Was Our Love Pure?

Chapter 1: The Break Up

Esther Azlia, a female in her early twenties, and her boyfriend, Elton Vance, who was around her age. They were both old classmates during high school, always good friends back then. They were such the high school sweethearts

They held hands, taking a stroll in the silent park. "Esther, I think it's time we simply end things here" A male figure stood tall, his cold eyes seemingly lacking emotion, his tone icy and his dark hair framed his handsome face perfectly. The shorter female figure positioned in front of him, her emerald eyes going wide, she opened her mouth, about to say something, but the words came out in a desperate tone "W-What?! Wait, what did I do wrong?! I-... Please, Elton! You're the only one I have..." She spoke with such sincerity, but the male didn't show any regret or anything, his eye twitched in frustration, absolutely annoyed as he seperated their fingers, irritation written on his face.

"Esther." The male sneered, staring at her with an unsympathetic gaze, he continued speaking with the same harsh tone "Just accept it" He felt displeased by her reaction as he walked past her, purposely bumping his shoulder into hers, making her body turn to the side as she watched the man she once loved now abandoning her, in the middle of autumn. She stood alone in the quiet park, the wind blowing through her direction, making her sliky brown hair flowing along with the wind, a bunch of leaves fell beneath her. Her eyes showed mixed emotions of sadness and betrayal. She couldn't describe how upset she felt. Her shoulders started to tremble as she fell onto both of her knees, with small drops of tears staining the ground. Her slender arms consciously wrapped around herself, letting out small gasps, she didn't want to accept everything, but she had to.

"E-Elton... I-I'm sorry..." She sobbed as her grip tightens, clenching her own clothes when her mind suddenly recalled the memories she had with him. How he had saved her from a group of bullies, how they started to become friends after, how they developed feelings for each other, how they have gotten closer, how they started dating after graduation and then this. A sudden break up while walking in a park, after only 2 years of dating, she wondered if it was because she was just clingy or maybe her personality, she thought it was her appearance or probably how she treated people, yet it like there wasn't a reason to fall out of love.

"Was he using me for his own desires? Did he seriously play with my feelings? Am I just not good?" She thought to herself as continued to helplessly cry, she couldn't understand what was wrong, what she did wrong, what went wrong. After a while, she calmed down and slowly stood up, sitting on a nearby bench, feeling angry but mostly numb as she pondered in her thoughts.

"If you loved me, would you leave me that easily?"

Chapter 2: Our first interaction

Esther looked down, still sitting on the bench. When suddenly, a man, who seemed to be Esther's age, came up to her and sat beside her. "Are you alright? I saw you on the floor earlier, I was worried about you" He spoke with a concerned and gentle tone, his voice barely above a whisper as Esther looked to her side, her teary eyes meeting his "I'm... Alright" she muttered, turning her head away from him. "Thanks for asking, stranger" she fidgeted with her fingers as the man chuckled slightly, he was very friendly to her "Of course! I can't handle seeing people so sad, it makes me sad too! How about we become friends? Maybe I'll cheer you up better?" He smiled, Esther stared at him before nodding "Sure, I'm Esther Azlia" She introduced herself

"Clyde Shea! Add me on Instagram?" He happily shared, pulling out his phone and tapping on the screen as Esther voiced out her username, they exchange users and went on a walk together. The man, who is known as Clyde, chatted with Esther for a bit, stopping to get ice cream but Esther? She felt like this was too sudden. Elton broke up and then instantly a stranger befriend her, she felt like this was planned, maybe Elton felt bad leaving her, or he just wanted her to move on faster? She couldn't explain it, but she just hoped it was nothing negative. An hour has passed, Esther felt better because of Clyde's help, she was thankful for it and wanted to pay him back, but Clyde simply declined her offer. "Oh no, it's okay! Just appreciate it!" He refused, nervously sratching his head as Esther chuckled "I will be sad if you don't let me pay you" She teased and Clyde shook his head, finally agreeing to take the money before waving his hand and leaving, shouting "See you later! And thank you!" as he left. Esther was alone again, but she felt happy, staring at the chocolate bar that he had bought for her, remembering how he had said that she looked like she could use something sweet. As she unwrapped the seal and taking a bite from it, Esther couldn't help but glance at Clyde's fading figure.

"Thank you, Clyde" she muttered, the ends of her lips twitched slightly, she didn't realize how genuine her smile was until a gust of wind blew at her, she immediately shook her head, taking another bite of the chocolate as she walked in a direction, finally going home after everything that had happened today. She flops onto her bed, pulling out her phone and seeing a few notifications from Instagram, she chuckled, knowing it was Clyde texting her. They became great friends after that, Esther was grateful to be friends with Clyde because he was a very kind and sweet man, she couldn't help but smile whenever he texts her, it would always be jokes or mellow greetings

Sorry

"Was Our Love Pure" was originally a novel about broken relationships, betrayal, etc. The novel was originally made for fun, but I (The author) decided to make it an example of how some people can't move on from their exes. The male lead being related to the minor antagonist was never necessary but it was the only way I could think of a scene where the antagonist and female protagonist meet again with a crazy twist.

NOVEL SUMMARY

Esther Azlia, a 20-year-old woman, she's recently dumped by her boyfriend, Elton Vance. She goes through depression, but eventually meets a man named Clyde Shea who helped her heal from depression. As they grew closer and started dating, Clyde invites Esther to his family gathering, ready to introduce his girlfriend to his family. But, that's where disaster struck when Esther once again met her ex boyfriend with Clyde's sister, Lenora Shea. Esther feels heartbroken, not just because of Elton, but because she never actually moved on. She was secretly mourning the loss of her relationship with Elton during her times with Clyde. She tries to get Elton back, but Elton simply wanted to stay away from Esther. She gives up afterwards, falling into the depths of sadness while Clyde was severely disappointed in her for chasing other men while having him He felt embarrassed, humiliated and mocked. But he still tried to claim Esther back, after desperate attempts. She finally agreed to be with him and only him, officially moving on from her ex.But, once again. Something bad happens and a cliff hanger is placed as the ending.

The novel name was originally supposed to be "The true love" because I think it shows how the classical tropes where the male lead becomes the second lead and the antagonist being the main male lead isn't always true, and how it's a love story with twists.

I changed it to "Was our love pure?" Because love isn't always pure, is it?

Our first interaction: (Chapter 1)

Clyde buys Esther a snack (like a chocolate bar or something)

Our last interaction: (Chapter?)

Clyde buys Esther a snack (The same snack that he gave in the first interaction) and leaves

"You look like you could use something sweet"

was implied to have two meanings:

Eat something sweet (E.g Chocolate bar)

Use someone who's sweet (Clyde)

The cliffhanger:

Clyde leaves Esther, not breaking up just leaving her with his last words being "You're using me, aren't you?" From last night and the novel ends right there.

Because I want to show despite the loyalty, you can't handle the betrayal for too long. No matter how hard you try, you'll still feel it

I wanted to put an author note in the novel:

"She's a protagonist,

not a heroine."

Because heroines are supposed to be hero's, protagonists are either bad, average or good people that we are viewing from.

The cover was supposed to symbolize emptiness, grief, guilt and loss + love, passion and danger. The withered roses were meant to imply "Love that once bloomed has decayed".

I know I created 2 chapters, but I just think I can't continue making more chapters. I'm suffering with depression and because of that, I lack motivation which forces me to write less and have no passion.

I'm sorry, maybe in another time I'll continue this novel, but it's considered forever incomplete
