Just Say I Love You
part 1
Rainy Evening | Middle of the Road]
[Narration]
The heavy raindrops are drenching the girl’s body.
Her thin kurti clings to her skin, but she doesn’t care.
Sitting right in the middle of the street, hands over her face —
she’s crying silently, endlessly.
But maybe… maybe that silent crying becomes too much for the boy standing before her.
Suddenly—he grabs her wrist tightly and jerks her up to her feet.
UJAAN
“Shut up! Not another word!”
UJAAN
“Don’t you have an ounce of shame, Ruhani?”
“You’re crying for that so-called boyfriend of yours—the one who’s out there flirting around with another girl!”
Rain runs down his face; his white shirt clings to his body.
Wet hair falls on his forehead, he pushes it back with a hand.
His eyes — bloodshot with rage.
Brows furrowed. Jaw clenched.
Every inch of him radiates fire — fury.
RUHANI(FL)
“Then why did he pretend to love me? Why did he make promises he never meant?”😭
UJAAN
I said shut up! Don’t say his name again!”
RUHANI(FL)
“But I love him, bhaiya…”
The word “love” barely leaves her lips—
when a sharp slap lands on her cheek.
She stumbles sideways, her face stinging.
Before she can even react—
another slap hits her other cheek.
She stumbles sideways, her face stinging.
Before she can even react—
another slap hits her other cheek.
UJAAN
You’ve grown too bold, haven’t you? Saying that word in front of me?”
“You fell in love—and now you dare say it out loud?!”
“Do you even feel shame anymore?!”
“Maybe ma’s love spoiled you too much!”
Ruhani stands frozen.
It’s the first time anyone’s ever hit her.
Her calm, calculative cousin—
has turned into someone she can’t recognize.
Her heart begins to race in fear.
Why is he here?
What if he tells her aunt?
If Aunt Hamida finds out—
her dignity, her peace—everything will be gone!
----Flashback-----
She came there for a small errand—
but what she saw shattered her world.
Her boyfriend, Nahid, hand in hand with another girl.
When she confronted him—
the cruel truth came out.
Nahid already had a fiancée.
And everything he did with Ruhani—
was revenge.
Cold, calculated revenge.
[Narration]
Years ago, Ruhani had slapped a boy named Naim in public
for constantly harassing her with love letters and unwanted attention.
That boy’s elder brother was—Nahid.
And he decided to make her pay.
He entered her life softly, tenderly—
sweet words, kind gestures, patient love.
A love story built on lies.
And Ruhani—believed it all.
Later That Night | At Home]
[Narration]
Her fear comes true.
Ujan tells Aunt Hamida everything.
Hamida scolds her harshly.
Ruhani doesn’t defend herself.
She just listens—because deep down,
she knows she deserves it.
She was raised with love, protected from pain—
and yet she made a mistake.
A terrible one.
Backstory]
After her mother passed away, her father lost himself in alcohol and neglect.
Her elder sister got married, leaving little Ruhani alone.
Then Aunt Hamida took her in—
raised her like her own daughter.
Hamida’s three sons—Ujan being the middle one—
treated Ruhani like their little sister.
And today, that same aunt—
cried because of her.
Ruhani sits alone in her room, restless.
She can’t bear the thought of Hamida’s tears.
She must apologize.
Hallway | Next Morning]
As Ruhani heads toward Hamida’s room,
she crosses paths with Ujan.
He’s dressed neatly—
probably going out with friends.
Ruhani glares, mutters under her breath—
“All this happened because of you.”
“What was the need to tell khala everything?”
“She would’ve known I’d never go back to that jerk!”
“You slapped me and complained—traitor!”
She sticks her tongue out
Aunt’s Room]
Ruhani peeks inside—
Hamida is sitting on the bed, stitching a quilt.
She walks in quietly and stands there.
Hamida doesn’t look up.
Ruhani’s heart cracks.
Her khala had never ignored her before.
RUHANI(FL)
(softly): “Khala…?”
Ujaan's Maa
(coldly): “Go back to your room. I don’t want to hear anything.”
Ruhani breaks down.
Her khala has never spoken like this to her—
never turned her face away.
Suddenly, she drops to her knees,
grabs Hamida’s feet, sobbing—
RUHANI(FL)
“Please forgive me, khala! I’ll never make this mistake again!
I swear, it was the first and last time.
Please, just forgive me once.”
Hamida startles at the touch
Ujaan's Maa
“Let go, Ruhani! Do you even know how hurt I am?
I raised you like my own daughter!
I trusted you completely—how could you do this?”
RUHANI(FL)
“I didn’t understand, khala. I was foolish.
Please, forgive me this one time!
I swear on my life, I’ll never do it again.”
Ujaan's Maa
“Let go of my feet, Ruhani.”
RUHANI(FL)
“Not until you forgive me.”
Ujaan's Maa
(sighing):
“Alright… I forgive you. Now let go.”
RUHANI(FL)
(sniffles):
“Really? You mean it?”
Ujaan's Maa
“Yes, I mean it.”
RUHANI(FL)
(smiling through tears):
“Then smile for me, khala.”
Hamida can’t help but laugh softly.
She pulls Ruhani up into a warm embrace.
Ujaan's Maa
“Don’t ever do this again, my child.
These boys—none of them are worth your tears.
Ujan told me what kind of person he was.
If something had happened to you,
I wouldn’t have survived it, my dear.
You’re the last piece of your mother I have.”
Ruhani buries her face into Hamida’s chest, whispering—
RUHANI(FL)
“Never again, khala. I promise.”
