Fake Marriage: A Love That Kills
Chapter 1- Beginning
Iris walked inside the dimly lit living room while holding two cups of hot coffee in each hand. He gulped as he got closer to his uncle and aunty, who were sitting on the couch, watching television.
Iris placed the two cups of coffee on the old, creaky table without uttering a word. His uncle's gaze settled on the coffee, his expression twisting in disgust, and anger. Iris knew that look and he was scared about what was coming after.
Mike Hilton (MC uncle)
(stares at him) Iris?

(clears his throat softly) Y... yes, Uncle?
Mike Hilton (MC uncle)
(crooking his finger) Come closer
Iris hesitantly took a step forward. His eyes were filled with fear and anxiousness as he tried not to look at his uncle.
Mike Hilton (MC uncle)

(jolts)

(gives him his left hand)
Mike grabbed Iris's arm roughly, his fingers digging deep into his skin. He yanked him closer. Iris didn't have time to react before he felt a burning sensation on his left wrist, making him scream in agony.
Iris tried to jerk his arm back, but Mike's grip was like a vice. The sound of the coffee pouring over his wrist seemed to echo through the small room followed by Iris's sharp screams.

Iris ran to the bathroom and held his burnt arm under cold water. He calmed down, feeling the icy temperature offering a slight reprieve from the throbbing pain.
His mind was still racing from the traumatic experience he went through. Warm, salty tears were flowing down his pink cheeks.
The pain on his wrist was horrendous, but it couldn't compare to the pain he felt in his heart. He couldn't get used to his piblings abuse, and it broke him emotionally and mentally.
After wrapping his wound in a t-shirt, he went to his room and laid down on the dirty, old mattress and soon drifted off to sleep.

I slowly woke up, hearing a familiar voice talking from the kitchen. It's neither uncle or anuty but a friend of theirs. I've never met nor seen him before, but I know he has been coming here for about 3 months now.
The walls were thin enough to hear them talking- talking about me. I got up from the mattress and tried to listen in on their conversation.

We're exhausted

That boy is just a pain in the neck!

I went back to my mattress and sat down, feeling hopeless. I should've gotten used to this treatment by now, but somehow I haven't.
There's still a bit of hope left in me, but it's a constant battle to keep it alive. Part of me screams that I'm foolish to hold on, that I deserve better. But another part whispers that maybe, just maybe things are gonna change.
I hope uncle and aunty will find it in their hearts to love me and treat me like their own child.

Chapter 2
A man walked into his expensive, elegantly furnished office, stripping off his blazer and tie. He groaned softly, feeling the tension melt from his shoulders as he allowed himself to relax, sinking into the comfort he'd been craving all day.
He sank into the plush cushions of his light grey couch and closed his eyes as he's breathing slowed. For a slight moment, he felt a sense of calm wash over him. But the serenity was short-lived when he heard a knock on his office door.

After Dylan left the office, Lorenzo got up- or more like dragged himself to his feet.
It's been quite some time since he paid his family a visit and he was not primed for the lecture he was going to receive once he arrived at the Allistor mansion.
I stepped inside the large mansion, the familiar sent of my father's cologne filling my lungs. It's oddly quiet today- but not the peaceful kind of quietness, it's the "something is wrong" kind of quiet.
I walked farther inside, wiping my sweaty palms on the sides of my trousers. As I got closer to the sitting room, I could hear someone sobbing softly.
My heart rate increased and my anticipation grew. I entered inside the sitting room. My mom, dad, and younger brother were all cuddled up on the sofa. I cleared my dry throat, and everyone's eyes turned to me.

My eyes widened in shock and disbelief. I stared at her, maybe waiting for her to tell me that it's all a dumb joke, but no. Tears are falling down her face and her mascara is smudged all around her almond-shaped eyes
I still don't know how to react as I felt someone hug me gently. It's Austin, my younger brother

Hearing those words, Austin's sobs became louder, his petite body shaking with each gasp he took as Lorenzo held him tighter while stroking his hair.
Lorenzo looked at his mother in pure disbelief then his gaze slowly shifted to his father.

The room fall silent, only the cries of Austin could be heard. It was a heartbreaking moment for the family. Carl's eyes were welling up with tears, but he held back. He held back all the pain, hurt and sadness he wanted to let out.
