Argument and Accident
Inside the room, two person were having an argument.
She couldn't believe the words of the man that she loved for a long time. She was trying hard to held back her tears.
Axcel *ml*
I said, let's break off the engagement! *serious tone*
She was about to speak when he cut her off.
Axcel *ml*
You know from the beginning that I don't love you, and yet you accepted this arranged marriage. So, how come I cheated on you? You're not the woman I love, it's Maggie. She's the one I love.
Hearing his words, she already let her tears flow from her eyes.
She stumbled back slightly and grasped the sofa for support to stand up. Her legs were weakening and her chest was tightening.
Arriane *fl*
And you didn't rejected, how can you blame me for it? And one more thing, you didn't tell me that you love somebody. You could have been honest with me, why hurt me like this? *😭*
She was angry and sad at the same time.
Axcel *ml*
*Scoffed* What if I've told you about it? You're going to hurt her? *😬*
So this is how the man she loved thinks of her. She could see the disgust in the man's eyes as he looked at her.
It's different from the way he looked at the woman in the restaurant the other day. Then, he was happy, smiling while talking with the woman so she can't help but feel jealous.
Arriane *fl*
Is that how you thinks of me? What could I have done to be like that in your eyes? Your so mean! Fine, since you thinks of me that way, I'll do it!
She was about to storm out of the room but Axcel stopped her. She struggled and managed to break free from his grasp. Hastily running out of the room, but he caught up to her.
She was about to go down the stairs when he wrapped his arms around her from behind.
Axcel *ml*
Where do you think you're going?! *angry tone😠*
Arriane *fl*
I'm going to kill that woman! Isn't that how you want me to do?!
She was struggling to break free. Axcel got furious upon hearing her response, so he turned her around, and gripped her arms tightly.
She looked into his eyes and saw anger, and disgust towards her.
Axcel *ml*
Don't you ever dare lay a habd on her, or else-
Arriane *fl*
Or else what?! You're going to kill me?! Fine, then do it before I'll kill her! *shouted*
After saying that to the person in front of her, she tried to shake off his hands, which were gripping her, so she could get away. But unexpectedly, they were near the stairs, and she was just a few steps away from the edge.
She lost her balance and fell down the stairs. Her head repeatedly hit the stairs as her body rolled down.
He held her body in his arms and slightly lifted her head. Her face was covered in blood as her eyes were closed.
Axcel *ml*
Arriane! *worried*
The man called her name but got no reaction at all. He quickly picked up the woman and rashed out of the mansion. He put her inside the car, with the elderly helper, Mirna. They headed to the hospital.

Arriane's mother cried, rushing to her unconscious daughter's side, accompanied by her father. Tears streamed down her face as she took in the sight of her daughter, surrounded by medical equipment, with an oxygen mask on.
Arriane's father stormed over to Axcel, fury etched on his face, and punched him.
James *fl's father*
How dare you lay a hand on my daughter! *😠*
He growled, his voice dripping with anger.
Axcel's parents, who had just arrived, were shocked.
Julio *ml's father*
James, don't hurt our son. We can talk about this without violence.
James *fl's father*
Julio, your son hurt my daughter
Miraya turned to Axcel, concern etched on her face.
Miraya *ml's mother*
Son, what did you do to Arriane?
Axcel explained the events, but left out the reason for their argument.
James *fl's father*
My daughter wouldn't act like that without a reason. What were you two fighting about? You better tell me, don't make me investigate. *cold and 😠*
Axcel's guilt got the better of him, and he confessed everything. His parents were shocked, and Arriane's parents were furious.
Miraya slapped her son, tears in her eyes.

How could you do that, son? You could have been honest and talked to her about it. Why cheat on her? Arriane would have understood. *😢*

The Fuenterros left, their silence palpable as they drove home. Axcel sensed disappointment in them, and guilt gnawed at him.
He knew Arriane was kind and caring, not just to him, but to everyone around her. He wasn't attracted to her, despite her beauty and wealth. He felt responsible for her feelings, knowing she loved him.
Back at the mansion, his parents confronted him.
Julio *ml's father*
Son, why didn't you discuss it with Arriane before moving on to that woman? *😠*
Axcel *ml*
Dad, she's not just a woman, she has a name, Maggie. *looked at his father's eye*
Miraya *ml's mother*
That’s not the point, son. *firm tone*

If I told her, she might have hurt Maggie.

Axcel, before she accepted the arranged marriage, she made a condition.

After your father and your Uncle James discussed this, she arranged a meeting with her parents and with us. She agreed, but with one condition: ‘If he ever mentions falling in love with someone else, we'll cancel it’.
Axcel was stunned, his mind reeling. He stood up, his legs carrying him to his room.
He sat on his bed, recalling the argument with Arriane. Back then, before their argument, he had been with Maggie, holding her hand, smiling at her. Arriane had seen them, and her pain had been palpable.
Axcel sighed, guilt washing over him.
He spent the next few weeks visiting Arriane in the hospital, trying to make amends. His parents and Maggie urged him to move on, but he couldn't shake the feeling that he had ruined someone's life.

Their relationship became like this after what happened to Arriane. Maggie always get jealous because he spent more time visiting Arriane during his free time after work.
One night, he decided visited Maggie at their apartment, and what he saw made his blood boil. She was with another man.

We're done! *cold and serious*
Axcel's anger and hurt propelled him out of the apartment. He drove recklessly, his vision blurring as he sped away.
He ended up at a bar, drowning his sorrows.
Memories of Arriane haunted him, and he rushed to the hospital, only to find Aunt Mirna, Arriane's loyal caretaker, watching over her.

Aunt, can you leave us for a moment? I want to talk to her.
Alone with Arriane, he poured his heart out, tears streaming down his face.
Axcel *ml*
Arriane, I'm so sorry. Can you wake up for me? I miss you.
Aunt Mirna, listening outside, sighed, her eyes welling up. She knew Arriane loved Axcel, but he had never returned her love. Now, it seemed, he regretted his actions.
An hour later, Axcel left, his eyes red-rimmed. He visited a church, seeking solace, and confessed his sins to a priest.

Father, do you think she'll forgive me? *barely above a whisper*

Everyone has a second chance.
The priest's words offered a glimmer of hope. Axcel clung to those words as he drove away, his phone ringing. It was Aunt Mirna, but he dropped it, and as he bent to pick it up, his world went dark.
Axcel's car crashed into a tree.
The news spread like wildfire: Axcel Fuenterro and Arriane Monterro, former lovers, had passed away, their lives cut short in a tragic twist of fate.
Their families mourned, and the city grieved, but Axcel and Arriane's story was far from over.

*chuckled* It’s just been a while since I left you here.
After a warm hug, her mother left to attend to other guests. Arriane sat down, lost in thought.

So, at this point, the engagement is done, so there’s no turning back. Besides, mom and tita would be suspicious if I canceled it. They know how much I loved Axcel… I’ll just wait for that moment when Axcel falls for Maggie. In this lifetime, I won’t waste my time on him.
She stood up and headed to the CR to touch up her makeup. She stared at her reflection, recalling all the sacrifices she made just to get Axcel’s attention. Sighing, she decided to return to the hall.
As she walked back, she heard a commotion from the side of the hall, like something had broken. She saw the one person she didn’t want to see.

What happened?
She asked, drawing the attention of Axcel and the woman he was with—a waiter, judging by her uniform.
They both looked at her. Axcel was furious, and the woman was trying to wipe his clothes. Arriane’s eyes widened as she recognized the woman.

Arriane looked at Maggie, then back at Axcel, confused by his behavior.
