It was supposed to be a silent and still night and it was untill ...

It was not....

The night was beautiful but not dark , it was a full moon after all and beautiful stars dotted the sky ,the sky was cloudless. There was no soul in sight but if you could listen carefully you would hear the cries coming from deep in the forest.And although it sounded laboured and like pants it was faint but not far . But the sound grew and the sky began to darken gray clouds appearing out of thin air and covering the stars .

But not the moon ....

The night sky flashed with streaks of lighting, thunder bolts ,and strong winds assaulted the night. And yet the cries grew in the forest , so did the storm.

And then it began to rain suddenly and heavily , like hailstones coming downon the forest like glistening pebbles in the moonlight . The wind grew with the rain it hurled the weaker trees up from their roots and far away,the stronger ones that could wistand it were bent almost to their breaking point.

It was no longer a silent night instead no one dared to step outside for fear of being homeless away by the wind .And yet the cries I'm the forest grew....

Suddenly,just as it started it stopped,the clouds that once filled the sky disappeared to nothing and the winds settled into a gentle breeze.

Even the cries in the forest stopped , it was once again silent . Just as it should have been.

The insects began to chirp happily calling to their mates,growls and roars followed as the night beasts awakend they to calling to their mates. And a baby's cries were heard coming from the forest.

“I'm sorry ... mommy is sorry but you will be safer this way ,” a young lady with delicate feautures and long black hair wept as she placed the wailing child she had just finished wrapping in a soft green blanket on the floor.

“Mommy is so sorry,” she kept on mumbling to herself as she wrapped her up,and stood up turning her back on the wailing child , tears streamed down her face .

As if she knew she was about to be abandoned her cries grew as she hiccuped , tiny chubby hands reached out as if to grab unto her mothers dress. Her eyes so green they were like glistening emerald stared with grife.

The woman's face mirrored that of her child and she kept on mumbling "mommy is sorry, mommy is sorry, mommy never wants to leave you....mommy loves you" She turned back to the child and placed her palm on the child's shoulder.

Her eyes flashed pure white for a second her pupils disappearing as her palm lit up and then dimmed. Then she stood up turned around and disappeared into the night leaving the child there.

“The child is born, ”Ruby snorted out fire as she mentioned this to the other dragons her red ruby eyes sparkling with excitement as she wipped her tail from side to side. “I shall go get her ”.

“I can feel it too mate,”Zule her mate said as he stood up “and no Ruby its too dangerous remember our kind is almost gone you can't go for her yet” .

“But she's alone now i will clothe myself and be back before you know it,you know she's our only hope. ”

“I know and that is why you can not go for her now .Its not the right time. ”

“ Then when is the right time. ”

The slivery dragon who lay down quiet by they both as they talked opened her grey eyes at this question and snorted . “ The girl shall be brought to us. ”

Not long after the lady left the wailing child a white tiger walked by a saw the child, he walked around her sniffing, and growling before he huffed and then reached with his mouth and lifted the baby in her blanket, turned around and began to walk due east .

He walked till he reached a garden a then placed the child on the ground and roared. He walked around and roared louder again and again. Until a petite lady came out cursing. “ Damn it white I'm here what is it?”

He growl moving the child to her with his nose.

“Oh my so cute is she the one? ”

He snorted . “You found her in the forest,” she frowned starring at the child as if trying to figure out why then shook her head and glanced at white. “ White you know should talk to me and not just growl and snort all the time, it's realy getting on my nervs,” she said as her bent and carried the baby.

“ I know and that's why i don't do it,” white said then turned to go.

“ Wait what should i do with the child ?”

“Nothing you will know when it's time ” ,with those words white left.

She stared at the green eyes looking up at her and sighed.

“ I guess it's you and me now, atleast we will have each other for company. Now, what shall I call you?....I shall call you Dice is that okay? Cause i happened to like the name and will suit you.What do you say? ”

Then she took her into the house and closed the door*.

She was pale as she teleported into her room after all it was not every day a mother gave up her child. But it had to be done, left for Lone the child would be long dead and if he found out that the child was still alive then she would be better off dead herself but hopefully he wouldn't find out. Or if he did then it would not be now.

“Were have you been?” A sharp voice cuts into her thought startling her.

She turned trying to hide her disgust, as she glared at the man sitting before her fire place. Though her windows were always wide open she knew he did not come in that way he was the high mage after all, “out on a walk, did you need something?” She failed anyway as he smirked at the irritation slipping out her voice.

Ignoring it he motioned her to come to him then in a whisper asked, “and the child.”

“Dead as instructed, ”she bowed.

“Then thats good news my sweet, it was a abormination afterall and it was bound to end this way. Nothing messes with my plan.”

“Yes my lord. ”

“Now what sould we do with you Cloud dear?”

“How do you mean my lord?” Cloud paled and tried to step back but fail the monstar had dared to glue her to the floor with his cursed magic. Her eyes flashed as struggled to free herself but to no avail.

“Do not foght me dear, I won't hurt you, ” he stood up and splaced his hand on her head.

Immedaitely she threw up her mental shield and began to think about dates and oranges and flowers.To bad he did not intend to read her mind but he did something worse he cast a spell on her bonding her to himself forever.

“You left me no choice my sweet.”

Two years...

Concerntrate Dice immagine it coming towards you like a calm breeze, kissing your chin cooling the fire in you.... not that it's not a weapon no it's a loved one, yes yes good.” Galena Dice protector cheered as she watched Dice lure the apple towards her from across the room.

It was a wonder what she could do and so far Dice was the strongest mage Galenahad encountered and so young just shy of two years she already knew how to use her power which was not common. Fact was mages only found their power at the age of sixteen.

“That's it for today, rest now you have school in the morning.”

“Yes mother,goodnight mama ” Dice said as she made her way to her room, she sighed to herself wandering when she would be done with that stupid school she had never like it and most of her class mates were rude and bullies but she never complained after all mother had thought her a spell she could use to avoid them. Not that it worked always but she was gettong better at it, perharps one day she would make her teacher avoid her for the whole class.

«Dice come.»

Deep into the night...

“Galena it's time for her to go.”White said as his nose twitched in annoyance at Galena's reluctance to part with Dice. It was time for her to star her training with the dragons but Galena kept insisting that Dice was still young.

Yes she was indeed young but that was how it was supposed to be she was after all the only dragon born left and as it was bound of her she was to be trained and thought the ways of the dragons.

“But White she's still young and won't last in the Moongrove, ”she argued.

“You do not know that, that's were she belongs you and I know that.”

“But, she will be just two on the 'morrow. How will she survive it?”

“She spent two years with you that alone proves she can pass any test at the Moongrove.”

«Come Dice. »

“Do you not see how different that is, am a mage and so is she.”

“Wrong she's the only dragon born and try as you might she would not fit in with anyone else but the dragons they alone know how to train her. ”

“But...”

White growled in irritation, “Sapphira in growing impatient. The child is to come before she turns two. The dragons call her already.”

“What?”

«Dice child come.»

Dice tossed on her bed she was burning all over and her name someone was calling her name but it was not Galena. No, this voice was softer and melodic like a song it tune trying to lure her into a dance. But no she wouldn't.

«Dice child come.»

It called again she struggled turning now it was cold to cold she would warm herself up.In her subconciousness she imagined woods, plenty of woods and then she lit it on fire.

Ah so satisfying it was warm now but not warm enough, so she willed the fire to grow and more and more.

When Galena came runing to Dice room, she was on the bed and her room was on fire.

“Air, ”she commanded gesturing and trying to out off the fire but to no avail.Her eyezs flasged gold again and again but nothing happened instead it grew. “Water, ”she gestured still nothing.

“ Thats usless against dragon fire you should know. ”

“But Dice.”

“She's safe, and has ti go now.”

Resigned Galena turns and walks out of the room.

While white takes in adeep breathe and roars the fire goes off, he stalks into the room carries her and places her on his back. Then he turns and stalks out of the house, his white fur shining in the moon light.

Dice lay on his back motionless and could on longer feel the cold.

Galena stood by the window watching them untill they disappeared into the night tear drops rolling down her cheecks.

“My dear Dice, take care.”

“She is strong and just right.”Saphira sighed puffing out smoke as she turned ftom the dragon eyes.

The eyes had shone all that needed to be known and Dice was on her way to Moongrove it was yime for the next step.

She was running deep into the forest if she disn't Ruby would catch up with her, and it was never good when that happened. It should have been easy to evade her afterall, she was low into the forest probably hidden in the trees if it weren't for the damn dragon that kept separting them and exposing her wereabouts. But this time around she promised to beat her last record so she had to act fast. To her right was the Jasmine lake while to her right was just ruins left from the last battle between the dragons and their arc nemesis the mages. But if she continued onwards she might not make it to the cave, so she made a last minute decision and took her right haded straight for the ruins.

Ruby came to a stop up ahead as she watched the cub take a turn, she huffed as smok came out of her gaint nostrils, shaking her head a strained smile on. Not that she was not happy to watch the pup take a new turn for the first time since the began to go hunting. It was just that her destination was not were she ever wanted to be again.

That place she lost many of her friends her family and her childhood. It was off bounds for many dragons orders form Saphira, now Dice was headed that way and ahe could not stop her. Part of the reason why it was off bounds was the fact that no magic be it that if a mage or dragon would ever work there, afterall the damage the war brought on it, not to mention the left over magic from the war.

«Saphira we have a problem Dice is haded for the ruins», she called with her mind voice a little desprate though she could try to catch Dice she was not sure she would succed.

«Then go after her », Saphira's voice was filled of boredom she belived that her dragons were strong and capable of concering their fears, most esppesialy Ruby.

The ruins was never off bounds afterall their friends and clan died there, but Ruby's mate had asked a favour of her to help protect Ruby from herself. Sje understood perfectly, afterall she would have done thesame for her mate. That is, if he was still alive.

«I can't,» Ruby's strained voice interrupted her thoughts.

She flicked her tail and asked, «why can't you?»

«It's off the boundry and ... I just can't Saphira. I think I might have the...» Ruby trailed off she had no excuse and she was the one that encouraged Dice to make do with what she was given, and always think fast. She was proud of her teaching method but not just how her pup applied it. Take now for example....

«Ruby, should I remind you that when you are out with Dice she is in your care ?»

«But Saphira the ruins is off bounds.» Ruby whined.

«And your bound one is in it what do you do, other than to fly and stare helplessly, a dragon fears nothing Ruby not even her past.»

«But it's different.»

«You claim to be the strongest, not being able to use your power should not scare you. You are after all bound to the strongest dragonbron ever or should i say the only dragonborn ever.»

Saphira was right, she was strong and Dice was the only dragonborn remaining and was bound to her, should anything happen to her she would be held accontable. And Dice was a good cub, she liked her. So, she would go after her come what may.

Taking a deep breath she swayed and went after her, her wings beating in sync with her heartbeats as she chashed after Dice.

It was good thing I came this way, Duce thought as she made her way towards the ruins. I finally get to beat Ruby and explore tgis side of the forest. It does not look how I envisioned it.I thought it would be filled with gore and skeletons, or perharps the war was just an excuse ti keep me away from this gloriousness. No... no they would not do that I can remember White telling me about the war and momma. Yes...then why does it look this way, she wondered.

«Got you cub.» Ruby's voice echoed as she dived aiming to grab Dice and get out of the ruins she had not even spent a minute and she already felt light headed and she had this feeling that something was watching them.

But Dice managed to duck on time, «missed me.» She dance sticking her tounge out at Ruby.

Ruby bared her teeth, «do not rejoice to soon cub, I will definately get you make no mistake and think otherwise.»

«I won't but I am going to won this round no matter what.»

«That is yet to be seen cub, you will not be this lucky on my next dive. »

«Yeah, yeah what is holding you back now, come and get me if you can.» Dice taunted befire she slipped in between trees to hide from Ruby.

Ruby smirked, this was usually Dice's go to last move before she caught her.Her big red eyes followed Dice movement as she made turns in between the trees. She did nit have to do anything but to wait and watch her after all there was always a n opening at the end of every tunnel, so what if this was not a tunnel. There was still an opening at the end of the forest. Not to mention the fact that they were in the ruins and she was very familiar with the opening ahead of them . Did not mean she would let her linger in the woods alone, she would watch first the, after all opening was just two beats ahead.

Dice stepped out of the woods into the clearing and gasped bewelled, so it was true. The war did happen, and she was standing at the center of it all.

“I have been especting *you. ”

“Who's there?”
