Jackie has two bosses at the office where she works. They are Jeslie and Santy Afable, who are step-brothers. Jackie secretly fell in love with Santy, but he didn't notice her because he had eyes for someone else. ​Although Jeslie was grumpy and he and Jackie didn't get along, he helped their secretary get closer to Santy's heart. They pretended to be in a relationship to make Santy jealous. However, their plot back-fired when fate began to play havoc with their emotions.

Jacqueline took off her coat as she arrived in front of the security guard's desk. The sudden heavy rain and the resulting flood/puddle she walked through made her shoes sink into the rainwater. She could feel the bottom hem of her skirt/dress dripping wet

She's referring to the two Afable

(And the people Jackie was asking about were her two bosses at Afable Construction and Development Corporation. They were Architect Sandino Afable and his elder stepbrother, Engineer Jeslie Afable.)

Why did Jackie ask if the two has arrived well

She was almost an hour late, but this was not an issue with Architect Sandino Afable, her original boss. However, if Engineer Jeslie Afable had been there, he would surely check his watch and give her a formal reprimand. This greatly irritated Jackie because, strictly speaking, Engineer Afable was not her boss. He had only come to join his stepbrother's company and, according to him, would temporarily share the secretary until he could hire his own.

This would have been fine with Jackie, as they did increase her salary since her workload had doubled. What only irritated her was that Jeslie was too bossy, strict. It seemed like he didn't know how to smile.

Her hair hung loose around her head, and Jackie felt that she looked horrible. Her eye shadow had surely been washed off and her mascara had run down her cheeks. Even without looking in the mirror, she felt like her appearance was something out of a horror movie.

And this was probably what was on Sandino Afable's mind when he came out of his private office and saw her. The architect raised his eyebrows. He looked her over from...head to toe with an amused look and laughed. He was clearly trying to hold back his laughter.

She was waiting for Sandi to notice her new outfit, which she had painstakingly chosen from her friend's secondhand (ukay-ukay) store. It was imported and looked brand new, adhering to the latest fashion trend for that season. The fashion trends were circulating back, so she was able to choose something stylish. It was a below-the-knee skirt and a blouse with small butterfly sleeves, a close neck, and a very tiny baby collar.

But Sandi seemed to see nothing. Jackie knew that even if she wore nothing at all...
