Aarya Sharma had stopped believing in miracles a long time ago.
She stood barefoot on the cold rooftop of her family’s mansion — the same place where she once used to chase butterflies as a child. The moonlight brushed against her tear-streaked cheeks, making her bruises painfully visible. Every breath she took trembled with memories she wished she could erase.
Her mother’s voice still rang in her ears:
> “You are nothing but a burden.”
Her father’s disgust followed:
> “We should have never had a second daughter.”
And her brother…
Her nightmares wore his face.
Aarya clutched her arms around herself, trying to hold her cracking heart together. Why did life give her a family… just to break her?
Behind her, loud music and laughter spilled from the house. They were celebrating — celebrating her engagement to the man she loved since childhood, Rishabh Mehta. She had always believed he was her safe place. Her future.
But tonight, she had learned the truth.
He didn’t love her.
He never did.
She had overheard them — Rishabh and her brother — laughing about how easily she could be manipulated. How her dowry would rescue their failing businesses. How she was like a puppy that always came crawling.
Rishabh’s words sliced her deepest:
> “She’s so desperate. Even if I sleep with someone else, she’ll still wag her tail at me.”
Aarya’s breath hitched again. She squeezed her eyes shut as more tears fell.
Her heart didn’t just break…
It crumbled.
She had loved him for fourteen years.
He had destroyed her in fourteen seconds.
She stared down at the edge of the roof. The wind pushed her hair back, as if encouraging her to leap into freedom.
Maybe… peace was waiting down there.
Maybe she could finally stop hurting.
The door behind her slammed open.
“Aarya!” Rishabh’s voice cut through the night. “Come down. You’re embarrassing us.”
Her brother followed with a mocking grin. “Drama queen. Jump na, if you dare!”
Her mother’s voice — always sharp — followed:
> “Don’t you dare die before the engagement. We need the money.”
Aarya turned slowly.
Their faces were twisted… not with worry… but irritation.
Like she was ruining their evening.
The final thread inside her snapped.
She whispered, voice hollow, “I’m sorry… for once, I’m choosing myself.”
Then she fell.
Wind roared around her.
Her pain scattered like dust.
And finally…
Darkness embraced her gently.
When she opened her eyes again, she thought she was dreaming.
A soft ceiling.
Lavender curtains.
Her childhood bedroom — untouched by time.
She sat up abruptly.
Her hands — small, unscarred.
Her skin — smooth, unbruised.
She ran to the mirror.
The face reflected back was her…
but a younger her.
Sixteen.
Just before her life began to fall apart.
Her chest tightened.
Was this heaven?
Or… had she come back?
Memories of her death flashed.
The rooftop.
The wind.
Her final heartbeat.
“No…” She whispered, eyes wide. “I… I’m alive?”
A second chance.
A new timeline.
Her heart pounded — not with fear — but fire.
This time…
She would not love blindly.
She would not allow them to break her.
She would not beg for affection from monsters.
Aarya clenched her fists and breathed deep.
“I will rise,” she swore softly.
“And every one of you will regret the girl you destroyed.”
Her door suddenly banged open.
Her mother rushed in, already angry. “What are you still doing in bed? Cook breakfast! Your brother must eat before school!”
Old fear tried to shake her spine — but Aarya stood tall.
“No,” she said.
Her mother froze, shocked. “What did you say?”
Aarya’s gaze turned sharp like a blade. “I said no. I’m not your maid.”
Her mother’s hand lifted to slap.
But Aarya grabbed her wrist mid-air.
Their eyes met.
For the first time… Aarya wasn’t the one who flinched.
“I’m going to study,” Aarya said slowly. “I’m going to win scholarships. And live a life where you can never touch me again.”
Her mother yanked her hand back, startled. “You ungrateful—”
But Aarya walked out.
Leaving her mother speechless.
Her legs trembled once she left the room — courage still new in her veins. But she kept walking. Step by step.
Because this time…
She was reborn with purpose.
Later that day, at school, whispers followed her like shadows:
“Aarya Sharma? The silent girl?”
“She looks… different today.”
“More confident.”
As she headed toward the library, she collided into someone — strong, tall. Books scattered everywhere.
“Ah, I’m so sorry—” she started, bending down to pick them up.
Then she looked up.
The boy before her had deep, storm-gray eyes with a hint of something unreadable. He offered his hand, voice cold but soft:
“You should watch where you’re going.”
She accepted his hand — and a strange jolt ran through her.
Aarya didn’t know it yet…
But this boy — this quiet transfer student — would one day become the richest, most powerful man in the world.
His name was:
Adrian Knight.
And as he looked into her eyes, something flickered in his expression — curiosity… interest… a spark of recognition?
Like destiny itself had rewound time to bring them together.
Aarya gently pulled her hand away and gave a polite nod.
From behind Adrian, she heard a familiar voice.
Her brother. Laughing.
“Tsk, look at her. Acting like some heroine.”
The insult hit her ears — but for the first time, it didn’t reach her heart.
Because Aarya had already decided:
They were not worth her pain anymore.
She walked away without turning back.
Every step echoed a new promise:
She would rise.
She would heal.
She would shine.
And they…
They would never forget the daughter they once threw away.

Aarya stepped out of the school building with a steady breath. The sun felt warmer than she remembered. Maybe it was because, this time, she wasn’t walking into an uncertain future… she was walking toward her own power.
Her old self used to shrink in the hallways, invisible and quiet.
Now? People stared — not out of pity, but surprise.
Aarya’s chin lifted a little higher.
She still felt that strange moment with Adrian replaying in her mind — the electric touch, those stormy eyes watching her like she mattered.
Who was he in this life?
Would he change her fate?
Or was she still alone in this battle?
No. Not alone anymore.
She had herself.
And that was enough.
When she reached home, the living room was filled with tension. Her father sat with bills scattered on the table, frustration all over his face.
As soon as he saw her, he snapped, “Where were you? Your mother said you refused to work!”
Aarya didn’t flinch.
“I’m focusing on my studies.”
Her father scoffed. “Studies? You think you will magically become someone important? This house runs because we taught you discipline!”
Her brother laughed from the sofa.
“Discipline? You mean using her like a servant?”
Aarya’s heart still hurt hearing him. In her first life, she would’ve chosen silence. But not anymore.
“I’ll make sure I become someone you can’t control,” she said quietly. “Wait and watch.”
Her father slammed his fist on the table.
“You dare speak to me like that—!”
“Enough!” her mother barked. “She’ll do what we say! Her future is already decided!”
Aarya’s smile was cold.
Not this time.
She walked away, hearing them shout after her. But every insult only fed the fire inside her chest.
Tonight, she opened her old textbooks — familiar pages from a life she had already lived.
She whispered to her younger self from the mirror:
“You know the future.
Use it.
And win.”
The next morning, she found Adrian leaning against the school gate — like he was waiting. His eyes flicked to her instantly.
“You look different today,” he said flatly.
Aarya raised an eyebrow. “Good different or bad different?”
He studied her for a moment longer.
“…Strong,” he replied.
Her heart stuttered.
No one had ever called her that.
Before she could respond, he handed her a notebook that had fallen from her bag yesterday.
“You forgot this.”
“Thank you,” she said softly.
He nodded once and walked away, but not before she caught the hint of a rare, almost hidden smile.
Aarya touched the notebook to her chest.
Maybe… just maybe…
this second life wasn’t only about revenge.
Maybe it was a chance to finally live.

The next few days passed like a quiet storm.
Aarya woke up early, cooked a single breakfast — for herself — and left before anyone could stop her. Her mother yelled after her, but Aarya didn’t even look back.
At school, she planted herself in the library — page after page, formula after formula. She knew exactly which exams would matter, which competitions would change her future.
And she wasn’t going to waste a second.
Teachers who barely noticed her before suddenly frowned at the test papers.
“Full marks… Aarya?”
“Again?”
“Is this really your handwriting?”
Aarya only responded with a calm smile.
Inside, she felt like a phoenix stretching its wings.
By week’s end, the Principal called her parents for a meeting.
Her mother arrived, irritated. “What now? Another complaint? I swear this girl—”
Instead, the Principal smiled brightly.
“Congratulations! Aarya has achieved the highest score in the district. We will be recommending her for an international scholarship exam.”
Her mother’s jaw… dropped.
“H-highest? Scholarship?”
“But she— she never—”
Aarya sat straight, expression polite. “I worked for it.”
The Principal added, “If she keeps this up, she’ll have universities fighting to give her full funding.”
Her father’s greed flickered instantly — Aarya caught the look.
He saw money.
He didn’t see her.
“How much will we get?” he asked eagerly.
The Principal blinked. “Sir… this scholarship supports the student, not the parents.”
Her father’s smile vanished.
Aarya rose and bowed slightly.
“Thank you, sir. I won’t disappoint you.”
As they walked out, her mother grabbed her wrist harshly.
“You think you’re special now? Don’t forget who feeds you!”
Aarya slowly freed her wrist.
“Sure. But soon… you won’t be able to afford to feed me.”
Her mother froze — shocked by the confidence in Aarya’s eyes.
For the first time, she looked… uncertain.
Aarya walked past her, head held high.
At home, her brother was waiting with a smirk.
“So, nerdy sister thinks she’s a genius now?”
Aarya didn’t waste her breath. “Move.”
He stepped in front of her. “Or what? You’ll hit me?”
Aarya looked him dead in the eyes — calm and fearless.
“No. I’ll destroy you the same way you destroyed me…
Just not physically.”
Her brother swallowed — actually intimidated.
Aarya walked to her room, quietly closing the door.
But inside, her heart raced with adrenaline.
Standing up to them still scared her…
but she was doing it anyway.
She pressed her palm against her chest and whispered:
“Step by step, Aarya… soon, they’ll realize you are not the same girl.”
And when they regret…
She would be far, far out of reach.
