The Runaway Little Bunny
The Escape
The moon hid behind thick clouds, and the world was silent — except for the sound of desperate footsteps crunching through wet leaves.
The bunny omega ran barefoot through the forest.
His breathing came out in sharp, panicked gasps.
His skin — scratched, bleeding. His white hair tangled with dirt and twigs.
He didn’t look back, though he could feel them — the men chasing him, closing in.
Fenian Caelwyn
(whispering to himself)
Don’t stop… keep going… just a little more… please.
The forest seemed endless — roots, branches, rocks. His legs trembled, but fear gave him strength.
Then, his ears twitched.
Voices from behind:
“Over there!”
“Don’t let him escape!”
Omega's eyes widened. He forced himself faster, heart pounding painfully against his ribs.
Then suddenly — the trees opened up, revealing a sheer cliffside.
The omega skidded to a stop — pebbles tumbling over the edge.
He looked down. The drop was high… too high.
Fenian Caelwyn
(breathing hard)
"No… no no no… not here…"
Behind him, torches flickered through the trees.
Men’s voices grew clearer — rough, angry, hunting.
Unknown voice:
(shouting)
“He’s close! Don’t let him get away!”
Fenian’s entire body trembled. He took one shaky step back from the edge.
Fenian Caelwyn
(to himself)
“They’ll take me back… or kill me... I can’t… I can’t go back...”
He turned, hearing footsteps — closer now. He could smell them.
Tears burned his eyes.
He glanced down once more at the dark drop — mist rising from the depths.
Fenian Caelwyn
(voice breaking)
“…I’m sorry, Papa…”
And then, a single scream echoed through the night — sharp and short.
Silence followed.
Only the forest whispered.
The Search
The forest parted under heavy boots and harsh flashlights.
The enigma — tall, cold, dangerous — moved like a storm through the trees.
His black coat swayed, rain dripping from his hair.
His crimson eyes glimmered with a rage that scared even his own men.
Enigma
(snarling)
Where is he?
Thalric Varyn
Boss… we—we heard the scream from here. Then—
he pointed toward the edge
Thalric Varyn
We found these
the Enigma followed the beam of the flashlight.
There — clear footprints pressed deep into the wet soil.
And at the very end… nothing but broken earth and loose stones.
Enigma's stomach dropped.
Enigma
(low, dangerous)
You’re telling me he fell.
Thalric Varyn
(hesitant)
The prints end here, sir… no sign of struggle. He might’ve—
The enigma grabbed his collar, slamming him against a tree.
Enigma
(snarling)
Don’t say it.
The men froze.
Even the forest seemed to hold its breath.
The enigma let go and turned toward the cliff, stepping dangerously close to the edge.
The wind howled up from below, carrying only the faint scent of blood and fear.
His hands shook. Not from anger — but guilt.
Enigma
(softly)
“…Why did you run, little bunny…”
He could still remember the last time he saw those blue-white eyes, full of terror.
He had meant to protect him — not scare him.
But now… he was gone.
Thalric Varyn
“Sir… what are your orders?”
the Enigma's eyes turned cold, red like a burning ember.
He clenched his jaw.
Enigma
“Search the bottom of the cliff.”
His voice cracked — just once.
Enigma
“Search every damn inch until you find him. Dead or alive.”
Thunder rolled in the distance.
The men nodded and spread out, flashlights cutting through the mist.
The Enigma stayed at the edge, staring down into the black abyss, his reflection trembling in the darkness below.
Enigma
(whispering)
…You’re not gone. I’ll find you. Even if I have to tear this forest apart.
The Belief
The storm had not stopped.
Rain poured like punishment, soaking the men, washing away footprints, blood, and the last traces of hope.
The Enigma stood still at the cliff’s edge, drenched from head to toe. His crimson eyes burned against the gray.
Thalric Varyn
(quietly)
“Boss… the river runs deep under the cliff. The current’s strong. If he fell—”
Enigma
(turning sharply)
“If he fell, he’d still fight to breathe.”
Thalric Varyn
(hesitant)
“With that wound, sir? No one could survive that drop—”
The Enigma's fist slammed into the nearest tree, bark cracking beneath his knuckles.
The men flinched.
Enigma
(snarling)
“He’s not dead.”
Thalric lowered his eyes. He had seen his boss's rage before — but this was different. It wasn’t anger. It was desperation.
The rain thinned to a drizzle. The forest exhaled.
The Enigma crouched by the edge, tracing the muddy ground with trembling fingers. His fingertips brushed something — soft, torn, familiar.
A small piece of pale fabric.
He held it up, heart hammering.
Enigma
(softly)
“This was his sleeve…”
Thalric stepped closer, voice uncertain.
Thalric Varyn
“Maybe it got caught when he—”
Enigma
“Or maybe he wanted us to find it.”
The Enigma's eyes flickered — hope, sharp and dangerous.
Enigma
“He was smart. If he planned to run, he’d make us think he didn’t survive.”
Thalric Varyn
“You mean he… faked his death?
the Enigma rose slowly, his wet coat clinging to him. The rain fell harder again, as if the sky itself braced for what came next.
Enigma
(low, steady)
“He’s alive. And he’s hiding.”
Thalric Varyn
“Sir, it’s been hours. Even if he did— where could he go?”
The Enigma's gaze turned toward the distant valley, where faint city lights flickered between mountains.
Enigma
“Somewhere I can’t reach easily. Somewhere he thinks I won’t look.”
He turned away from the cliff, voice hardening.
Enigma
“Send half the men down the ravine. The rest, cover the western path. He won’t stay in the wild for long.”
Thalric Varyn
“And if… if he doesn’t want to be found?”
The Enigma froze mid-step. For a long time, the rain was the only sound.
Then — quietly, with something almost broken beneath his voice:
Enigma
“Then I’ll make him remember why he ran… and why he shouldn’t have.”
Thalric watched him walk away, the man’s shadow bleeding into the mist. He wanted to ask more — why he cared so much, why he looked like he’d lost something more than a fugitive.
But he didn’t.
Instead, he whispered to the forest, to no one at all:
Thalric Varyn
“…Wherever you are, little bunny… I hope you’re really free.”
The forest answered only with thunder — far away, but echoing like a heartbeat.
