We Met On the Ice
Prologue
On one autumn day in Rivendell Highschool...
The ice rink was full of students preparing for the upcoming Winter Championships.
Unfortunately, that meant sports has to share one rink. For example, ice skaters and hockey players.
A skater had fallen down on a piece of equipment which had been forgotten on the floor.
Ice Skater #2
Hey, are you alright?
Ryoko Shinawara
Calm down, guys.
Their co-captain had appeared. One glance at the hockey stick and he immediately knew what happened.
Hockey Player #1
Hey! How about we play Dodge the Puck? I throw them on the ground, you skate around them!
Ice Skater #1
I hope your luck in the Winter Championships dodge you!!
Ryoko Shinawara
Okay, we wouldn't want that.
Hockey Player #2
Oh, it's their co-captain!
Hockey Player #1
Aw man. I was just starting..
Ryoko Shinawara
Aren't you guys supposed to be preparing for your game?
Hockey Player #2
We thought disturbing the others would be fun.
Hockey Player #3
Have a problem with it, Mr. Ice?
The co-captain was silent for a moment before picking up the hockey stick that had fallen.
Ryoko Shinawara
I'll show you trouble.
(this is just a test, might not actually continue)
Ep. 1
One thing that sets aside gymnastics and figure skating from the other sports is the flexibility and speed required to meet expectations.
Fortunately for Ryoko, or unfortunately for the hockey players, he was exactly that.
Ryoko Shinawara
Perhaps your mother never beat any sense into you as a kid, because clearly you lack manners.
Hockey Player #2
Excuse me?!
Alastair McKenney
Ryoko, it isn't that serious.
Ryoko Shinawara
Didn't ask for your opinion
He swiftly skated over to Alastair and stole the hockey stick from him before hitting him down onto the ice.
Alastair McKenney
OW?! MAN, DID IT HAVE TO BE ME?!
Ryoko Shinawara
Of course not, I'm not discriminating.
With that, he proceeded to hit the other hockey players who had laughed at his junior.
Ice Skater #1
Co-captain, seriously, I don't think you should—
Ice Skater #2
Oh, the horrors...
Ryoko Shinawara
There, the job's done.
Ryoko huffed proudly for himself before throwing the hockey stick away in the direction of the defeated hockey players.
Alastair McKenney
I hope that prick breaks his leg, piece of sh—
Mr. Richard
What happened here?
The entire rink fell silent as the ice skating coach appeared alongside the feared hockey coach.
Coach Thompson
Why's everyone on the ice?! Get up and continue practicing!
Hockey Player #2
Sir! We would like to explain!
Hockey Player #1
Yeah! The ice-skating co-captain knocked us down with a stick!
Ryoko Shinawara
Are you f—
Mr. Richard
Ryoko, is that true?
Ryoko stayed silent, guilt and remorse building up in him. Not towards the hockey players though, but to his coach.
Alastair stood up from the ice with a grunt.
Alastair McKenney
Trust us, coach, you can even ask the ice skaters yourself
Coach Thompson
Figure skating is quite the expensive sport, it makes sense for its players to be extremely proud—
Coach Thompson
Speaking my mind, Ricky. Even you are.
Mr. Richard approached Ryoko with a disappointed look.
Mr. Richard
Ryoko, what you have done is very unprofessional. For that, I'll have to remove you from the Winter Sports Festival as our school's representative.
Ice Skater #1
Sir! He was just trying to defend me!
Ice Skater #2
Yeah! The hockey players started it first!
Mr. Richard
Whether they started it first or not, it is still unprofessional.
Alastair McKenney
Heh, deserved.
Alastair smirked in Ryoko's direction, seeming pleased with himself.
Hockey Player #2
Less worries in the ice from now on, I suppose?
Hockey Player #3
Yeah, Mister Bossy and Noble is off the rink.
Ryoko walked away from the rink, stepping out and removing his skates before storming into the locker room.
Coach Thompson
Geez, teenagers these days...
Alastair McKenney
Alright, everyone, stand up! Coach says we need to continue practicing!
Hockey Player #1
Yes, captain!
Hockey Player #1
You don't have scurvy, shut up
The two remaining figure skaters stayed at the sidelines, not knowing what to do anymore for their practice.
Mr. Richard
You two, get to work. You'll be performing a duo in place of Ryoko.
Ice Skater #1
Sir, really...we aren't as good as Ryoko, can't you let him return?
Ice Skater #2
Really, really! It wasn't his fault! Besides, look! The hockey players are all fine!
Mr. Richard
I'll think about it. But for now, practice.
The two of them skated away from their coach in defeat, unable to handle the loss of their captain,
