question, too much, but she kept walking, calm, and unbothered.
Across the street, a Mercedes-Benz S-Class idled quietly by the curb.
Inside, a man sat in the back seat, the city lights flickering across his face.
A faint smirk curved his lips as he watched her through the glass.
The kind of watching that wasn’t curiosity.
"Olivia Hudson. The lawyer who doesn't lose.”
