Anyways, I'll start the story.
Aria came from a family that learned how to survive storm, both the kind that wreck the houses and the kind that breaks hearts.
Her father had left years ago for another woman, leaving her mother to work endlessly and raising Aria and her younger brother on her own.
Because of that, Aria grew up hating the man who abandoned them, and loving the woman who stayed.
Now, she was going to be a first year college student. Which meant she had no choice but to leave their tiny countryside home and move to the city to study and work at the same time.
For future better than the one she was given.
Today was the day she had to leave.
The small wooden house felt heavier than usual as she dragged her old suitcase to the doorway. Her mother tried to smile but the tears in her eyes said everything she couldnt.
Mrs. Graves
"B-be careful in the city, okay? And make sure you're eating properly! I don't want you starving yourself just because you're stubborn."
Aria Graves
*Aria laughs, trying not to cry.* "Of course, mom. I'll study well and come back with lots of money, okay? Enough to buy you a mansion!"
She joked but her voice cracked slightly. Her mother let out a wet laugh as she pulled Aria into a tight hug. Her little brother hugged her while sniffling.
Lucas
"Sister... Don't forget us, okay?"
Aria Graves
"Idiot, why would I forget you? You're the most annoying person in my life."
He giggled through his tears, making her tear up even more.
After a long warm hug with both of them, she grabbed her suitcase and walked towards the dusty road. She didn't look back because if she did, she knew she wouldn't be able to leave.
When she got to the bus station, a familiar figure was waving so eagerly it looked like he might pull a muscle.
Her childhood friend, Asher, stood with his backpack, tapping his foot like an impatient old man.
They grew up together, fighting, teasing, playing and sometimes crying over the same silly things. Now, they were both going to enter college.
Asher Lark
"Took you long enough! What, did you cry again? You're still such a crybaby!"
Aria froze, quickly wiping her cheeks. She forced the straightest poker face she could.
Aria Graves
"I am NOT! Stop teasing me."
Her voice cracked, making her sound even more like she was crying.
Asher's teasing grin softened immediately.
Asher Lark
"Alright, Alright... Come here."
He reached out and wiped her remaining tears with his thumb.
Aria Graves
"W-what are you doing?!"
Asher Lark
"Helping a crybaby, duh."
He smirked, then grabbed her suitcase with one hand and slung it over his shoulder like it weighed nothing.
Asher Lark
"Come on,let's get in before the bus leaves without us."
Aria Graves
"Hey, that's my luggage, bring it back!"
Asher Lark
"Nope, you'll just cry again if you carry it."
Aria Graves
"I said I didn't cry!"
Asher Lark
"Sure, and I'm a unicorn."
They both laughed. Hers a little shaky, his warm as usual.
As they boarded the bus, Aria looked out the windows at the fading mountains... the fields... the small house...
Everything she loved was shrinking behind her.
Yet beside her sat someone who had been with her since childhood. Someone who made the living less painful.
And so, her new life in the city began.. filled with uncertainty, dreams, challenges and people expected to meet.
Everything was about to change.

Continuation of the story.
The moment Aria and Asher stepped out of the bus, their mouths practically fell open.
Towering buildings stretched high above them, glowing lightd that like fallen from the sky. Cars honked, people rushed past carrying a bags and coffee, and screens everywhere flashed advertisements.
They had only ever seen the city on TV. But standing here... it felt like stepping into an entirely different world.
Aria Graves
"Woah... Asher, look! That building is so tall... I felt like it's staring down at me."
Asher Lark
"Aria... that's just an office building, not a giant robot."
She slightly elbowed him.
Aria Graves
"I know! I just... Ugh, it's so big."
Asher Lark
"You said that last week when we saw a watermelon twice the size of your head."
He laughed, patting her head as he pulled her suitcase forward.
Their apartment was a small, clean unit near university... simple, quiet and surprisingly cozy. Two bedrooms, one small living room, a kitchen, and a bathroom.
It wasn't much, but for two countryside kids stepping into city for the first time, it was perfect.
By the time they finished unpacking, arranging their clothes, cleaning every corner and arguing over whose poster should hang in the living room (Aria won), it was almost 8 PM.
Aria stretched her sore back.
Aria Graves
"I'm taking a shower. I feel like I'm covered in... dust, sweat, and emotional damage."
Asher Lark
"You're always full of emotional damage."
Aria Graves
"And whose fault is that?!"
Asher Lark
"Yours. You cry, I laugh. It's a balanced relationship."
She threw a pillow at him before stomping towards the bathroom.
While Aria showed, Asher tied an apron around his waist and started cooking.
He knew she'd skip dinner if he didn't prepare anything, she always forgot meals when she was tired.
Even though they were in the same age, he always felt like he had to look out after her.
She was loud, clumsy, dramatic... and too precious for the world.
And there was something else, a secret he kept buried deep.
Not just as a childhood companion.
But in a way that made his heart tighten whenever she smiled.
Yet he kept it to himself.
Because he knew she only saw him as a friend.
And losing her... was something he could never risk.
He took a deep breath as he placed the finished food on the table.
Asher Lark
*whisper to himself.* "Get it together. Friends. Just friends... that's enough, right?"
The bathroom door clicked.
Aria stepped out, her damp hair clinging to her neck, wearing soft pajamas and rubbing her hair with a towel.
She looked fresh, comfortable, and much to Asher's dismay adorably unaware of anything outside her world.
Asher Lark
"Hey. Come eat."
Aria peeked over the towel.
Asher Lark
"No, a magical fairy appeared and did it for me. Yes, I cooked."
She laughed quietly as she approached the table.
Aria Graves
"It smells good... You're literally the mom of this apartment."
Asher Lark
"Then stop causing me stress like a troublesome child."
Aria Graves
"I'm older than you by then minutes!"
Asher Lark
"And yet I act older by ten years."
Aria sat down, still drying her hair and took a bite.
Aria Graves
"This is really good!"
Asher tried not to smile too much.
Asher Lark
"Obviously. I don't cook trash."
Aria Graves
"You burned rice last time."
Asher Lark
"THAT WAS ONE TIME--"
She burst out laughing, and the sound filled the small apartment like warm light.
Asher watched her quietly for a moment.
The city outside felt to big, too fast, too confusing. But Aria's laughter... that was something familiar. Something that made any place feel like home.
Aria Graves
"Asher? Why are you staring at me? Do I have shampoo on my face?"
Asher Lark
"No. Just... eat before it gets cold."
She never notice the way his voice softened.
And maybe that was for the best.
Little did they know... their life in the city would bring not just new challenges... but new feelings, new people, and changes they were never prepared for.
Episode 3
A few days passed quickly.
Aria and Asher were slowly adjusting to their new life in the city, learning which streets were safe, which bused they should avoid at all cost.
Since classes wouldn't start until next month and they still needed to enroll, they both decided to find part-time jobs to earn allowance.
Asher got lucky first, he found a job at a nearby coffee shop. The owner liked his polite attitude (and the fact that he is handsome didn't hurt either).
Every day she checked online job posting, walked around the streets with resume, and visited small shops asking if they were hiring.
Most places shook their heads.
"Try again next month."
"We're full."
"Only experienced worker."
But she didn't want to give up.
That afternoon, they decide to buy groceries together since their refrigerator looked plainly empty.
Aria Graves
"We should buy noodles. They're cheap and fast."
Asher Lark
"We're also buying vegetables. I refuse to raise you on instant noodle."
Aria Graves
"You're not raising me--"
She rolled her eyes dramatically.
They turned a corner inside the supermarket when someone suddenly called out:
Aria blinked in surprise. A warm, familiar face approached... her mother's old friend Aunt Liza.
Aria Graves
"Auntie Liza! What are you doing here?"
Aunt Liza
"I should be the one asking you! Why are you two here in the city?"
Aria Graves
"Ah... we're starting college soon. Asher already found a part-time job but I'm still looking for one."
Aunt Liza
"You're looking for a job? That's perfect!
Aria straightened up excitedly.
Aria Graves
"Really? Why, Auntie? Do you know something?"
Aunt Liza
"Yes! I'm working as a maid for a wealthy family... A very kind people. They mentioned they're looking for another helper. I can recommend you."
Aria Graves
"Seriously?! Auntie, are you sure?!"
She grabbed Asher's arm slightly, eyes sparkling.
Aunt Liza
"Of course, dear. You're hardworking, polite, and your mother raised you well. I'll talk to my boss and call you once I get the details."
Aria bowed repeatedly in gratitude.
Aria Graves
"Thank you so, so much, Auntie! This would help me and mom a lot."
Aunt Liza
"Just wait for my call. I'll contact you within a day."
After she left, Aria spun around happily.
Aria Graves
"Asher! Did you hear that? I might get a job! A real job!"
But Asher... wasn't smiling.
His brows were furrowed, his jaw tight.
Aria Graves
"Why do you look like that? Aren't you happy for me?"
He let out a slow breath before speaking.
Asher Lark
"I am happy. But... are you really sure about this, Aria?"
Aria Graves
"Why wouldn't I be? It's a job. I need one."
Asher Lark
"I know that. But working for a rich family... You don't know how they are. Not all wealthy people are kind, you know? Some treat helper badly. And we came from a poor background... what if they look down in you.?"
She stepped closer and nudged his arm.
Aria Graves
"I'll be fine. Aunt Liza said they're kind. I trusted her."
Asher Lark
"Still... I'm worried."
Aria Graves
*laughs quietly. * "You're always worried."
Asher Lark
"Because someone has to be."
He avoided her eyes, and she noticed the tension on his shoulders.
Aria placed a hand on his arm gently.
Aria Graves
"Thank you for caring. But I can't keep relying on you forever. I need to stand on my own too. This job might help me and my family."
For a moment, he just look at her... not just a grill he tease every day, but as a girl he quietly loved... yet he couldn't confess to.
Asher Lark
"Just... promise me one thing."
Asher Lark
"If they treated you badly, even for a second if something feels wrong--leave. Don't endure it just because you need money. I'll help you. I'll take extra shifts if I have to."
She smiled, a small, warm smile that always melted him.
They continued pushing the grocery cart together, bickering over which snacks to buy, acting as if the world hadn't just shifted for both of them.
But inside Asher's heart, a quiet uneasiness grew.
Because sometimes... the path we choose lead us to people who change everything.
And this job Aria was about to take would be the start of something neither of them expected.
