The first thing I remember is wet rain hitting my face streaming down my eye lids. I could feel the glue keeping my eyes shut soften. Opening my eyes for the first time everything was blurry and wet but when it all cleared I was in some tall grass with big trees closing off the dark sky. Suddenly a huge burst of light flashed above me with a boom that had my ears injecting me with fear. I try to sit up to find a place to hide but my arms are too weak to put any weight on them. I let out a yelp to get attention but none comes. I feel an emptiness in my stomach start to form the longer i wait the more painful it gets.
The rain that beat on my back got colder and colder every minute till I was shivering. Another flash of light illuminates the sky following with a big boom I hear myself screech. Once again I try to stand and manage to lift myself up just enough to see over the grass but the cold reaches my unprotected stomach and chills my heart. The cold was too much and the rain only made it worse and the emptiness in my stomach became too painful for me to withstand. I feel my eyes start to sag and get heavy. I start to close my eyes when another boom wakes me up, I cry out again and it is metered with a silent thundering in the distance getting louder every second.
After some time the thunder seemed to be right next to me but the next thing I remember is a third of something running all around me, some running over me. The bigger ones at the front had branches on its head followed by others without any. They all seem to shake the ground and make it move. BOOM another flash of lightning making them all scatter and shake the ground with their feet making it hard to stay on the floor. Then a sudden burst of energy sent me into the air, then something smashed me into a nearby tree. Digging my claws into the bark kept me from hitting the ground, my leg filled with pain and unable to be moved as if it was pulled out of place. The only thing I could do was cry out and hope someone comes to my aid.
Soon the thundering dies down and the rain is all that can be heard besides my cries for help. Boom, another clash sends a jolt of fear through my head making me lose my grip and making me fall. When I hit the ground my leg pops back into the joint. All I could feel was pain and cold. As I look to the sky I see a gentle light of the moon getting brighter the longer I look illuminating the green trees, making the pain leave for about a second as darkness clouds my vision tell everything went black.
When I woke up my head was spinning pain beating the front of my skull. Everything was blurry. I couldn't remember how I got here.
Once my vision clears I see that I am in a den carpet of moss growing along the floor and vines growing along the sealing covering the entrance. I was laying elevated on a rock also coated in moss. A scent of lavender coated the den calming me.
Resting my head on the moss I started to drift off to sleep too tired to get up. The sounds of water trickling down the walls of the cave were soothing and the smell of lavender putting me at ease. I wasn't worried about how I got there or anything like that, just the sense of please soothing me to sleep.
I wake up in a field of flowers and a beautiful sunset streaks the sky with oranges, reds ,and pinks. The wind ruffled my fur, the grass nestled underneath me. Truly finding peace and happiness, It felt like it could go on forever.
As the dream melts away I can't help but feel sad that dream felt so peaceful and now it is gone. Opening my eyes I see that it's night outside and that big cat voleclaw sleeping on the floor. I realized that he brought me to his den and helped me, mabby he wasn't a bad guy, but I was not waiting around to find out. Getting to my feet was easy but jumping off the rock would be challenging unless I roll, that way I wont get hurt. I position myself and start rolling.
The landing was rougher than I thought but the moss softened the fall, but everything started to spin and become scrambled and my head started to ache. Then I heard a soft voice of voleclaw “Are you alright.” I close my eyes to stop the spinning so I can see him. When I opened my eyes again everything was still and I could see voleclaw hoovering over me. “You seem to be alright, how is your head?” He says, I reach my paw up to feel the front of my head but when my paw touches it, it suddenly feels like I got hit in the head by a rock. I yank my paw away from my head and it immediately eases the pain. Voleclaw looks down at me and says “It must be bruised or a goose ache.” looking up at him I saw his face, it looked worried and sleepy. “Thank y… you.” I say as I look downward, this is the first conversation I have ever had, “It's alright, do you know where your parents are?” he says “N…no I don't know.” “That's alright you can stay with me tonight then we can take you to the nearest clan. I don't live near any clans though so it will be a long trip.” “Clans?” “Thats a place where a structured, territorial society of cats live with their own laws, leaders, and territories. I am a rogue so I don't live in a clan, I just live by myself.” “Ooh, did you have a clan?” He pauses as if trying to find an answer. “Yes, a long time ago … anyway you should sleep your injuries are not healed yet.” He gently lifts me up and places me on the rock, then he lays down on the floor and starts to fall asleep.
I curled up on the rock trying to get warm but the moss is wet and cold under me keeping me up. I look around for a warmer place, voleclaw seems to be the warmest thing in the cave so stand up and roll off the rock and snuggle next to him, warmth filling my body and finally sleep finds me.”
I woke up in a place with lots of cats all working or talking, lots of dens held cats but everyone seemed to not see me so I walked around exploring when I found a den under a big rock covered in vines and moss also blocking the entrance. So obviously I walked over and took a peak. The vines were thick and hard to move but my small size helped me weave through the crawlers and come into an oak wood and white wallpaper room with two blond cats on with a pink collar and the other in a blue.
“Ooh Jim I dont think I can have one more litter they take so much out of me.” she tells the boy “I know sweety you can take a break but the housefolk will get mad if the kits aren't selling.”
“I know but this was my sixth litter.”
“(sigh) I don't control this place.” Then they huddle up next to each other and disintegrate.
I wake up on voleclaw him walking through the forest, the sun peaking and throwing the leaves. A slight breeze makes the leaves fall in radiant reds and yellows. “It is nearly leaf-bear.” He says as he looks up at the trees. “What that?” “When frozen water falls from the sky also known as snow that makes the ground white and cold, Kill… putting all the plants to sleep.” “That sounds fun!” “Ya … fun.”
For the longest time no one said anything, making the walk peaceful with the song birds singing and the leaves gliding down to the ground. “When will we get there?” I said a few minutes later. “When you see the moon at its biggest.” He answered back, “But … but it’s so small.” “Then I guess we will not get to the clans for a while.” “(Groan)” “Hehehe”
After what felt like forever Voleclaw finally stopped and set me down. “Are you hungry… Do you umm eat fresh kill.” He asks politely, “I don’t know what you're talking about.” “What do you eat?” I look around and see a bush with red Berrys on a bush and point towards them. “Those are Death berries. I don't think you should eat them.” He says, I look over at them again really looking at them they didn’t look deathly they kind of look … yummy.
“I am going to get something to eat, you just …I don’t know if I can find something edible.” Voleclaw says as he walks off into the forest. I hear my stomach growl I look around but there is nothing to eat except the berrys on the bush.
I walk over to see some of the red Berrys hanging down low enough to get. I knock one down with my paw and take a bite. It tastes bitter and stale and when I swallow I start to become woozy and sleepy. I realized that I was dying. My stomach flipped. I could feel my legs getting weaker and weaker. I had to do something. I had to get it out. I squish my stomach as hard as I can, making everything come up and send it back to where it came from. I felt relief from the pain I could breathe regularly again. When Voleclaw came back he saw my vomit and the berry and realized what I had done instantly “WHAT DID YOU DO!!!!!” He yells” “I…I was hungry.” I replied “ I said they were poisonous, why did you eat them!” Before I could answer we heard a loud sound coming from a nearby hill. “This way.” Voleclaw says as he walks towards the hill.
I follow after Voleclaw one step for him is forty to me so to keep up I need to jog after him. When we started climbing up the hill, keeping up just got harder with rocks as big as my head falling as he climbed ahead of me. “How are you doing back there?” Voleclaw says without looking back. As I was about to answer another rock was rolling straight at me, without thinking I jumped up and barely missed it I turned around at Voleclaw “ Slow down you almost killed me.” I yell .He turns around and picks me up by the neck and continues walking up the hill.
When we reach the top there was a black river at the top going along the edge of the hill.
“This it the Thunderpath, we must be careful when crossing to not get hit by the monsters.” Voleclaw says “what’s a monster?” I say. Suddenly a large, fast, and loud black thing speeds past us. “That is a monster.” Voleclaw replied.
He looks right and left before jumping into the Thunderpath and racing across before another monster comes. He jumps one more time making it safely to the other side. We look back and see a white monster rushing past us “That was close.” He says as he places me down. “ Let’s keep moving.” He says and keeps moving forward as I try to keep up.
The sun was high in the sky with clouds covering it from time to time as Voleclaw wasn’t saying anything so I decided ti start a conversation with him “So what happened to your clan.” He replies after a couple minutes as if my words were slow and distant “I … I don’t know what they are doing now I just know that they don’t need me anymore … but … never mind.” “No, tell me what you were going to say.” “ I was … you won’t tell anyone when I take you to the clans right?” “Not unless you tell me it’s ok.” “ Ok I…I tried to kill my brother, he was planning to kill the leader Seastar to become leader, I couldn’t let him do it though she was having my kits, and I loved her too much. I was a medicine cat so I wasn’t allowed to have kits but seastar was just too beautiful and radiant so when I found out she was having kits I was overjoyed but, my brother ruined that for me, he was planning to kill her after she had her kits. When I was trying to kill him someone saw and told seastar but she didn’t know the whole truth but it was too late and I was exiled.” “Sorry I wasn’t listening that well can you tell me again.” “No.” “Please.” “No.” “Awwwwww.”
After another long while the sun started to set and the moon was coming out looking. A little bigger than last night. I was put on Voleclaws back when it got dark so that the night time creatures wouldn’t get me. After a few minutes later little green lights started to flash on and off all around. “What are those?” I say to Voleclaw “ Those are fireflies, aren't they beautiful.” He replies “Yes.” The little hum of the fireflies felt peaceful in the dark forest with the moon illuminating everything by a little.
As I started to drift off a lowd sound woke me up similar to the monster on the Thunderpath. “ What was that?” I asked “ That’s the Thunderpath again sounds bigger though.”
Weaving through the grass and plants we come out to see the biggest Thunderpath ever with one side having red monsters and the other with white. “Ok this it going to be even more dangerous.” He reaches back and picked me up by the neck again and holds me there and jumps over the metal wall blocking us from getting over and runs faster than ever before missing monsters by inches getting to the center where he puts me down to catch his breath. “It’s been a while since I ran (huff huff) that fast.” “You must be old.” He stops breathing hard and stairs at me for a moment then he picks me up without saying anything and leaps into the next part of the Thunderpath.” He jumps and dodges the monsters tell we are almost to the other end of the road till I heard a crash behind me and then I was thrown onto the other side of the Thunderpath and hitting the ground and rolling through the grass till I stopped.
