Introduction.

Hello! I go by the initials 'V.A' and this is my first time putting my work out into the world. Snooping Around Your Gaze started from a tiny moment of curiosity that grew into a story I couldn’t stop writing. Publishing it feels surreal, but also fulfilling in a way I didn’t expect.

I hope someone out there connects with it, even just a little. Thank you for giving my first piece a chance.

Opening.

There I was, sitting on the lower bench inside the school's gym forced to attend and already wanting to go home. The place was loud, crowded. Boy, it stinked.

My eyes wandered around as I tried to find at least something to make myself endure the rest of the event. Oh, just great. A 'Band' is playing now? I bet it's just another one of those wanna-be cool musicians when in reality, they sound nothing but stupid.

Yawning away my boredom, they started to play what it seems like a 2000s rock OPM. Though they sounded decent, I found the drummer quite.. something.

The way he played was very accurate and actually good.. it almost made me forget of how much I wanted to leave.

Halfway through the song, my eyes and ears only focused on the drummer.. the way his hands moved so sweptly, perfecting each timing, soul just lost in the music. Those short moments left something inside my heart and mind truly words cannot explain, I found myself smiling.

I remember seeing his calm and collected face shaken by his startled reaction after the judge mentioned that they placed first in the competition. My eyes fixated on his gaze, I couldn't avoid the feeling of being curious and wanting to be involved, in some way…

Chapter 1.

Ow! What the- my head throbbing, I look up to see who I just bumped into.

Wait, no way. Is that… him?

Our eyes locked for a split second before he mumbled an apology and hurried away.

What. Just. Happened.

Processing what I just experienced, I couldn’t help thinking about how he smelled faintly of cologne and chaos. Standing there, dumbfounded.

Seeing what time it was already, I rushed off for my training. I hurriedly ran to the venue only to see him sitting in the front row. What is he doing here??

I sat down in the back and caught up with my friends about how my whole week went by. I noticed as I sneak glances, that whenever he was in front of the computer, his face would tense up in deep focus — brows furrowed, lips pressed, completely lost in his own world. I couldn’t help but chuckle quietly at the sight.

My mind in disarray, I couldn’t seem to figure out the problem our trainer left us to solve. The room buzzed with murmurs and inaudible chatter, everyone scrambling to keep up with the time limit given.

Then, all of a sudden, a familiar figure dazed across my sight.

A bunch of people called out for someone named Voz.

That’s… him?

So his name is Voz, huh. Somewhat fitting for someone who carries the energy of light, yet hides a hint of darkness that lurks within.
