Taehyung has always believed certain things about the world.
Boys fight. Boys compete.
That’s how his family raised him, how school treated him, how the world looked.
So whenever he dreams that strange dream — the one where someone’s hand cups his cheek,
where he holds someone's hand softly
where someone is hugging him crying and begging to stay
Because dreams aren’t real.
And love like that doesn’t exist
But lately, every time he wakes up, there’s this warmth in his chest.
A warmth he can't explain
A warmth he doesn't trust
And when he sees Jungkook smiling in real life, something inside him aches in a way he doesn’t understand.
He "never" suspects it’s love.
Jungkook used to fight Taehyung for one reason:
He was always the best at sports. Fastest runner. Sharpest reflexes. The kid teachers praised for physical talent.
But every monthly exam, Taehyung’s name stayed at the top of the board.
Taehyung’s handwriting was always neat.
Taehyung’s answers always perfect.
So he studied.
And studied.
And studied.
Not because he loved books —
But because he wanted to show his parents he wasn’t just “that sporty kid.”
He wanted to be better then taehyung at 'everything'
He would glare across the classroom just to see Taehyung’s reaction.
Taehyung would raise an eyebrow, smirk slightly, and then look back at his notes like Jungkook wasn’t worth the effort.
That smirk made Jungkook study harder.
The rivalry was simple then.
Because somewhere along the way his fights changed.
Now he fights "to hide" the way he looks at Taehyung.
The way he notices every tiny detail —
The curve of his smile, the softness in his voice, the way Taehyung’s presence feels like home.
Whenever Taehyung walks into a room,
Jungkook’s whole body reacts before his brain can say:
"No. Don’t look at him like that."
And now every time Taehyung smiles and calls him an idiot, Jungkook’s heart punches him from the inside.

A new family moves into the neighborhood
The house next to Jeons which was empty for quite a few months
The moving trucks unload the boxes and Jungkook barely three watches from the window

come Jungkookie let's go and greet our new neighbours

The door opens and a couple steps out followed by a small boy with big dark eyes and fluffy hair clutching a stuffed tiger

Hello! Welcome to the neighborhood! I'm Mrs. Jeon, and this is my son Jungkook
Mrs. Kim
Nice to meet you! I'm Mrs. Kim, this is my husband, and this shy one here is Taehyung. *smiles*
Both the boys are staring at each other
