When Our Eyes Met

chapter - 1 the ceremony

It was an ordinary morning for Supriya. She woke up early, worked out, and then went to wake her younger brother. Somewhere between getting ready and packing her bag, she almost forgot that today was a big day for her she was going to be announced as the next House Captain of her school. Standing in front of the mirror, she straightened her hair, applied a little blush, and took a deep breath. At exactly 7:11 a.m., Supriya stepped out of the house. Her hair was in an unfinished bun, one hand trying to fix it while the other struggled to manage her bicycle, the morning felt calm until she noticed a cat crossing the road, she got distracted for a second and the next moment, her bicycle swerved straight into the woods everything happened too fast the impact knocked her out. When Supriya slowly regained consciousness, her head felt light and her vision blurred as someone helped her back onto her feet,

“Better watch your steps,” a guy said calmly. “I know mornings get a bit cloudy, but still, she wasn’t wearing her glasses, so she couldn’t see his face clearly. The only thing she noticed was an infinity-shaped tattoo on his right hand,“Yeah, I guess,” she replied softly. “But thank you so much for helping me,before she could say anything else, he walked away, when she reached school, seeing her best friend Sofia waiting for her instantly made her feel lighter. She had been really stressed about the ceremony,“Anyways,” Sofia said, smiling, “my house captain—you look pretty today. By the way, what’s that scar on your hand?“I got into an accident,” Supriya replied. “But I’m fine now. A tall guy helped me get up,“Ommg, girl! Do you know him?” Sofia asked,“No, girly. I wasn’t wearing my glasses at that time. But he had an infinity tattoo on his right hand."damn girl"

“Anyways, gtg,” Sofia said. “I need to report to Rachna ma’am or she’ll kill me.”

Supriya laughed, hugged her best friend, and headed towards the auditorium for the ceremony practice. As she walked, her thoughts drifted back to the mysterious guy from earlier.

Lost in her thoughts, she bumped into someone.

“Don’t you have eyes or anything?” she murmured.

“So that’s what I get as a thank you after helping you?” the guy replied.

Supriya looked up and froze.

Standing in front of her was the school’s most hated and most talked-about boy, Naman.

She went speechless. Her eyes slowly moved to his right arm.

The tattoo.

The infinity tattoo.

Without saying a word, Supriya walked past him.

Soon, she got busy with work and stopped thinking about him. When the ceremony preparations began, all the council members gathered in a room. Supriya was chatting with her friends when she suddenly felt someone watching her.

She tried to ignore it.

But then she looked up.

Their eyes locked.

Supriya had never felt anything like this before and somehow, she knew Naman felt it too.

When parents started arriving, Supriya was informed that she would be giving a speech with someone she didn’t know. As the speech practice was about to begin, she saw Naman standing there, holding the speech in his hand.

That’s when she realised they were going to give the speech together.

Before the practice began, Supriya felt nervous. Naman noticed it and spoke.

“Nervous?”

“Yeah, kinda,” she said without looking up. “It’s my first time, plus there are a lot of people.”

“I get it,” Naman said. “But don’t worry. I know everything will turn out great.”

He looked straight into her eyes.

“I trust you.”

Supriya blushed but didn’t let it show.

The ceremony went smoothly, and their speech was a hit.

After everything ended, Supriya returned to the empty auditorium to pick up her bag.

That’s when she saw Naman again.

She looked at him and smiled warmly.

“So… are you on Insta?” he asked.

She turned back, confused. “Why do you need it?”

“Just to catch up and all.”

Supriya smiled. “Your tricks won’t work on me, dork

chapter 2-Accidents & Almosts

That day should have ended like any other school day but it didn’t.

As soon as Supriya reached home, she threw her bag on the bed and sat down, her mind refusing to calm down. No matter how hard she tried to distract herself, one name kept replaying in her head.

Naman Sharma.

She grabbed her phone without thinking and opened Instagram. Her fingers moved on their own as she typed his name into the search bar. And there he was—his profile popping up with a big, charming smile. Thankfully, his account was public.

She hesitated for a second… then started stalking him.

Scroll.

Scroll.

Her heart skipped when she saw it a picture of him flexing his body.

Okay wow, she thought.

And then it happened.

Her thumb slipped.

Liked.

“Shit. Shit. Shit. Oh my God no, no, nooo,” she whispered, panic rushing through her. “Now he’ll think I’m a stalker. What is wrong with you, Supriyaaa?”

She stared at the screen, hoping the app would magically undo her mistake.

Five minutes passed.

Then her phone buzzed.

@naman4sharma requested to follow you.

Her breath hitched. Without overthinking it this time, she accepted the request.

Almost instantly, a message popped up.

Naman: Stalking me, beautiful?

Supriya threw her phone on the bed, buried her face into the pillow, and screamed.

She picked the phone back up and stared at the chat. Her fingers hovered over the keyboard as she typed… deleted… typed again. She didn’t want to sound nervous. She didn’t want him to think she cared.

Finally, she sent it.

Supriya: Nope. Who would stalk you, dork? It was just an accident—don’t get too hyped up.

On the other side of the screen, Naman smiled. He hadn’t expected her to reply so fast—and he definitely hadn’t expected to care this much.

A reply came almost immediately.

Naman: Yeah, sure. Accidents happen on flexing bicep pics now?

(He leaned back, enjoying this more than he should have.)

Supriya rolled her eyes, even though she was smiling.

Supriya: Whatever, dork. I’m sorry.

(Her heart was still racing.)

Naman: Relax, I’m kidding. I kinda liked the attention 😌

(He smiled at his screen, wondering why her replies felt different.)

Supriya: Wow, confidence level = 100

(She tried to sound casual, even though her cheeks felt warm.)

Naman: Can’t help it. House captains do that to people

(He was enjoying this maybe a little too much.)

Supriya: Oh please, you were confident even before that

(She didn’t know why she typed it, but it felt true.)

Naman: You noticed?

(For a second, he actually cared about her answer.)

Supriya: Don’t read too much into it

(She bit her lip, hoping he wouldn’t.)

Naman: Too late. I already am

(And he wasn’t lying.)

Supriya: You’re annoying

(But she was smiling like an idiot.)

Naman: And yet… you’re still replying

(He felt oddly proud.)

Supriya: Unfortunately

(She knew she wasn’t going to stop.)

Naman: Then I’ll take that as a win

(He felt lighter than he had all day.)

Supriya: 🙄

(Her cheeks burned.)

There was a small pause.

Naman: By the way… you did really well today

(His tone softened without him realizing.)

Supriya’s smile faded into something quieter.

Supriya: Thanks… I was actually very nervous

(She rarely admitted that.)

Naman: I know. That’s why I said I trusted you

(He meant every word.)

Her heart skipped.

Supriya: …you remember that?

(She stared at the screen.)

Naman: Hard to forget

(Especially when it was her.)

Supriya: 😐 stop

(She buried her face into the pillow again.)

Naman: Okay okay. Goodnight, House Captain

(He stared at the chat a little longer than needed.)

Supriya: Goodnight… dork

(And for the first time that day, she slept with a smile.)
